  • great car man. imma Mustang fan so that is my big bro at his best. FORD's new mustang is kicking ass too. Stick shift only. . . I would say no girl cars here. but my big sister can get second and third just as well as me... She is good

  • I know auto trans is more confortable for the city and traffic, but MT is the only choice for muscle cars, you aint having that fun with auto trans!, plus i think it makes the car is much more "driveable" if such word exists, with more options to drive arround... ps: i own an old 74 gtx (argentine model) with a 318 sb and some upgrades and a 833 4 spd, it makes me happy by only starting the engine =) cheers

  • Booo! Hydramatic for the WIN!!!

  • Automatics blow nuts!

  • theres nothing better than an old car and a 4 speed.

  • you said it man

  • In Europe can do it every child:-)

  • I used to have a 1960, but now I have a 1963 Ford Falcon! Thanks for sharing this beauty of a vid!

  • This is one sweet Falcon!

  • Back in the day that was known as a 4 on the floor, and the 5th.(whiskey) was kept under the seat.

  • Why 3rd Gear is so short????????

  • Love the 3 speed! I have a 67 Mustang with a 3 speed and its LOTS! of fun!

    Cool video!

  • Got a 73 Maverick with the same. Love it....simply love it...well and the 302 in it!!

  • Where's this magical 5th gear?

  • ill double wat visualtonic said. im totally sik of seein kids doing doughnuts and burning out with there cars on here. awsome falcon tho. how much money and work was it 2 change it from auto to stick?

  • It wasn't expensive as a wheel and tire upgrade.. I got the transmission, bell housing, fork, cover, and that center plate from a Mustang wrecking yard in Miami. The cable linkage is from "Modern Driveline." Modern Driveline is not the greatest company, clutch cable kit, $250, the actual clutch and pressure plate. The shifter stick, $150, the pedals on ebay, $150 from an old Falcon.

  • i would love to have a car like this, it is extremely fun to drive

  • Amazing car..

  • Nice vid dude. Refreshing not to see you doing donuts in front of your drunk 18 y o frat buddies at the local maccas. That just seems to be the norm on 'tube. Good to see that people still appreciate shifting for what it is, rather than how cool it can make them look.

    Thanks for posting.

  • @visualtonic im 23 and prefer driving A manual i drive a 3 speed column Panal Van i figured if i can drive this i can drive any thing and i have more control over the car and its speed.

  • @hambone9119 I learnt to drive in a 3onthetree HQ 202 Kingswood. It's a good place to start ;-D

  • @visualtonic I had my grandfathers Hq premeier for about 5 years but it was shot he had it since new and it was ready to die, but i drove it every day and kept it mechanical A1, the only reason i dont drive it now is because it finally got a defect notice it was rusted to hell but still went and still runs perfect, my uncle is restoring the body of the car.

  • Respond to this video... Nice Falcon, i sure hope Ford Australia do not stop making the Aussie Falcons they at least build most of the car and its engine here in Australia Geelong Victoria, the gearbox how ever is german.

  • hey man, still enjoy watching your vid. i just bought a 67 fastback and it's got the ivy gold interior. Is it the same color as yours? Saving up for the 5 speed swap once again, and hope to have some good vids also.

  • It's great to see that you didn't switch out the 289 for a 302 or something, that is such a great engine.....

  • eh wtf which year was the shift produced looks like years of 70's

  • The shift lever is a Hurst. Basically it's just a piece of metal and a shift ball. Hurst made millions, no billions of them and everyone wanted one on their Hot Rod. But, this car was an Automatic, I put in a 1992 five speed Mustang transmission which made it so much funner :)

  • FLOOR IT!!

  • love the sound of that engine

  • This is one sweet Falcon! I'm a Chrysler man, but as i get older I've really come to appreciate all american cars. They don't build cars like this any more. I really like cars with "3 peadals". I have a 1970 Plymouth Road runner 440 6 barrel w/ 4 speed trans in progress.Sure takes a lot of money.

  • Yea, it takes money, time and some creativity, but it's worth it. I had a 1966 Charger 440 4 speed and it really moved out.

  • Love your car! Im currently in the process of painting mine, Mines a 64 futura with a 4 speed and a very healthy 289. But i must say i love yours its amzing!

  • Nice sounding Falcon. You can see my 95 Australian Falcon idle on my profile.

  • Cool video. I actually first viewed it a couple of months ago and just today, I ran across your comments on our Southest Chapter-Falcon Club website. Hope you found someone to a good job on the paint for this sweet ride. I really love the sound. I've got a black 63.5 and a white 65. I wish either of mine sounded like that. Great car!

  • I just started, yesterday, on the engine bay detailing and restoration. I removed: the A/C, steering pump, radiator, alternator, all the brackets and pullys, fan. Each part gets a complete cleaning and repainting. So far so good. Next, the carb, manifold, waterpump, distributor, fire and side walls. After that, the steering components and the bottom of the car. Then, to the paint shop.

  • Curious about the 5 speed...is it straight from a mustang or is it custom. At least one company rebuilds t5's specifically for 64-65 Falcons. It uses a tailshaft housing from an S-10 pickup. This moves the shifter forward about 8 inches. I plan on putting a t5 in my 64, and am curious about the shifter location.

  • For me, the S10 shaft puts the shifter too forward, it would have hit the A/C unit. This is straight from a 92 Mustang GT, even the drive shaft fit without alterations. You have to cut some of the sheet metal center brace. After that I reinforced the area with a thick steel cross member that doubled as a transmission mount. I still have the template.

  • ya dude what cam are u runnin???

that sounds pretty good for a 289!!!

  • You know, I was told by the original owner that a Ford Mechanic named A.J. Akins built this engine. He had total control of the project, they said. A.J. changed all the engine parts, balanced, blue printed etc. and designed a cam himself that would accommodate the carb, the piston selection and crank and that was 20 years ago. The engine is so strong, but light. It revs really easy. I have to take more video, it will be soon. I will also track down A.J. Adkins from Fort Lauderdale.

  • dude 60 mph at 2 grand!! thats cool. mine aint done yet but when it is ill put some video up. man im only sixteen, but i know my shit about cars. curious what does it run at the track. cause i think with my setup. my falcon is gonna run in the 12's???

  • I don't know what it would do full blast on a track, but I can tell you that it gets up to 90 really fast and there is lots of pull left. I am replacing the steering box soon, I should video it because it is not a fun job. Then I will test out the high speed driving. But it burns rubber like nuts.

  • ya i bet it roasts with that speed in it. do you ever mess around on the street with the tuner punks, or are u just a cruiser??? i like your setup though. a fun small block, and nothin too radical.

  • It's funny you mention that, because the rice car guys are always interested. I like to burn around, I don't really just chug around. You can't help wanting to goose this car because the acceleration is so fun.

  • i thought that was what was happening :)

    I hate CVTs dont you

  • is that double clutching?

  • No, all single clutching. Double clutching, is depressing the clutch, move the shifter, release the clutch with shifter in neutral, depressing the clutch then putting into the desired gear (I think).

  • That 289 sounds mean dude. Mine was bone stock, but the t5 helped it get around a little better. What's done to the 289?. Just keep an eye out for people on cellphones, one of them totalled the mustang in my video a couple yars back. Enjoy your car man!

  • I didn't build the engine, it was built by a Ford mechanic who turned to tweeking engines in the late 1980's. He blueprinted and balanced all of the moving parts, put in a drivable came with some lope, stainless exahust with headers, double pump Holly, 10.5 to 1 pistons, shelby dual point distributor and a bunch of other stuff. All I did was the interior buckets and the 5 speed.

  • id rather have a wooden manual than a metal automatic :)

  • Oh OK that's cool. I didn't think an older trans could shift that quickly and smoothly, though I've never driven a manual older than 10 years so I'm used to the fairly short, fairly stiff modern ones.

  • Impressive, I didn't think you could shift that fast with those old transmissions.

  • Yea, you could shift an old transmission quickly, but this is not and old one, it's from a 1992 Mustang GT.
