Without his quick healing ability and invulnerability, he's feeling the after affects of it. It's like a normal man taking all the hits Superman normally does. Which are a lot and intense.

He still has all his powers when not exposed to sunlight, so I don't see why red light would weaken him, or make him normal. Did that make sense?
