  • actually I also agree that the sound of the clapping combined with his amazing voice in a way is just what totally renders this song eternal

  • @MegaFloras ditto...everytime he plays this the audience claps as they cant help it...it's just that kind of song...and perhaps his best

  • wtfffffff clappp gaysssssssssssss

  • Comment removed

  • I'm probably the only person who doesn't mind (and even kinds of likes) the clapping - it just seems natural to be moved by Damien and that the audience got so into the performance...

  • Bonjour les frissons. ♥

  • Need the words

    need the word

    please do more youre fabulous

  • :(

  • Were can I buy this?

  • people ruin things when they clap

  • paris+damien+fool=fucking awesome! ! !

  • what does it mean "inspired by Jacques Brel"??

  • @natty71991 just listen to 'ne me quitte pas' sung by Jacques Brel

  • @natty71991 Likely that it is either influenced by, or is a cover of, a Jacques Brel song. Brel seems to have a strong influence on quiet a number of Irish Muscians, Damien Rice included. Notable also are Jack L and Camille OSullivan, both of whom sing many of his songs. Jack Ls cover of "Jacky" is quite a cover.

  • fucking clappings...

  • This may be my favorite Damien song ! thanks for uploading

  • es el mejor interprete que escuche jamas....no hay barreras de idioma ni de ideas...simplemente el canta y se nos abre el corazon...me gustaria decirselo en persona...

  • Damien Rice please come to L.A!!!

  • Even as he takes his medicine, he leaves a little for us to share. Be grateful

  • could have swore this was called fool

  • the clapping ruined it.....

  • Damien Rice is a poet, wow for me he is a God. I want him in France again.

  • everytime I listen to one of his songs reminds me of the past,he just makes me want to cry ..

  • @DeadSuperhero The same for me...

  • hauntingly beautiful~~~ as always

  • i heard he bought a farm or something and is not touring again sad to say will miss the music

  • Song is actually called "Fool"

  • since this song is 'inspired fro Jacques Brel".what happens if Damien release this on a CD ... does he need to give credit to Brel...? i dont get it....I hope he does and this is one of Damiens greatest

    thanks for video..Great one

  • @kissinger666 it's just pretty similar to 'Ne Me Quitte Pas', so at the very least he'd probably owe a portion of royalties (especially since it's acknowledged as 'inspired by').

  • @kissinger666 i doubt it. lots of songs have been inspired by others. he's not using his exact music or lyrics so he doesn't have to say or pay anything. artists use older songs all the time as inspiration but we don't don't notice most of them

  • wow! Such emotion! :D

  • Absolutely Brilliant...

  • Release another album Damo!!! You can do it. PLEASE!!!

  • damn.. :')

  • Holy shit. Damien is the man

  • oh my god, jacques and damien....both genius!

  • ooh i reeeeeeeli want to see damien's live

when will you come to hong kong? :(

  • @cathycafe The more important question is: When is he going on tour again at all? Because it's been a while since he last went and I hope he's going to go soon. I'd go anywhere to see that guy.

  • he really turns it up at 1:41 and well.... u can feel it if you listen

  • My god! I didn't know this song exisited . i'm falling in love again with him.

He's just so amazing and pure

  • He's the only one who sings lalala and it sound like pure feelings.

  • This song reminds me of Ne Me Quitte Pas. <3

  • where can i find this song?!?

  • @fanigemtos the song's name is "fool"

  • where can I find this song?

  • Exist some other artist better than him? He shudders me...

  • This song is actually called Fool.

  • The sound quality jipped the sh*t out of this amazing artist's sound!!! If someone never heard him before this they would have a crappy impression!!! TAKE THIS DOWN!!! Have respect for Damien!

  • love him

  • hell yeah

  • Wow vraiment une chanson magnifique de mon artiste préféré encore !!! trop fort ce Damien !!!

  • ...

  • from which album is this song from?

  • @MiiiiiiC No album- it's one of those ones he just plays live

  • i'm all about me some damien rice

  • hallo

  • anyone know how i can get this song for my ipod??

  • You can download the youtube downloader- google it.

  • a great song it is different from NE ME QUITTE PAS but is inspirated in this. I can recognise "Ne me quitte pas" in the song. there are versions in english from NE ME QUITTE PAS . Emiliana Torrini made a great version " IF YOU GO AWAY"

  • Stupenda....

  • perfect!

  • magnifica.

  • i am a french woman but i don't reconize ne me quitte pas if i don't read the tittle of the song....

  • c'est une chanson INSPIRÉE de ne me quitte pas ce n'est pas ne me quitte pas en englais ;)

  • ok ok merci à toi!!! je suis si radical!!!!!

  • i cant believe theirs no chords w lirics on this :(( unleess any one

  • I tried searching, too but couldn't find anything... however, this song IS based off of "Ne Me Quitte Pas" by Jacques Brel, so I guess you could just learn that lol

  • actually, it's not the same chords as "No Me Quitte Pas"... I could post the chords for this song later, tho! =P

  • @LemonOperations ne me quitte pas lovely

  • love this song, i already got drunk with this

  • its called "Fool"

  • the original song is "ne me quitte pas" but it's a little bit different...enjoy ;)

  • anyone know what the original song is by Jacque, since i dont know much of him, but lots about damien

  • So beautiful !

  • This is wonderful. The original and the inspired version, they both are beautiful.

Is it possible to get an audio version of Damien Rice' song ??

Would appreciate a reply on this. Thanks.

    Brel <3 Rice <3

  • what do you call the original?

jacques brel's 'ne me quitte pas'?

  • Yes it is "Ne me quitte pas"

I can translate the original lyrics if you want.

You can also listen to Cindy Lauper's version from her album "At last".

  • Oh no worries, I got Damien Rice version and also the original, yes by jacques brel.

Anybody who wants Damien's version of ne me quitte pas, google it with track name, FOOL.

    peace.

  • Dude, you are misunderstood. I meant, if you want to get Damien rice version of "ne me quitte pas", you can find it with name, "fool". That's the name of his version. Damien Rice named it Fool, not "if you leave me now". Getting me?

And no, there is not any other original. Brel's version is the original version (french)

Hope everything is cleared now :)

  • we want damien in mexico as soon as possible please, this dudes cd made 2nd in mexico unbelievable great great artisit my fav

  • isn't this song called Fool?

  • yes,it's called Fool.

  • I mean...yes...once it's fast

  • We travelled 500 miles for this concert. It was fantastic, but French people make the most annoying audience of all.

  • the clapping...no

  • We traveld 400 km and explored Paris the whole day enjoying the French wine.

We were tyred by the start of the concert and enjoyed it in the back on the carpet,We had no need to see him,we saw him few months before at Brussels and couple days back at Werchter.

This was the second last song and got us back on us feet lol.

    Great memories.

  • Thank you so much for posting this - Damien at his best! I absolutely love it! So much emotion in his voice.

  • wow

  • to the ego johnfreg?

  • Bravo! Que Magnificente! ¡Qué voz con tanto pasión! El es el mejor de todo el mundo! I absolutely love him!!! Would love to see him in concert in America on the east coast!

  • Eso!! Damien Rice es el mejor jajajaaja.

  • sérieusement, cette chanson est magnifique!

  • i Looooooooove this song! And i LOVE Damien:)

  • It's because this is some of the song i think is also called "fool"

  • Sounds a bit Jewish when they all start clapping.

  • is there by any chance a way to find this song?

  • did you knew how to find it? i just love it so much

  • it's called Fool , not if you leave me now :) :p i found it very easy...if u still have problems, psm me, i'll send it to you...:P

  • It's inspired from "If You Leave Me Now," the English variant translation of "Ne Me Quitte Pas." "If You Go Away" roughly. As it's inspired, even if it's named "Fool," it's still applicable to anyone who understands where the source of the inspiration comes from.

  • Well, "Ne me quitte pas" translation would actually be something more like "Don't leave me".

"If you go away" would be "Si tu t'en vas" :)

  • Right you are. If youve heard the english version of "Ne me quitte pas", the lyrics do not translate at all from the original, the meaning is almost completely different.

  • I was gonna say, striking familiarity to Ne me quitte pas by Jacues Brel. And yes, the name of the song is "Fool". both amazing songs though. two of the most melancholy songs I've heard.

  • he feels the music so much when he plays

  • boo

    you're the retard here

  • how is one to know the actual name of this song ? 'Fool' or "if you leave me now"? Has Damien ever said the name, or is this presumption?

  • it's a Jacques Brel song named 'Ne me quitte pas'.

  • anyone know if Damien actually wrote this song? Great song, wonder why he rarely plays it and not on any of his (only 2)records, considering i think its one of his better songs, though he does have a lot of good stuff for a guy with 2 cd's

  • how come you talk about "2 cd's" ?

he's got other albums, just gotta search for them... (i.e. live from union chapel, b-sides etc)

  • Excactly!

There are much singles with three or four or more song on it.

  • three if you count b sides which is his best

  • He is great! Next to the group I Couldn't Be Uglier I believe he is the greatest performer working today.

  • and if you're gonna stay, i'll place you high upon a hill... and with my hands i'll build a tower in your name, and you will do the same. won't you my love?

  • so beautiful...it really got to me...

  • Awesome song, but actually it's called "Fool".

  • oo...

  • I love the trembling cello in the background... so beautiful.

  • This just turned me temporarily gay :0

  • shit...it turned me permanently gay :(

  • XD XD

  • @Scoob505 Just came back upon this comment...... Yup. Still gay.

  • @exigentrevolution Same here!

  • @Scoob505 ...you doin' anything later? We can take turns being "Damien"

    :D

  • @exigentrevolution xD

I love people like you, Haha.

  • no matter how much i like his music, i would never suck his dick

  • XD XD XD XD XD XD funny

  • What a great version of Brel's moving song. Damien Rice is a genious. Just like Brel

  • amazing, where can i get the lyrics of this piece?

  • clapping is great... it doesn't ruin the song..

  • most of his brilliant and meaningful songs i can never find

    it sucks

  • i understand you did you get to find it? :( it's quite so beautiful but it's like is doesnt exist :(

  • i wish, but some of his songs are "hidden" in his CDs

  • This song was inspired by Ne Me Quitte Pas by Jacques Brel... one of the best love songs ever.

  • when he go in the south of france?i hope soon :) it's my favourite singer!!

  • i think you're taking it a bit too far...if you've ever been to a concert, there are instances when it's good to participate and have a little bit of fun, instead of sitting there and listen all night long

  • no. thats not true

  • fucking idiot!

  • I don't know what you hear or what "mexican" beat you refer to. I do, however, hear something that sounds like a polka which is very popular in Texas and in Northern Mexico as a result of eastern European immigrants in the 1800's. Chill out man!

  • Oh how I wish I could some day see and hear him live... :)

  • Inspired by Mister Brel. Oh yeah.

Amazing song. I really like his voice and playing.

    Magnifique...

  • its also called fool but fool has an extra verse.. and its on his ''live unreleased singles'' however its only 1 verse...awh hes so lovely =)

  • beautiful <3

  • Like you did when you were coming home

And you did again in Mexico

    And again before you go

  • what did he said about mexico???

  • Like you did when you were coming home

And you did again in Mexico

    And again before you go

  • He is so brilliant! No one can touch my soul the way he can.

  • is this the real name of the song? where can i find the lyrics?

  • why do you even need lyrics..o.o..everything's clear and audible...not like he's mumbling through the songs...

there's also a first verse to the song, which is phenomenal, in another vid on here ..labeled as "fool"

  • great song...but the 1st place is I remember - live at the four seasons

  • it's "BBC4 Sessions", not "Four Seasons"... it's mislabeled here on youtube

  • 4 SESSIONS

  • Rat within the Grain is amazing, too...all of his rare songs give me chills.

  • where can i download this song ? (fool)

  • gud tune! talk bout speed eh struming that thing at a 1000mph lol

  • Wow.

  • why doesent he ever play this live?- this is a rare performance- hope he puts it on CD 3 some year

  • He feels as well as sings his poetry/songs - a new age Dylan.

  • he just keeps getting better my god.... wow... he is incredible

  • Wow, this song is amazing

Is this on any of his albums? I couldn't find it :S

  • You can't find it in his albums he play this song only on scene

  • why is this on an album.... im gutted

  • i dont understand, i listen to hardstyle music but can't get enough of his songs, weird lol they are great

  • absolutely awesome, been to so many concerts, but nobody compares to damien he is mind blowin................

  • dam...it gets better after listening to damo everyday for the last 7 months :]

  • anyone know where i can get this on mp3?

  • gave me shivers

  • This song's called fool yep and has been around since pre 2001 - He usually only ever goes into it after cheers darlin ends nowadays, and you're all extremely lucky to get the ful length version of it like this - an awesome track that should be played more along with insane, face, sand, cross eyed bear and rat within the grain :P

  • i love damien rice <3 & i love his music lyrics & everything to do with him he's just so amaizng words can't describe him & this song is amazing he's so real & shows such emotion in his music <3

  • the original version of this song is from serbia or greek..can't remember but it is an old song like

great job he had done with it..luving damo

  • The original song is french: Ne me quitte pas (Don't leave me ) from Jacques Brel. ;-D

  • Jacques Brel was from Belgium. :)
