  • Hi Maha,

Thanks for uploading the video's. Still trying to chew through Lesson number 1 :). Was just wondering, is the style of Arabic you are teaching us more Lebanese in style, or Syrian, or Jordanian, or Egyptian? I have a feeling it isn't Iraqi Arabic because I have a few Iraqi friends and it seems to sound slightly different when they speak. Not a very important question but I was curious.

    Thanks!

  • ana askun fee New York :D thanks Maha, excellent lesson

  • Your are entertaining but can u pls show on screen the translation of every word as in every single word. Sometimes at certain parts u go too fast :-S. Well maybe at other videos :-O.

  • Good lessons. You are also very pretty and friendly.

  • Ana askun fee Amreeka. Shukran.

  • Okay 2 questions

What does AYNA mean on its own? I'm guessing it means WHERE

And what does FEE mean? I'm guessing it means IN

    Help me MAHA!

  • Yay great video :D I really like the whole interactive thing :D

  • Ana askun fee Itaaliia

  • انا اسكن في البرازيل. :)

  • Ana askun fee Amreeka

  • Ana askun fee el inglezina (england?)

  • ana askun fee Brazil (or al-Brazil?)

  • @nAstrid89 Agreed! Speaking in fus'ha is completely useless!

  • @balahadiamark Speaking standard arabic is definitly not useless. If you can't speak it you can't read. And you can't converse with those who have dialects far apart (ex. Damascus and Tunisia) if you only speak one dialect.

Both dialect and MSA has their place :)

  • @Samlaren what is "standard arabic" is it the general middle east arabic if so i found this great channel called ArabicClass it has possibly the best effective Arabic lessons i've seen so far on youtube. They have a few videos atm but im sure they'll be more soon! I've already subbed to their channel and I'm loving the lessons so far..so if u wanna learn Arabic efficiently as well check out their first lesson!

  • @Samlaren Can someone who only speaks a dialectform still understand standard arabic?

  • @dardo1201 yes

  • @Samlaren I can read arabic but can't converse in it. So what does that make me?

  • انا اسكن في ايطاليا

  • ANA ASKUN FEE CANADA!!!!!! THANK YOU MAHA!!

  • Ana askun fee amreeka. Love the work you do.

  • Ana askun fee Holanda!:)

  • I'm confused. Why isn't "I live" said askunu instead of askun? In the video where you taught the present tense, I study is adrusu, and all the other verbs you taught follow that oo oo pattern. Why doesn't tasaka follow this pattern?

  • @wolfenstein11x

You are correct that it is spelled "Askunu", but the final "u" sound is rarely pronounced here. The same goes for you (male) taskun(u), he, yaskun(u), she, taskun(u) and we, naskun(u). The one in paranthesis is rarely pronounced.

  • Ana askun fee Amreeka <3
