@Apollo580 No, this aircraft, as well as the one in the Expendables is 100% pure Albatross. Yes aside from size they look quite similar but the Goose has a flatter, less tapered and more blunt nose-end.

These airplanes have the vast majority of their airframe lives remaining. Most have been stored in dry, corrosion-free hot air of the deserts in the US southwest, and have NOT been subjected to the fatigue of flight.

Furthermore, as part of the FAA Type Certificate, the G-111 Albatross has had a number of titanium mods made to its structure which now gives the aircraft an unlimited fatigue life.

Anyone interested may check with the FAA.

There is a Red Bull Albatross flying around my house in Sebasitan Florida with a helicopter chasing it right now - Its been landing and taking off in the ocean and inland waterway all morning, no doubt filming something similar to this video.

Good Gawd! This planes been making low level runs over our house for the past week! A very cool looking plane, but our neighborhood's been wondering what the heh!? Turns out, it's been ferrying NASCAR fans & drivers to & fro Lowes Motor Speedway, as I thought since this is race week in NC...I hope it's wings don't fall off over my house, because the pilot brings that "Albatross" 100 ft over the neighborhood on it's approach into Lake Norman. If so, I'll own Red Bull, if I survive!

I used to be a USCG AD3 fltmech on the "Goat" in the 70s. I loved the smell of them radials when we fired them up, avgas & oil burnin, smells good in the morning. I got to do pollution patrols on Lake Superior and operated the radar looking for bilge pumping by seagoing vessels. Did winter wildlife counts on Isle Royal and elswhere also. Taken a leak in the head was fun ! Don,t miss those "box lunches tho, jus the flying. Thanks C.G. for the memories.

gorgeous- what's the music? beautiful looking plane- very well behaved! I grew up in Milne Bay Papua New Guinea and there was guy who had a Grumman Goose I think who used to use it to go shopping- amazing to watch him skim across the waves and lift off!
