Yes this was a tragedy and I feel for the families that were affected by this but in reality unexpected shit like this happens. 3 people dead and 41 missing is something to be greatful of, there were 4200 or so people on the ship, all but the 3 are confirmed dead. I think that the thousands of people aboard the ship are very lucky to have survived and luckily only 3 died, if I could have it my way all would have survived and made it out but that just isnt the reality of the situation.

Thank you for reaching out to the victims of this horrible tragedy. There is a point that needs to be clarified. The roll of the captain is to maintain the safety of his passengers, his crew and to his vessel. What this "captain" did was wrong. He did not have permission to deviate off course and because of his actions, people died. He turned tail and ran leaving injured frightened people to fend for themselves. Ask any captain - his duty is to stay until the end.

well i am a crew member we are highly trained for this kind of situations although not everybody does have the same training if you have been for more than 2 years on a ship you should know a lot about it, now you have to think the captain is not a bartender nor a waiter that there still trained there training is far superior to a 911 doctor and equivalent to a navy seal Italian equivalent
The Captain does not have to go down with the ship or even be the last one off. He is required to ensure that all efforts are made to get the passengers and crew safely of the vessel before he leaves. He should even try to save the ship. He is not required to unreasonable risk his life if he has done his duty. His duty is not to die.
Its maritime law that the captain should abandon ship last.

Yes this was a tragedy and I feel for the families that were affected by this but in reality unexpected shit like this happens. 3 people dead and 41 missing is something to be greatful of, there were 4200 or so people on the ship, all but the 3 are confirmed dead. I think that the thousands of people aboard the ship are very lucky to have survived and luckily only 3 died, if I could have it my way all would have survived and made it out but that just isnt the reality of the situation.

Thank you for reaching out to the victims of this horrible tragedy. There is a point that needs to be clarified. The roll of the captain is to maintain the safety of his passengers, his crew and to his vessel. What this "captain" did was wrong. He did not have permission to deviate off course and because of his actions, people died. He turned tail and ran leaving injured frightened people to fend for themselves. Ask any captain - his duty is to stay until the end.

The Captain does not have to go down with the ship or even be the last one off. He is required to ensure that all efforts are made to get the passengers and crew safely of the vessel before he leaves. He should even try to save the ship. He is not required to unreasonable risk his life if he has done his duty. His duty is not to die.
