  • I llike the Mondrian

  • He has taste, the saviour of all abstract paintings.

  • It would be nice to see the images in their entirety at once, but the detail revealed here would not them be visible. Great to see many of Mondrian's lesser known works. Also, the effects of a relatively short period of time: the grain of the wood panels raising because they were inadequately sealed, for instance. An example of why the use of time-tested artist materials is desired if one wants to create - or buy - art that will last.

  • The presentation of Mondiran's images is - more or less - in reverse chronological order.

  • Mondrian is a great 21st century shakedown artist. Taking people for their hard-earned money.

  • @beradification - Gee, I was under the impression that those who bought his work did so of their own free will. His work has been subsumed into the visual vernacular of modern culture to the extent that it is difficult to grasp from a 21st century perspective just how unprecedented his work was. In hindsight, innovation looks obvious.

BTW, Mondrian's art has risen in value exponentially, so those he 'took' made many times more money from him than he made from them.

  • @Jefferdaughter There are many precedents to his work, one obvious one is little kids' building blocks, bad stained glass windows, etc.

Just because somebody buys something of their choice doesn't mean they weren't conned. An honest person who painted those would sell them for 15 dollars.

  • @beradification - Those familiar with the development of Mondrian's work are aware of how it evolved from representational images.

Buyers of Mondrian's work freely choose to purchase them at the price offered. You are equally free to value them however you see fit. But don't expect anyone to sell you one for $15. The paintings were not misrepresented, therefore - by definition - there could be no 'con', regardless of whether you see the value. Perhaps you prefer Warhol, or Koons?

  • Or Damien Hirst?

  • Colori primari e solo linee rette, per non compromettersi con la vita; l' architettura come mezzo per l'ascesi e la liberazione dello spirito. Astrattismo essenziale ed asettico.

  • loooool

  • Oh, my goodness this piece definitely needed more symbols that it has!! The little "dart-like" break beats were okay but needed to be fused with a little more like, sssssssska-to-ba-ssssshhhkatilia-be-bing-da-ling, if you know what I mean.
