Whether children use pornography away from school is simply nobody's business, but when teens get sexually involved, there are a lot of health and safety risks involved. Kids DO need to know what they are, but giving children graphic novels filled with scenes of illegal and otherwise high risk behaviors and passing them off as good and normal is contrary to the mission of education and places children in harm's way.

We need to do more to make sure all children grow up free of bullying. We need to make our schools safer. That starts with asking students to embrace values of tolerance of all people. But it can't stop there. There must be an environment in schools where students can feel that the school will protect them from bullying and violence.

listen, im a teen, 16, im either gay or bi, not sure, been thinking about this since i was 12/11 and do you know what? there is a shit load of prejudice out there....one time someone started a rumour that i was gay and all the boys of my school avoided me for weeks till it blew over, thankfully im built like wall and no one would dare start a fight with me but there are alot of of teens who are going through hell, this is the sort of change we need in schools so kids can feel safe.

trust me i feel your concerns but to be very honest parents dont get the full idea of sex when it comes to teen agers, now i live in england and so i can only talk about facts in england but here every every child over the age of 13 has watched porn, more than 2/3 of boys are worries about the shape and size of their penis and most girls feel that if their boyfriend wants sex they have to give it to them and to be honest with things like internet, television and so on its unavoidable
and thats the problem, you may feel that the right time for your son or daughter to learn about sex is when they're 16-17 or so on but in truth they know about since little kids, most likely will have seen porn and heard stories, this then leads to them not knowing what to do, thinking sex is just like in pornos but they cant ask anyone about this other kids will laugh and there is no chance in hell they would speak to a parent about it either so really the only place left is school.
not to mention there are sick people out there who would teach their kids sick things or not teach them anything, the only way to make sure that children learn about this stuff is at school, now dont get me wrong, i hate school and i dont like any system were power is taken from the parent but in this case kids need somewhere they can turn to get trustworthy information that they feel safe about.

Whether children use pornography away from school is simply nobody's business, but when teens get sexually involved, there are a lot of health and safety risks involved. Kids DO need to know what they are, but giving children graphic novels filled with scenes of illegal and otherwise high risk behaviors and passing them off as good and normal is contrary to the mission of education and places children in harm's way.

We need to do more to make sure all children grow up free of bullying. We need to make our schools safer. That starts with asking students to embrace values of tolerance of all people. But it can't stop there. There must be an environment in schools where students can feel that the school will protect them from bullying and violence.

Look, I'm Episcopalian. But there is a big difference in accepting gay people for who they are and sexualizing children.
Parents should have ultimate control over what their children are taught about sexuality and have a right not to have them read books like Queer 13 as part of their coursework.
I'm not at all opposed to the acceptance of gay and lesbian people. I'm against the sexualization of our children. Jennings has no place as a safe schools czar.

trust me i feel your concerns but to be very honest parents dont get the full idea of sex when it comes to teen agers, now i live in england and so i can only talk about facts in england but here every every child over the age of 13 has watched porn, more than 2/3 of boys are worries about the shape and size of their penis and most girls feel that if their boyfriend wants sex they have to give it to them and to be honest with things like internet, television and so on its unavoidable

and thats the problem, you may feel that the right time for your son or daughter to learn about sex is when they're 16-17 or so on but in truth they know about since little kids, most likely will have seen porn and heard stories, this then leads to them not knowing what to do, thinking sex is just like in pornos but they cant ask anyone about this other kids will laugh and there is no chance in hell they would speak to a parent about it either so really the only place left is school.

However, reading about kindergarteners giving BJ's to one another, being molested by an adult in our public schools is disgusting. I would sooner homeschool my children or put them in private school where these CRIMINAL ideals are not forced upon them by the school district. How am I twisting it? I know let's look at the English translations...Romans 26 starts with, "For this cause..." Romans 25 starts with, "Who..." Romans 24 starts with, "Wherefore..." In fact, to find the actual start of the story you have to go all the way back to Romans 1: 20. And it is clear that this is a story about Christians who returned to Paganism and had an orgy. Paul finds this shameful.
