Music for drummers is about time. This guy owns the time. His skill and talent is his ability to groove the shit out of things whilst mixing up subdivisions. This is true talent. SPANKY is a true innovator. I don't care who says what. He has locked in time and smashed the hell out of it.

I agree he is insane playing like this but actually playing like this is not that special if you do play on this high level all the time. For example : if you play fusion all the time normal rock-guys would think about your playing about the same.

@prankas Try tensioning the snare side head really tight and the batter side moderately tight, until you get the pop you're looking for. That what I sometimes do on my 13" x 7" snare and it has a ton of crack, similar to the snare he's using here.
So you'd rather agree with the guy saying music should be simple and groovy? I'm just saying most musicians get tired of 4/4 and want to move on to other timings.
you gotta remember that it would not be possible to be a musician if you did not get paid by people who are not musicians thus these are the people you have to play to. "nobody cares if a bass player can solo besides other bass players". yes its good for music to push the limits and find new things, but dont do it so much that you cant still relate back to the common man... cause thats the real point is bringing happiness to them.

I know Spank and I've heard alot of crap and seen alot of dumb stuff. I think it comes with the territory. It's been times me and Spanky sat in the Gallery and chewed the shi*. And there was times he just said what's up and kept it movin'. Other than that, he's always showed me love. Until he craps on me, he's still my homie. And one of the sickest drummers!

Stokley was the Mint Condition Drummer who helped mentor Chris Dave. Spanky is an entirley other cat.

I know Spank and I've heard alot of crap and seen alot of dumb stuff. I think it comes with the territory. It's been times me and Spanky sat in the Gallery and chewed the shi*. And there was times he just said what's up and kept it movin'. Other than that, he's always showed me love. Until he craps on me, he's still my homie. And one of the sickest drummers!
