  • give it a slap its not fukin asleep

  • 01:25 what a douche

  • To the people complaining that the bartender is putting his hands on the mint and the glass, WTF? First this is alcohol. Do you seriously think you're gonna get cooties? Second, if you don't want other people touching your drink or food, you really shouldn't eat out at all. Think about that when you eat salad. Yes someone's HANDS were all over that. Mmmmmmmmm.

  • I'm taking my professional mixology right now and this is a great mojito video for practice! Many video I've seen use a blender and how I'm being taught is definitely NOT with a blender so it's great to see this actually being applied!

I'll be sure to incorporate slapping the mint garnish ;)

    Hi from Western Canada :)

  • I like how he slapped that mint well after 4 mojitos I think anything is funny

  • You aren't extracting essential oils you are extracting juice. I mean the oils will be there too but it's still mostly juice.

  • Loll e suja o balcão todo para fazer um Mojito!!

    Péssima técnica.

  • @citydrinking can you use Havana Club Anejo Especial Rum (gold) or dose it have to be the white? I'm thinking of making this on the weekend.

  • @krssnoop

hi & thanks for watching. You can use the Havana Club if you want, obviously it will be different to using white in the end but we tried it out after getting your comment and its still great. With every cocktail like with food its down to personal taste we are giving our opinion on the best way but if you want to use more or less, white or gold its your drink.

    Enjoy

  • @citydrinking great thanks for your opinion mate and going out of you way to test it for me, much appreciated :D

  • @krssnoop

no problem, we love what we do

thanks for watching check us out in 2011 for some new videos and keep watching in the meantime you can also follow us on twitter

  • @citydrinking ok mate, I dont use twitter but I subscribed :) looking forward to the new vids.

  • Myles - the best and most consistent youtube mixologist.

  • beautiful demonstration as always

please keep posting more video, more recipes and events, maybe more activities in school..... I have watched every bit... we really enjoy them

    best of luck

  • In my opinion (and pretty sure to many others) this is the way to make an authentic Mojito. Very well done.

  • great, better then that Eben guy. Quiality, and quick, just what a customer wants

  • Thanks for explaining how the crushed ice acts within the mojito to change the flavor. It looks like marijuana in a glass by the end, but I'm sure it's tasty.

  • the final presentation looks great..perfect

  • hmmm, he doesnt muddle the mint leaves but lets the ice work on it, interesting technique, im gonna try this, thank you for the video, i always found it difficult to get the mint flavor in my mojito

  • wow! the presentation is awsome layers of ice and mint... good stuff

  • i thought you werent supposed to muddle this drink at all

  • naw, i dont like the way he does this

  • jeez sounds so technical.. pfff

  • Finally someone who doesnt bruise the mint !!! Well done !!!

Nothing worse than muddling , and having little dark green bits of mint stuck in your straw and teeth!

  • Really nice vid. I love how u explained y u were doing steps and how it plays a key role in the taste of the drink. Thanks so much

  • i would of muddled the mint gently with the lime and sugar. Squeeze the limes first then in the mixing glass so you don't have to muddle too hard.

  • If your busy at a resturant,, you got to make it alot faster,,

  • Hes trying to show your dumbass how to do it, give him a break.

  • You talk a lot about sucking and cocks, hmmm...

  • @Cafetero1075

You can`t rush perfection. Now shut the hell up.

  • I use to bartend. If your dumbass was the customer you would be crying like a little bitch waiting for your drink so you shut the fuck up.

  • @Cafetero1075

Good for you. I`m on my 10th year as a mixologist. And my customers has never bitched about order time.

If you order a mojito or another drink that requires many steps to complete it, time is not the biggest issue - quality is.

If your customers are bitching to you, your sending out the wrong vibes mate.

  • @Cafetero1075

its a demonstration video you nimrod, of course its slowed down during explanation of the drink

  • WONDERFUL VIDEO!!!

Only thing, for future videos, is there any chance to bring the camera bit closer / zoom closer so it is clearer to watch?

    Otherwise, it's perfect, very informative!

  • Mojito isnt nice, i agree.

  • You can make me a majito anyday lol, i just make my own using ur vid instructions and there rockin my world right now lol, top job!

  • however you do it, stop putting your bloody hands every where, on the glass, mint....

  • @tommycolombo Dude i bartenders always wash their hands and keep them clean when working. Grow up.

  • @Reak55 you wash you hands every time after touching money do you grown up?

  • @tommycolombo Jesus what kind of pussy are you. If you want a bartender to use a spacesuit and plastic gloves when he is making your drink you shouldn't go out. Sit home and drink alone. capiche?

  • @Reak55 I work in a bar, a clean one, and obviously a cleaner one that you work, you don't need gloves, just a tong, nothing else, but for you maybe would be a bit too hard, wouldn't it? förstå, begripa, fatta?

  • @tommycolombo Aha du vet var jag jobbar ändå beter du dig som en liten skitunge. Var jobbar du liksom?

  • @tommycolombo no offense, but there are probably more germs in your mouth than there are on both his hands, combined.

  • im sure city drinking dont find mixing the same amount of water and sugar difficult, are you some kind of prick burnham, im sure they would use sugar syrup if they thought it was worth it, as they said you can make it how you want to your own taste whats your obsession with syrup you fat prick. why dont you make a video with your way of making a mojito, its arrogant people like you taht give brits a bad name - cock!

  • Comment removed

  • daveburnham,

what is the recipe for a real mojito? do you mean one made in cuba, the us, brazil, portugal, the uk, france , italy...... every country, every bar, hotel and club may vary in their mojito from the typr eof rum to using white sugar, brown sugar, sugar syrup or even cane sugar as we have seen in the carribean. Please dont use phrases like 'real' when discussing recipes as its all down to taste and interpretation. This is our way, if you have a different way then good on you.

  • not really, just visit the La Bodeguita del Medio in Havana and check it out.

  • What sort or type of mint are you actually using? I've heard of Hemmingway mint, but I'm afraid it's just a marketing gag. ;)

    U have any suggestions?

  • Hi TehnicNick,

    thanks for watching.

use any mint you like as long as its fresh. Thngs such as hemmingway mint etc are branded products - the rum, sugar, mint etc you use is up to and your tastes just keep the mint fresh.

    CITY DRINKING x

  • @TehincNick - I found Mentha villosa/Mentha nemorosa to be the best :-)

  • good recepie, I liked the mint on top bit. Did u go to Bas bartending school ?

  • hi 24623082,

    thanks for watching.

Myles has been trained and trained people in the are of mixology and bar tending all over the world. However using our guides a litlle reading at home and lots of practice you can gain the skills to not only make the classics but develop your own cocktails.

    CITY DRINKING x

  • Best bartender on the web.

  • this bartender does it better = search = Bacardi Mojito (Original Recipe)

  • good but! go to kefalonia, skala, captain's bar, ask for george (if he's not serving) an let him make you a mojito.. best i have ever had : )

  • Comment removed

  • Looks good and tastes good (made it myself!).

    Great guide!

  • U r da men!!!!!!!!

    looks so good...

  • by far one of the best mojito vids i've seen, bravo

  • LOL nice 20 inch crusher ^_^

  • i prefer bruising the leaves by rubbing one on other. some put the leaves together with lime, sugar and muddle it, i disagree with that cuz the lime and sugar hide up quite a bit of mint's flavour and taste. replace the rum with bourbon and you get mint julep

  • No. There's no lime in a Mint Julep. There's no soda in a Mint Julep. You traditionally serve a Mint Julep in a silver glass, not in a glass. The ratios of a Mint Julep are different. I prefer a 70 ml Bourbon to 10 ml sugar syrup (1 part sugar, 1 part water) ratio.

  • You are the man! Thanks for the lesson!

  • oh my god! that looks so fuckings good xD *water in my mouth* me thirsty!

  • verry nice man you are expert !!! can you put more cocktails on youtube?or just right me names of the most used cockteils in America ?

  • LOOKS GOOD !~!!

  • Excellent, Miles!

What people need to do is try it out - we have much more people ordering a Mojito, now (we use Havana Club 3yrs though).

Love to all the haters :p

  • shredded mint here is a perfection))))

seriously, it should be shredded! this is the point of stirring it in the end

  • This is actually very tasty, I just tried it. Is the sugar suppose to dissolve or should I leave a paste at the bottom. I kind of overdid it and shredded my mint from trying to stir up the sugar paste at the bottom.

  • one of my fav drinks!!

  • wtf,

Might aswellof not put the soda water in,

    way too much ice :S

  • Great video, just what I needed.

    mojito:cocktail cojonudo!

  • That's the worst Mojito I've ever seen in my life. What you saving your soda water for Christmas or somethin?

  • You didn't put in enough ice...

  • hahahahaha

  • I'm glad you appreciate the sarcasm :-)

  • easily one the best video demonstrations of a mojito preparation on the net

  • seconded

  • Soda Corporation: You didnt use enough, an arrest warrants been called.!

  • my favorite drink

  • wow its actually sooo simple!!!

  • The perfect mojito! Its good to see that you didn't muddle the mint leaves like most people do. I cannot put a single fault on this preperation! and very clear.

    Good Work!

  • I didn't really get it..

how much lime did he use? =)

    a half or ?

  • its 2 lime wedges with the lme being cut into 6 or a third of a lime.

  • It depends on who you ask...I prefer to use half of a lime cut into fourths and lots of club soda as well as rum makes the best mojito.

  • 1- pick 14 good sized mint leaves 2- half shot of demerera gomme 3- half shot fresh squeezed lime juice 4- use flat end of bar spoon to muddle mint leaves into gomme and lime juice. 5- taste 6- amend if neccessary 7- add fine crushed ice up to 2/3rds of the glass 8- add desired rum (personal favourite Especial) 9- stir 10- fill rest of glass with ice 11- stir 12- splash soda 13- 3 drops bitters DONE
  • apologies, i was having a period when i wrote my below comments

    should have said

" version differs vastly from what Miles has produced. but then again i was trained by someone different (Liam Davy) and have since added my twist on it"

there probably isn't a strong taste of mint to be fair.

i've seen some people making it in a boston then shaking it this pulverizing the mint. needless to say it tasted horrible.

  • Hi everyone,

There appears to be comments relating to the mint not being muddled/stamped/broken up. We would like to point out at the beginning of the video Myles uses his barspoon along to break up the mint using the ice as an abrasive. Furthermore in relation to comments about the mint garnish, its a garnish noone expects you to eat it and this drink should be drunk through straws to avoid shreds of mint from being consumed.

    we hope that helps

  • nice to see your comment again slacher01. i wish i was a flair bartender but alas after 9 years of tending i am still not very good at flairing. i do however make very good drinks and have done for a while now. i have checked your post for your version as i am always willing to learn new techniques and versions of classic drinks. but couldn't find it. could you point me in the right direction so i can check out your method.

  • una merda....usa il mattarello???? chi cazzo è sto babbo di minchia?

  • è vero...un po strano!!... hai ragione

  • vedi che questo e' uno in gamba...hai visto come versa il bacardi?è uno che ci sa fare.....

  • Man...you're a idiot

you have to put the mint with the lemon, it's important because the mojito needs a taste of fresh, if you put the mint AFTER I suppose that we have to chew it? it's the worst mojito that i've seen...

Damnit english guy. U only can make great beer.²

  • your supposed to muddle the mint as well!!!!!

  • wow

  • who use Bardaci Rum **

  • I would never drink my Mojito there,

It is importent that a Mojito have a taste of mint, you have to use your muddler in the start and stamp the mint.!

and to all you who you Barcardi, forget it,

Havana Club Añejo Blanco is the best!!

  • OMG what a loser are you supposed to chew the mint to taste it? Damn...

  • put some more soda u bastard guy..

  • Yeh... just a splash?! Think he might have a drinking problem!

  • Ma dove cazzo ha imparato a farlo? A Topolinia?

E poi..Questo mi dà l'impressione di essere un gran sporcaccione.

  • Idiot... You have to put mint first with the lemon. Than STAMP. U have to release the Mint. Damnit english guy. U only can make great beer.

  • nices

  • wat about the passion fruit and the syrup?,

  • wow thats a big stick.... i hope not used for

    other things.... :D

  • Caipirnha is the 3 most popular cocktail in the world by the internacional Drinks Magazine

  • I believe muddling the mint leaves with the lime releases some essential tasting oils but u get that in expense of some broken leaves that get in the way of your straw which can get pretty annoying. It's up to the drinkers preference at the end.

  • it better when the mint is crushed with the lime like he did in the beginning and i use brown sugar.

  • actually fine brown sugar tastes the best. seriously. it has a bit of bitter notes and mixes good with the rest. white makes it just plain "sugary". syrup is a good option but im still for the brown sugar, nothing is better. i've tried all, it's the best

  • never never never never never use simple syrup , brown or white surger other than that , just drink the dang thang anyway you want anytime you wnat , cant you tell im drinking one now!!!..really please use real surger..a message from the people who would like you to use real surger

  • as a bartender, I and my clients find the mojito is much better when simple syrup is used instead of regular sugar!

  • This is a very interesting tutorial. Here in Italy bartenders argue about whether its best to use the leaves (muddling them with the limes and sugar) or the whole sprig (muddling just the stem root with the limes and sugar). I hate broken leaves as they block in the straw whilst drinking. I like the aesthetic appearance of the sprig but muddling it can make the drink too bitter after a few mins in the sun. You may have found the winning formula...I'll try it and report my findings! Thanks Myles

  • This is the best Mojito tutorial on YouTube - they taste much better if you don't muddle the mint leaves. Cool barman and delicious recipe - thanks for posting this vid.

  • They were lime wedges, its just the light on the film. believe me i was there and we had bowls of prepped fruit including a lot of limes.

  • I'm a Cuban-American bartender and am very familiar with making rum based drinks. You probably know that this cocktail (as well as Bacardi Superior Rum, which was the rum used in the Cuba for the original Mojito and the rum that you use in the video,) originated in Cuba.

Only criticism I have is that the mint sprigs are supposed to be muddled as well.

  • Also, other facts about the Mojito...it is currently the 2nd most popular cocktail in the U.S. (behind only the Margarita.) It used to be #3 behind the Cosmo but has recently surpassed it.

  • What's #3? The Caipirinha maybe?

  • how big is the caipirinha outside of south america?

  • bacardi rum is from puerto rico.

  • no its from cuba. it even says on the bottle.

  • Facundo Bacardi was form Spain, but he established his rum factory first in Cuba.

  • we get bacardi in the states so it cantb made in cuba

  • never heard of import?

  • ever heard of the trade embargo in place between Cuba and the states since the Cuban Missile crisis?

  • they were lemon wedges.. and you need 3 (a whole lime).

  • Looks great!

  • "Give it a little slap to wake it up"

    Fantastic.

  • I'd love to see you make a Dirty Martini. There are so many variations on this classic, and I wonder how you would do so? Also, you are using those "standard" drinking glasses... aren't they called high-ball glasses? I love the technical aspect of your videos. Please keep them coming and lets here more deffinitions of what these tools you're using are :D

  • by the way, it's better to show the label of the bottle while pouring :) the back label didn't really help..But I guess that was bacardi

  • unfortuantely due to sonsorship and marketing restrictions we cannot display any brands for this particular drink

  • restrictions? bollocks! Everybody does!

  • bacardi carta blanca (superior)

  • did u use bacardi?? bad stuff!!!

  • I wonder are all your costumers like it?!...O_o

  • In regards to hemantology's comments below. Please see our previous comment. I drank this drink whilst we were filming and it was far from bitter. a double shot is 50ml by pouring for 6 seconds as you suggest you would greatly exceed this measure. With all due respect unless you have experienced the range of mojitos made in bars around the world it is hard to specify the exact recipe for a Mojito.

  • Looks delicious! nice recipe man.

  • Note for lesber2004: Both Shaker UK and citydrinking ltd are internationally recognised companies within the drinks industry. This podcast is for the industry and the general public to act as a guide to how we think a Mojito can be made but like any recipe you can make it how you want.

  • Love the mint slap. 's like a finishing ritual :D

  • you're better of using Tripple Sec

  • haha it´s really fun that he are muddling it whit that long wood-thing , he sould not have done that in a bar i hope;P

  • Myles puts in 2 shots of white rum after putting the ice and mint in the glass.

  • are u blind

  • He didn't put any rum in.....

  • shit, that looks good.

  • i've never seen a mojito made without muddling the mint before but he explains why he did it his way well. I'll have to give that a shot.

  • Most people over-muddle the mint, all that is needed is light abrasion.

  • thats totally different from the way i been shown, but im lookin forward to tryin it out.

  • yummy<3<3 I like the way he handles his tools to! haha! Karate kid

  • I've never seen that method for bruising the mint leaves. Sounds interesting; I'll have to try it sometime soon. Great tips on the crushed ice, too.

  • omg my fav only if i had mint right now!

  • Really good recipe and i like the demonstration - really helpful. The guy explains what to use and why nicely. When is the next drink up? Checed ot he site aswell must have on the favourites list. Nice one cant wait for the next drink!
