  • That's so cute : )

  • finally a video that exlains it better than the rest my god so many vids and i couldnt find one that explained it simply

  • She shouldn't have kneeled next to the horse. It's a good thing that horse didn't spook and/or kick her.

  • @despondentmemories yeah but did that horse really look like he cared? and yeah ik ik he could have spooked but they used him for a reason so im sure they knew he wouldnt move when they were demonstrating and really? Kick her? he was falling a sleep! (not tryin to be rude)

  • Polo wraps are made of fleece material.

  • what are polo wraps made of

  • You would use polo wraps while exercising your horse, no matter what discipline. You can also use boots, but polo wraps support the tendons better. You should use standing bandages and pillow wraps for shipping in the trailer, and we have a video for that as well!

  • what do you use polo wraps for? would they provide sufficient protection for trailering? or you use them while riding? (and for what riding?)

  • @lschuttem Polo wraps support the tendons. Umm, I would use standing wraps and the quilted no bow wraps for trailering. They are more padded in case of bumps while on the trailer. Polo wraps can be used for any type of riding, because they are for protection.

  • @127HunterJumper Yeah I agree, standing wraps with no bows/quilts for trailering and polos for riding ;) I would never use polos for trailering (especially for a long trip) cause they cut off circulation much quicker than standing wraps with a quilt and don't offer nearly as much protection

  • That is a super nice barn, haha i'm jealous.

  • Thx. Very nice horse barn/stalls too!

  • thanks this helped alot.

  • @ForeverColonel how are you supposed to wrap then? upside down?

  • is soo hot

  • i always liked polo's better than boots... cuz you can have as many different colours as youd like :) but for rainy days...boots are deffinatly more fun, i HATE washing wraps xD

  • I always use splint boots :) but polos are good too I am going to get SMB boots soon:)

  • Thanks this helped so much :D

  • lol the ones i do always look too bulkey t the top but thats just bc the wraps are probably too long. :( i always get confused with what direction to go... sooo i just use tendon boots :D lol

  • The only thing bad about polo raps really is who is rapping them. If too many different people rap the same horses legs, the horses legs could get tendon sore. When a horse gets tendon sore they don't even want to put weight on the leg that is sore. This can be very serious for a horse but can be prevented by ether only rapping the polos yourself or using boots instead. If you are jumping make sure to use open front boots otherwise you could constrict the movement in the leg.

  • you should make two wraps around the fetlock joint in a "figure 8" motion and have an upside down "V"

  • this was very helpfull ive used splint boots but never these, thanks!

  • tnx this helped so much...ive used boots for ever and have never lerned how to wrap a polowrap -_______- so thanks!!

  • Thanks :)

  • ok polo wraps are not ok to jump in. you should only do flat work when using polo wraps.

  • @checkstand1 Actually, I polo wrap evertime I ride. And I jump, pretty much everytime I ride.

They ARE ok to jump in, you dont always need them, but they're ok. Infact, they can be important if a horse hits himself in the leg when jumping. Just make sure they're not to tight or loose, and make sure you dont have your horse wear them for to long. Same deal with boots.

  • That's a nice horse!

  • are polo wraps ok for jumping ? and if i have a pony (shes a welsh pony, 13 hh ) should i trim it to make it a little shorter?

  • You can actually purchase polo wraps for ponies which are cut smaller.

  • @EQNeightion oh ok thanks :)

  • @spashley971 Yeah they are really good for jumping in! :)

  • @horsemad1234 sweet thank you!

  • @spashley971 yeah definetly go with pony polos! And they're fine for jumping smaller fences. Studies have proven they provide 1% support while SMB (sports medicine boots) provide 7%

  • @wh0reship thanks :)

  • @spashley971 no, they are not okay for jumping, they are acually quite dangerous in that discipline.. for tjumping, you should use jumping boots.they are safe and perfect for the horses legs - in ´this matter.

  • To Dogagilitygeek: It doesn't matter which way the velcro faces when you finish. All horses' legs are different sizes and shapes, and bandages stretch as they are used more, so it's impossible to have the velcro end up in exactly the same place on every single horse.

To polopony1: Most people who ride do NOT play polo, so this is an excellent video for the majority of people. Why didn't you explain how it should be done differently for polo ponies? Or do you not actually know?

  • @jjandcm1 The direction of the wrap is very important. If you wrap incorrectly, you could damage the superficial digital flexor tendon, and your horse could go lame. The velcro can end up in different places depending upon the size of the leg and the wrap, but the important thing to remember is from the horse's right side, wrap clockwise, and from the horse's left side, wrap counterclockwise toward the tail.

  • @EQNeightion you're absolutely correct. I am so sick of seeing horses at shows that are wrapped in the wrong direction. Learn to do it properly, or buy boots.

  • @jjandcm1

Being a bit harsh and snotty aren't you?

  • @jjandcm1 It is done differently, I played polo in college so I do have a lot of experience. When wrapping in polo we start right under the knee angled down at 45 degrees angle leaving a tail of about 8 inches, wrap all the way down the tendon (leaving out the 8 inch tail) and when you get down to the bottom you place your 8 inch tail down flat over the back of the tendon, wrap back up to where you started. This provides double support. Do your research next time before you run your mouth...

  • Yes, you can start near the top of the leg, and certainly finish at the top of the leg.

  • is it ok if i star at the top of the leg?

  • here's a helpful hint, to make sure you wraped correst around the fetlock, it should make an "x" or an upside down "v"

  • This is fine for arena work, but not for real polo ponies.

  • The velcro should face the back!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @dogagilitygeek umm it is facing the back.

Great videos you really know what you're talking about, but not in an obnoxious way just simple and informative, good job!!

  • BEAUTIFUL horse and stable!
