@bsman111 Indeed it was, a VERY rare occurrence in primetime WWTBAM. Before syndication D was correct answer to a 1M question only TWICE. I'm still waiting to see the other one which was asked to Justin Ray Castillo. He's the only contestant from primetime version who saw the final question and whose run still isn't even partially available on youtube. Anyone who reads this, please upload his run.
Usually, in the later questions, the one that you think couldn't possibly be right is the correct answer. That would have worked on this question since Jethro Tull's the only one on that list that isn't metal.
i probally would of said AC/DC. since they are my favorite of the four. but that seems like a very easy question since this was only ten years ago at the time.
I would have knew this answer because Metallica was screwed out of that Grammy.
They were at the top of their career in those days after the release of And Justice For All.
They were nominated for that grammy for the song "One" and Jethro Tull was also nominated but they did not show up to the show knowing that they had no chance of winning against Metallica.
It turns out that they did win that award after all.
Sashinator, jordanar18 and mecha03, I know you probably get lots of requests but, if you could find Stephanie Girardie, Joe Kelleher and Mike Menz's runs where they win $500,000, can you tell me when you post them, as if would you really post those?
I wonder why Regis didn't ask Michael to guess the answer and didn't show the correct one right away as he usually did. At least we'd know if Michael would've been right or wrong.
But in primetime version (with Regis) only Shutterly and Castillo had their million dollar questions with correct answer D? Do you know where to find the video of Castillo's last question?
Sashinator, jordanar18, maksimple, pressmin, Wolfman12395 and mecha03, I know you probably get a lot of requests, but if you could just only find Armand Kachigian and Mike Menz's runs, would you post those?
ChiSportsNut18, you're right, Mike Menz does look a lot like Michael Shutterly, how did you know that? Sashinator, jordanar18, maksimple, pressmin, ChiSportsNut18, Wolfman12395 and mecha03, I know you probably get a lot of requests, but if you could just find Stephanie Girardi, Tim Shields, Joe Kelleher and Jim Matthews's runs, would you please really post those, beCause I would really like to see them?
Yeah, I would have picked Metallica for sure but now as I think about it I did hear something about Tull winning this and the outcry of music fans everywhere due to the idiocy of ever putting metal and Jethro Tull in the same sentence.
@zachhoran Yeah, McKee was watching this and thinking to himself, "I knew it was going to happen." And besides, $312,700 (the record that stood for 19 LONG YEARS) was BIG money back in 1980!
This is the only question of Regis' version of the show that I've seen the $1,000,000 questions have the answer D. In Meredith's version, I recall that Ogi Ogas' $1,000,000 question was D also.
I took a wild guess and said: "Propably Jethro Tull" and OMG, I was right. :)
But more likely than not I would've failed on another question prior to the 1M$ question.

the correct answer for $1M wouldav been actually D??? OMG

I actually got this wrong when seeing this question---I said Metallica.
Sjsuman5000 2 years ago
Seriously? That question was fucking easy. Jethro Tull! How was THAT a million dollar question?
suspendedagainlol 2 years ago
@suspendedagainlol But we forget how obscure the previous question was, asking for the real name of a pope who barely lasted a month.
nlafavore 2 years ago
@suspendedagainlol Just because you know it so well doesn't mean everyone else does. I sure as hell didn't know it.

I knew it was Jethro Tull before the choices even came up (I'm a bit of a music trivia buff)
Dang! To be in that hot seat and get that question.

wow, that quiet when the lights go down, why cant that happen now?
If i was him, i'd have it narrowed in my mind to Metallica and AC/DC, but i would've just take a shot out of the dark and say A.

If he hadn't wasted his phone-a-friend on an easy question, he could have won the million.

This seems to be the only Million Dollar Question with D as the answer
peterh4u 3 years ago
No, there have been other questions with D as the correct answer, such as Justin Ray Castillo, and Ogi Ogas, along with some others.

No, unfortunately I don't. Someone will probably get it posted eventually.

Armand's complete run has been posted. I haven't seen Mike Menz, but if you want to know what he looks like, he looks a lot like this Michael.
