  • RPN 9 - back when it was the clock of the masses. Nakakamiss.

  • My right ear is lonely :(

  • iba noon..don't compare because basketball is a global sports everybody is playing. Lithuania that's there no.1 sport but they did not qualify, Spain actually more on football but look at them Fiba Europe Champion and can beat someday USA.but that is impossible with superstar,so PBA is still a good game to watch currently were no.46 so a job well done..Keep the faith PBA is still no.1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!no.1

  • im surprised people still watch the PBA of today…so boring compared to the PBA of the 80's..i wouldn’t waste my time….

  • e di wag kyo mnood!!!

  • All hail the MASTER, Billy Ray BATES!!!

  • Kupal na ang PBA ngayon. All those Fil-Ams who's all hype and no talent should be shot!

  • I still remember watching BRB's high flying tomahawk dunks!

  • EDI WAG KAYONG MANOOD MGA KUPAL!

  • He destroyed our basketball rim in CSA Makati.... heheh show off Grade 7 ako =).

  • the black superman of the pba

  • Pangit n PBA ngayon nkktmad mgnda p UAAP

  • bakit ang broadcast ng PBA nagyun wala ng sit down interviews gaya nito? iba talaga ang vintage era of PBA broadcasting. never boring, players were closer to the fans, we were all in a queue to see live games, always sold out ang out of town games. Filipinos were still respected in the International level. hay....

    jerkzzzz

  • WALA NG TATALO SA DATING GAMES SA PBA YUNG JAWORSKI ERA AT YUNG KAUNA UNAHAN PA ANG CRISPA TOYOTA ERA, NGAYON SA TOTOO LNG NAKAKASAWA NG MANOOD NG PBA MANONOOD NA LNG AKO NG AGUA BENDITA AT NOAH

  • the black superman "WOW"

  • is he mocking the interviewer?

  • PBA now a days para ka ln nanood ng inter brgy na laro... kakatamad, sana mauplod ung panahon nla TONY HARRIS, CARLOS BRIGGS, PTI BOBBY PARKS thnx.

  • do you remember Michel hacket, umiskor ng more than 100 points? (103 if not mistaken)

  • the black superman !?!?! hahahahahahahaha

  • wala na talaga wenta PBA ngayon puro PA-poGI....

  • Just look at Bates, he would slam in home whenever he got the opportunity. Aside from Bates madami ding matinding imports noon like Lou Massey, Norman Black, Donnie Ray Konce (hope i got his surname right), etc.

  • I miss those days when RPN 9 still showed the time on its screen.. :-)

  • yes BRB is the closest thing we had to Dr. J, i miss the guy, he is awesome, not like the imports today , all gayish game

  • Kapwa mo Pilipino sinisiraan mo, ibinababa mo. Hindi mo dapat sinasabing BOBO MGA PINOY noon man o ngayon, Matanda kang walang pinagkatandaan.

  • di bobo mga pinoy players dati, mas bobo nga mga players ngayon , wlang defense players ngayon at puro porma lng, Billy ray bates is the greatest import PBA has.see the Portland stats

  • you have a point. I don't know if he is the best. But among the PBA imports, baka Cedric Ceballos ang most famous import from the NBA.

  • si cedric ceballos, well dumating siya dito laos na, billy ray bates, is like muhamad ali , kasi me flair siya. he even predict kung ilan itatambak sa klaban , i was in college during that time.maraming import n mggling b4, porter, hacket, macneil, tolson, thirdkill, at iba pa, all nba credentials. pero iba tlga si billy ray bates

PEACE!!!

  • parang c lebron james. same built. same strength. same elevation. unstopable din.

    magaling 2.

pero mas idol q si DANNY mANNING

  • is willie pearson in this video???

  • oldies..but goodies!!!

  • I remember billy ray bates with portland in the early 80's. He was a high energy guy who came off the bench firing. I never knew why he disappeared from the NBA so quickly.

  • it was because of his attitude and drug problems

  • On January 17, 1998, Billy Ray Bates robbed a New Jersey Texaco station at knifepoint, slashing the ear of attendant Philip Kittel. He was sentenced to seven years in jail-----wikipedia

  • dude no joke this dude came to my school today to talk to us about drugs and alcohol. that guy is TALL!!!

  • "The Black Superman". Yeah, that's not racist or anything.

  • LOL. Big J called bates the black monkey or black gorilla. Now that is more than racist.

  • PBA ngayon walang kawkenta-kwenta.

  • ay nga pala, i remember carlos briggs, joe ward and michael hackett. i remember hackett scoring over 100 points or something. and there was a chant "joe-ward-ski" before, i was a huge ginebra fan. ahh nostalgia!

  • Hackett scored 103 points in 1985. But Tony Harris would break that record 7 years later by getting 105. Yeah, I remember Joe Ward, who was paired with Tommy Davis for one conference in 1988. Both were sweet-shooting imports who scored like 50 or 40 points apiece every game, hahaha. Those were the days, man.

  • I remember billy ray bates nuon, I was probably 7 years old when I started watching and playing bball. This guy inspired me to play basketball. and now that im in adulthood; I remember the good times i've had with friends emulating this guy. good times!

  • tony harris, michael hackett, sean chambers

  • those were the days!!!

  • west matthew,joe ward,jervis cole,tony white,kevin gamble,alexander

  • si Dexter Shouse ok rin!

  • the hurricane tony harris, jumpin joward, helicopter strothers and .one man team Darren Queenan ..are my picks

  • David ThirdKill and Mike Brown, the best

  • how about CHIP ENGELAND???(tama ba i-spelling ko?)lol

  • yes definitely its Billy

  • for me,, jamie waller and carlos briggs of ginebra

  • cyrus mann to me was a much better player than snake jones.also one of my favorite imports then was glenn hagan who also played for crispa and was a member of the harlem globetrotters. another import that comes to mind is former laker and ginebra import wes matthews...

  • My top 10 PBA imports 1. BILLY RAY BATES (CRISPA & GSM) 2. NORMAN BLACK (GREAT TASTE & SMB) 3. BOBBY PARKS (SMB) 4. TONY HARRIS (SWIFT) 5. MICHAEL HACKETT (GSM) 6. BYRON "SNAKE" JONES (CRISPA) 7. ANDY FIELDS (TOYOTA) 8. DONNIE RAY KOONCE (SMB) 9. SEAN CHAMBERS (ALASKA) 10.MICHAEL YOUNG (MANILA BEER)
  • Nakalimutan mo si David Thirdkill! LOL!

  • sige na nga, pang 10th si thirdkill.

  • how about rob williams, andre mccoy tandem from tanduay, michael phelps from smb, ronnie thompkins from swift

  • Yeah, Rob Williams and Andre McKoy gave Tanduay their very first championship in '86 First Conference. Williams was starting point guard for the Denver Nuggets in the early 80's. I recently saw one of his games against Isiah Thomas and the Pistons on BTV's NBA Greatest Games.

  • Derick Hamilton?

    Terquinn Mott?

    Gerard Honeycutt?

    Lamont Strothers?

    Devin Davis?

    Ronnie Coleman?

    Del Demps?

    Chris King?

  • tony harris 105 score in 1 game

  • pa english english pa ang iba dyan.tagalog lalang kaya

  • Billy Ray Bates is the most popular import the PBA ever had.

  • I searched again, sorry 103 nga.

  • You got it, man! I watched that game so I remember it quite vividly. In the same game, Arnie Tuadles, then playing for Ginebra, dished out 23 assists, breaking Mon Fernandez's record of 21. I don't know if Tuadles' record still stands. Parang na-break na yata, I'm not sure.

  • Yes, the assist record was broken by Eugene Quilban, alam ko 27 assists ang record nya.

  • Comment removed

  • it was TONY HARRIS who scored 105 pts not hacket, while in the NBA..Wilt "the stilt" chamberlain had 100

  • Yes, but before Tony Harris broke the record, Michael Hackett scored 100 in a single game.

  • Actually, Hackett scored 103 points.

  • I still do remember that he scored 100 points in a single game not 103 points. Check it bro.

  • nah... it was 103... i was among those in attendance back then. 103 points, Ginebra against Great Taste and if memory serves me right it was november of 1985 (or december). but it was 1985.

  • Where is the DEFENSE??? no wonder someone could score 100+pts.

  • but the most exciting point for point was the score of Lew Massey againts toyota, he score 70 points in 3 over time, i rmmber that,

  • DAvid thirdkill and rob williams are comparable to bates

  • chris king of the gordons gin one of the best import humble ang a true baller..

  • i drank 40s with billy ray

  • Do you have a video of Willie Bland? the import of Alaska that was disqualified. What about Winston Crite?

  • the move of bates at 2:41 was a travelling violation!!

  • billy ray had an attitude problem that's the reason why he didn't last in the NBA.

  • Today NBA rookies go through classes so they will know what to expect when it comes to having money, fans, fame, etc. In his day there was nothing. He was a poor uneducated black kid who had amazing talent but as we all know talent isn't enough.

  • Billy Ray "COULD" have been one of the best players ever. He could dunk like nobody else, dribble, rebound, pass, he could do it all BUT he had one flaw. He came from a very poor family so when he had money it all went out the window as fast as he earned it. He didn't have a mentor.

  • do you have video of sean chambers???

    the high flyer???

  • Sean Chambers wasn't much of a high flyer. Perhaps you're talking about Tony Harris?

  • sean chambers used to be a high flyer..he defeated billy ray bates in a dunking contest in the pba.

  • PBA imports play good because they play against smallaer filipinoes!!! it's like mismatch!!! put them in the NBA, they won't be able to score a point!!! PBA is for filipinoes and it should stay that way... PBA is better without foreign players...

  • He has been released and is living in the Camden and Trenton areas of New Jersey. He and former 76ers guard Earl Harrison are trying to start a basketball skills coaching clinic

  • ayooosssss too!!!!

  • You can't compare him to LeBron James.... u jst can't

  • good video...whatabout michael hackett, do u have anything bout him?

  • wow galing naman. very rare na mga video clips ng crispa-toyota lalo pa ni Black Superman, Billy Ray Bates. considered the greatest import in PBA history. Thanks.

  • Para siyang si Lebron James

Diba nde nakilala ni James Father niya,

Hindi kaya siya ang Father ni Lebron???

    hehehe....

  • great seeing this video. I saw him play before @ the Big Dome when I was in elementary school, he's really awesome. he's the 1st import i idolized. Hackett is very good too, his face always seems like he's ready to cry...hehehe

  • wow billy ray bates i remember him playing with ginebra also before alongside w/ another import michael hackett they're unbeatable during that time. ty for this video.

  • more PBA classic games from the 70s and 80s pls! wow. first time i saw footage from crispa-toyota. special requests for players danny florencio, samboy lim, rudy soriano highlights. never saw them play in their primes. everybody i talk to raves about these guys.

  • What could have been. . . If only Billy Ray had pulled it together as a Blazer, and I ask again. . . What could have been ? ? ?

  • Great stuff. Thanks so much for the vid. More classics please.
