no the manga is good let me tellyou what happens in english i read the english version it is similar to what happened in episode 1 of beyblade ginga is a person who just relaxes and drifts around town the little boy kenta the one who got bullyed is bladin then a fatass comes from a group called facehunters ginga gets his blade from almost bein destroyed so ginga gives kenta advice to win kenta ends up winning and beeting fat ass ginga gets called out because of his strength the leader of face h

It will not be a "let down". Takao was becoming too old for the target audience TAKARA-TOMY has for Beyblade. It is only natural to get rid of the old cast. You will get used to it.
