the funny thing about this video is that the song sounds like it was tracked in that room with the streemers, the reflective surfaces that rectangel (hall) shape adding to the comb filtering of this song: the boomyness of the bass guitar and kick/floor tom, the upper mid early reflection bite of snare and guitar, and the overal RT 60 of the song

I suggest people start with their album Trial of the Century to fully encompass how great and genuine this band is. Then perhaps the inhibitions of comparing them to Maroon 5, The Killers, and Coldplay go out the window.

I am in heaven at 1:20 when the drum and bass just starts flowin with that jangly guitar riff. Awesome. The big black guy is totally feelin that rhythm also! try In the Morning and Amazing by Circa Survive, i wouldn't say their guitar is jangly, but their lyrics and tone are emotional and the bass ain't that bad.

I will delve into The Walkmen's back catalogue next. This Modern Love, So Here We Are and I Still Remember by Bloc Party are songs that I would consider to be on the same level as Abandon. The chord progressions, flowing bass and fluttering melodies spark that raw romantic emotion.

I'd try Bloc Party if i were you, start with "This Modern Love" it's got the same sort of vibe to it but is better imo. Not to say that this songs not good, but Bloc Party's just an amazing band.

I would say that the closest band to this would be Peter Bjorn and John, both bands have this "floaty" style of singing. Cass McCombs comes pretty close to this too. Good song, I gotta admit.
