people need to learn to lock their bikes up to something preferably cemented to the ground and use a lock that uses a KEY, the codes are resetable and put it around the frame not the tire.... tires are cheaper than the frames
Just for the record, this was a private building and the cleaner let the thief in, which should not have happened. The building was locked at 5PM, but the janitor let the thieves enter after hours.
My sisters bike was stolen and I found a guy riding it. He claimed it was his so I called the cops and the cops took it to the station, but then gave it back to the thief. The fact that we produced a picture of the bike was irrelevant and they blamed us for not registering it. I should have never had called the cops, I should have just kicked the guys ass and stole it back.
you need to have good words with that Claener as he opened the door for them to get into the building, the cleaner should pay for a new bike for you, but more fool you to leave it there unlocked & i'm sure it's a fire hazard to leave it where it Was.
There are a lot of bike thefts in Helsinki. So I refuse to buy a good one. I got a banged up bike with rust on the handle bars. The paint job isn't very good either so I hope that keeps me safe.
I wish the police would treat this as seriously as they treat car thefts.
@cloudberry121 You would not believe how many bikes are locked up at our police station. The frustrating part is that they thieves likely road the bike a few kms and then dumped it!
Yeh that sucks, someone stole my bike out of my back garden while it was locked up :( I was lucky tho that my brother found someone riding it then took it back off them. It was a little trashed but i got it back at least.
@gamespot30 lol I did wonder that when he showed up with it where it was a bit trashed. I thought "hmm my bike wasn't that scuffed..." When I checked it tho it was mine, the security sticker the old bill put on it was still there and the yellow cable tie that I used to secure the gear cable was still there.
@Longs81 im sorry man, i had my bike stolen too, this was years back... i had it under like the table in the backyard and the next day i woke up it wasn't there... for a robber to get at it they had to hop our backyard fence and get close to the back patio and knowing they did that just sucks... it was a cool one too, pegs and everything.. ehh whatever.. crap happens.

no street smarts. Any idiot that doesn't lock up their bike in a public place should not be surprised when it isn't there later.

i have had a bike stolen from workplace before. Difference is mine had a chain on it.
Get it locked up and take out insurance. Insurance for a £300 bike for me costs £2.80 a month
