Just one question! Why do the Americans call Christmas the "Holiday Season"?
It is Christmas for goodness sake! So why don't they call it Christmas? After all, it is called Christmas after the birth of Christ!! Never mind this pc "Holiday" nonsense, I mean holidays could be summer holidays, so why don't you just say CHRISTMAS?
I wondered that too but I think that it is because not everyone that "celebrates" Christmas is Christian (or Jewish or Muslim etc), calling this the Holiday Season is a overall/secular reference to the multiple religions that have festivities for one reason or another at this time of year. Also, at one point pretty much everyone with historical roots in W.Europe was Christian, but not anymore, but we still celebrate most Christian holidays (Easter egg hunt anyone?)
Yes, I can see that, but why is the Christmas part being removed in the first place? It's as if everyone is now starting to adopt the phrase "the holidays". So those that want to call it Christmas are being brow-beaten, by those who think they can dicatate to the rest of us who are happy to say Merry Christmas and not "Happy Holidays"! It's so true, 40 years from now we will not know any of the Christian feasts, Christmas and Easter will be no more. It's a takeover!
@ChrisMum Isn't Hanukkah at the same time as Christmas? There are a lot of jews in America who escaped Europe during WW2 to settle over there, and saying Christmas would exclude their holiday.
You explained this so clearly. Thanks! I've always struggled with bows, and I finally know that I was leaving out the twist step. Now it seems simple, but I didn't figure it out myself for all these years. Thanks for making this so easy! You should do more crafts things because you seem to know how to make the directions very clear and uncomplicated.
Thank you! Very helpful tip, now I can make a bow for the top of my tree.
