  • do you make your own charcoal, or do you get it from elsewhere

  • @ZoruaZorroark I buy the charcoal.

  • what did you use as a fuel source?

  • @austin6ish I used charcoal as fuel.

  • make a pipe

  • how does the can holding the bottle not melt

  • The glass fuses to approximately 1500ºC and the steel 1440ºC.

  • mix liquid glass with aluminium ? It can be awesome to test :)

  • omg u can melt glas... any fool can do this try making a pipe out of it atleast

  • i didnt see a "dont do this at home" so i know what im gonna go do =D

  • @fisherrd3 Haha, just make sure to be safe :)

  • @lolipop1433 hey i have the melted glass....imma see what happens if i put it in a blender

  • @fisherrd3

    did it blend ?

  • @betadoctor not really and i kinda need a new blender lol

  • Glass becomes brittle when cooled down to quickly. You shouldn't use water like that it could have popped and exploded with hot glass.

  • you could get the fire even hotter if you run the air under the wood

  • @Macsrus5 I know, the problem is that I have no way to attach the hairdryer so that the air blows from below.

  • @lolipop1433 i drilled a hole in mine and hooked a steel pipe to it its a little easy and it work :D

  • @lolipop1433 cut a hole in the bucket and makeshift a pipe from the hair dryer?

  • i've found a new fascination :)

  • you could use some tongs myman. I think molten glass is hotter than tin, that could be why you crucible melted. You can find them I think that would hold molten glass. Thanks tho, it helps to see some fails at times. We learn from mistakes. Keep on truckin'

  • it happened the same for me when I decided to melt aluminum, the weight of the tin and high temperature made a little hole on the base, that failed my stuff

the molten aluminium poured into the coal LOL

  • good job bro, a failed crucible is clearly the problem but otherwise a success, im working on a project to make simple highly effective and low cost foundry that run on wood or home made charcoal. its a collaboration and a process of rediscovery. see go ogle books to see free information about foundry construction by the old masters. keep up the good work!

  • lol fail

  • Snyggt jobbat!

  • @NJditt Tack!

  • LOL - Glass melts at about 1100°C. I'm surprised your tin even lasted as long as it did. I melted glass in my graphite crucible and almost didn't get the glass out because it was so sticky.

Your only aim seems to be high temperature. For that you should look into propane or oil burners. There are a ton of Youtube videos on the topic.

    Keep experimenting :-)

  • lol cool
