  • It isn't the safest - not even close - several serious crashes due to bad manitenance/pilot error/under-powered low-bypass engines/all flying tailplane.

  • @artfulowl2 Well still only one fatal accident in its history, although ofc it does not have very much flight hours so its unfair to compare it to popular jets

  • COOL!

  • Strange aircraft. The fuselage looks like it is from an Airbus 330. The engines look like they were snatched from a BOEING 707 and the undercarriage from a MD DC-10.

  • omg, like Princess Juliana airport, great video

  • oh my god woooooooooooooooooow better than St. Martin !

  • Úžasné a skvělé video.

  • Hey, comrade, thanks for the advice. You must be a very important commie. I can see the snazzy epaulets on your shoulders! You must be a very important official. I should never match wits with smart fellows like you. Now get out there and clean the toilets, igor. Write often.

  • IL-86 is fading into obscurity and rightfully so. There are none left in commercial service. It was a poor design. Only 106 built, not allowed in noise sensitive countries, needed 2500 meters or longer runway. Sovietski's could not achieve design of engines powerful enough, tried to steal a Roll-Royce design, failed at that too. IL-86, good riddance.

  • být pilotem, tak bych byl spocenej až na prdeli :-D

  • @hydranth

proc? normalni run, za letistem dost volnyho terenu bez prekazek...nechapu proc by se mel nervovat?

  • come fly with meee lets flyy lets fly-ayyy awaaaaayyyy.....

  • I cannot get this scary airplane on !!

Pilots always have greater risk of crash in taking-off.

  • @B797846ERF Il 86 is the most safe plane in the world. in 20 years of flying, no major incident!

  • @lawrentii on 28 July 2002 a Pulkovo Il-86 crashed after take off.

People who saw it happen told that the Ilyushin took off almost vertical.

16 people died, only 1 stewardess survived.

Until today this was the only Il-86 crash since his first operation in 1980.

I think you can say that the Il-86 is indeed one of the most safe planes in the world.

Esspecially when you think about the many years of poor Sovjet maintenance and bad fuel quality.

BTW: The Il-96 is still flying without any accidents!

  • @43447 Yeah, but how many airlines fly them? 5?

  • @legomovies64

I think around 8, It's not very much indeed.

Most of the Ilyushin planes were very strong and reliable.

Think about the robust Il-18, who still flies for 15 airliners after more than 50 years!

Only the Il-62 was not very safe, because all the engines are placed right next to each other.

So fire in 1 engine will be fire in 4 engines soon....

The Il-76 has also a history of many fatal accidents.

In most of all the cases poor maintenance or/and inexperienced crew played a major role.

  • @legomovies64 Btw: I've seen your channel, It's clearly to see that you love aircrafts.

Do you also save scale models from marks like Herpa or Inflight.

I do,....I save jet planes in scale 1/500, and today they've brought my Herpa Il-86 in classic Aeroflot livery.

Ít's a absolutely wonderful detailed model,.......a real joy to watch to.

    Greetings from Holland.

  • @43447 I make them, then collect them :)

I was thinking about getting a few QF scale models if i can.

  • @legomovies64 Very nice,......QF...that are the bigger scale if I'm right.....>1/200.

I save 1/500 to create the possibility to save a lot of them.

    It's a space related choise.

If I should buy a Antonov 225 in scale 1/200, I have to arrange a serious parking for it.

Every time when I visit the Aviation Megastore, I feel as a little boy in a Toystore.

Often it fills my whole evening...

    It's a little addictive,..and fairly expensive.

But very nice when you love details and Limited productions.

  • My god. I would never fly on one of those deathtraps.

  • @neeyotube This aircraft is the safest in the world. Check your facts.

  • ...Fuck me... mountains in the distance... need to climb... Now!

  • omg

  • Iljushin is always underpowered

  • @TheTrucker302 or overloaded.

  • @Fasulichenko Dear friend, I see you are still defending the indefensible. Longing for the return of the old soviet machine, are you? Life was so simple for the sycophantic followers of the regime. Face it, Fasuli, the aircraft produced then were mediocre at best. They designed it without having engines of sufficient power!! Then tried to adapt or upgrade existing engines to no avail. Why didn't they just steal a design as usual? Soviets were better at espionage than aircraft design.

  • @gonetoworkbbackin5mi the Il-86 is comparable to 767-400ER in weight and passengers... and to look at stats, the 767 takes 25 passengers more in a 1 class layout... MTOW on Il-86 is 215 tons, and 204 tons on the 767... and still the takeoff run on the 767-400ER is longer at MTOW than Il-86... it is not underpowered... if it was,it would NOT have been certified for commersial traffic...Il-86 have landed on airports all over the world,so it have been through the same tests as any other plane...

  • @ollo1982 Ha Ha Absolutely delusional. Comparing an IL-86 to a 767-xxx. Have you not noticed the 767 series has two (2) engines? That would be one on each side, comrade. Trying to equate these a/c is delusional. Ha Ha Your devotion to all things communist is ridiculous. @ollo*fail.

  • @gonetoworkbbackin5mi so what if it is a two engined aircraft?? they have different engines that gives different pounds of thrust.the Il-86 could manage with two engines that gave the same amount of thrust the four it have now gives.my point is that it is not underpowered.it ways more, have a bit lower thrust than 767 all together, but still has a shorter takeoff roll at MTOW.it even has a rate of climb at up to 3000ft pr minute.you are just negative because its a russian aircraft! Grow up!

  • @gonetoworkbbackin5mi НАНА yourself, mister. Your stupidity of putting together ideology and aircraft is only matching to low level of capitalistic "high" school education. In other word- grow up asshole!

  • @TheTrucker302 If it was underpowered it would not have been certified for commersial traffic :)

  • @TheTrucker302

Not always, the Il-96 (really a re-engined Il-86, with a more efficient wing and new avionics), and some other new ones use the high bypass turbofans.

  • AMAZING! I love your video, Tivat Airport and the airplanes! :)
