  • I used to have this concert on audio cassette. It was a great show, especially Linda Ronstadt of this song and The First Cut Is The Deepest.

  • Nice to see Herb Pedersen playing banjo on this song

  • @matu2252 so thats who it is!

  • Why is Linda not in the Rock /Roll Hall of Fame??!!! It's a travesty!

  • @juliedavis64 There are so many talented legends NOT in the R&RH of Fame that she is probably in better company not being in it.

  • Linda Rules

  • did anyone say who the banjo player was?

  • She's the best female singer in this genre, and I think this genre suited her best.

  • love this song. and she dose this so well. no better singer. which is put this on an album.

  • Best singer ever of all time !! Most perfectly put together woman on this planet still in 2010.

  • Damn that lady can sing

  • Marty, best female signer ever.

  • @waynemoores I digress, she is THE BEST!!

  • Really nice to see the late Lowell George of Little Feat playing bass upfront. He was another talent musician that died too soon. I just love this song and how Linda has made it her own.

  • great cat stevens song.Very nice voice of Linda.

  • Holy shit, can't believe I just saw that. I was in the audience that night, already years into my lifelong Ronstadt addiction. I'm 57 now, and this makes me feel 25 again. I have the 3/4" video tape of this show somewhere in my house. She was amazing. It was a tribute to Cat Stevens, different artists all sang his tunes. She also did First Cut is the Deepest. I'll never forget it. L.A. in the 70s. Glory Days.

  • Awesome. Agreed, this and 'First Cut...' are excellent videos of hers. 'Down So Low' is her best I think. There are many. 'Silver Threads and Golden Needles' w/the Eagles--that's really good too. I have a Gigliola Cinquetti cover of Cat Steven's 'Lady D'Arbanville' on my channel. It's quite good (although I don't speak or understand Italian--simply love her voice and the melody).

  • what a wonderful smile....and that voice!

  • Happy 63rd today 7-14-09 to one of my favorite female singers!!! I will listen to as many of my LR CD's as i can today - such a huge body of work! Thanks, Linda!

  • I believe she was born on 7/15 , not 7/14 ?

  • i remember seeing this special on tv, it was on ABC...i never forgot this song!

  • This song should have been included as is on her Living In The USA album. It fits the cover theme rollerskates and all.

  • I love the arrangement on this song...it has such a bluegrass, appalachian thing goin on ,and Lindas gorgeous voice is in top form....what a talent!

  • sung

  • Wonder why Linda Ronstadt and Francoise Hardy never teamed up. Now *that* would have been special.

  • Wonder why Linda Ronstadt and Karla Bonoff never broadcasted worldwide, that should have been a special even as Linda was going a member of the group Bryndle.

  • Yeah, my site shows I've viewed over 12,000 videos. It all began with these Linda Ronstadt videos. They are good. No doubt.

  • Still love this video (along with her "Lion in Winter" w/Hoyt Axton). Use to view both all the time many moons ago. But for some reason was subjected to a "flaming" on her "unoffical" fan club chat forum and the thrill was gone. But they're still good videos. Peace (sign as given by Sly and the Family Stone at end of "Everyday People" video).

  • there is no female country singer now who is good in this way strong full in ur face voice. there r many good ones but not this particular quality

  • This song and "The First Cut Is The Deepest" are both written by Cat Stevens. I love her singing....but check out the originals.

  • Just when I think I can't love her more than I already do, I see something new and am completely blown away! Amazing!

  • Never heard this song til now!! I love YouTube.

  • Thanks for posting.

She does not use her vibratto in the same way on later albums.

Her singing just blows away everyone else.

I don't know who comes close.

  • Everything about Linda is beautiful....her voice ...her soul....her looks.....

  • ♥♥♥ Linda Ronstadt ♥♥♥

  • She just sings her heart out in this. Same with "First Cut is the Deepest" when they give her a standing ovation. No wonder.

    Bruce Deile

  • To bad there's not this kind of pure talent in top 40 anymore.

  • Best female singer for my generation, as far as I'm concerned (b. 1961)

  • For me, best SINGER of my generation (b. 1950).

(Someone pointed out Edyie Gorme. Check her out. A different style, but what a voice. Whitney oversings, for my taste)

  • @marty6161 I feel the same way, and I was born in 1973. She is the greatest female singer I've heard in all the years I've listened to music, probably since I was five years old. Not to mention the most beautiful and the classiest. In my opinion, she is in a class by herself, and there will never be another one like her. I will always love you forever and ever, Linda.

  • I had forgotten how truely naturally beautiful she was.

    Great clip

  • natural beauty. natural talent. Linda is the best.

  • 1 Word: Fabulous

    Michael

    5 Stars !!!

  • I meant to say that most of her songs are at the top of my favorites. Such a great talent!

  • It's hard to pick a favorite of Linda's songs, but this is one of mine.

  • such a cool video!....Linda is THE best ever!
