im a little confused is this the original song or the remix cause i jus added this album to my ipod and they play a diffirent version of this song on my ipod. But then they played this version on my ipod so i was confused but when that happens it usualy says closer remix or closer part 2 but it only says closer yet it has two versions. Any one had the same thing happened ???
@Bypolarrrr This was the original back in the day on cassette. The actual video was the closer remix featuring Complexion. But when I bought the CD later it had the remix on it. IDK WTF was up with that.
@christblaka on my ipod the remix is the version that plays not this version but whats fucked up is that once i heard this version on my ipod, Idk shit is real weird cause it doesnt say on the song title " closer remix" even though is the remix that plays. Then how did i get this version as well ? Maybe the ppl who worked on this album messed up idk
@DudesaLibra yeah that reggaeton shit is killing me bro! So disappointed but fuck it his classics will live on. In New York we branded his style of tight ass fades as Nores' so I rocked one like that for atleast a decade Nore style even brought that lingo to Da Chi Logan square what what!! Ha ha peace ma bro
one of the best hip hop tracks i have ever heard and i have heard loads but none compare to this except big pun punish me which is on par wid dis but i do prefer this wicked chooon
This is a str8 classic. Shot out to everybody in the struggle that can relate to that first line...."I always look in the sky and ask why....why it gotta be like this?" Thumbs up if you said that too...
@19may0001 - This Capone N Noreaga track sampled "Closer Than Friends" by Surface. You might also like "Fast Life" by Kool G Rap feat. Nas. They sampled Surface too, a tracked called "Happy."
Whats the deal with noreaga always reppin iraq and kuwait in his songs??? anyone?? This cd was awesome, the production was SICK, don't really dig this tune though.
This shit is crazy...i was fourteen when this dropped...the soundtrack to the absolute best times of my life...wish i had a hot tub time machine and could just swing by '97 real quik...shit would be ill...and i got my first seed due August 31, 2011...so everyday i been thinkin bout that line i been sayin my whole life..." hey i have a question...I have went to a lot of dif places...why do the men in nyc seem to have a resentment towards woman and girls that have been hurt before or they say that woman over age 25 are damaged goods..where do they get these ideas from?...like they purposely ignore them and try to treat them like their no good...is this for their male ego or do they just get pleasure out of seeing them feel bad ?
@nicoleayanna --i think you are being quite prejudice towards "men in nyc"...Capone and Nore are makin music..they're not politicians trying to appease the masses with being nice....I don't know how or why you would judge about 4-5 million people(men in nyc) over some hip hop..you DO have the choice not to listen to them, instead go watch Ellen Degeneres and you'll feel better little lady..
@GDonism my question has nothing to do with capone & nore....at all...i posted it here because i know that a lot of men from nyc may be on here and able to answer my question.... its not merely a judgement that Im making but actual observation from being in nyc for about 20 plus years. anyway if u can't answer the question...then hopefully someone else will be able to
@nicoleayanna Well it's not just men in NYC, men in the inner city often have this view about women, it is not resentment, a lot of women over 25 have been hurt before, men didn't come up with these outta nowhere and I doubt if they ridicule women on that, damaged goods? whats the story with the two diff versions? I used to have the album with this version on it, but I just downloaded it online and its got a diff version of closer on it.
i only remember a few albums i didnt skip at all. like warren g - g funk era, dr dre - the chronic (both), nas - illmatic and stillmatic, a tribe called quest - love movement, mobb deep - infamous and infamy, obie trice -cheers, 50 cent - grodt(dope album to me), paris - guerilla funk, wu tang clan - enter the wu,raekwon - obfcl 1 and 2, royce da 5`9 - rock city, scarface - the diary, cypress hill- black sunday, dj quik - quik is the name, the roots - illadelph halflife ...well thats about it
good list, how could u forget snoop -doggystyle, ice-t - O.G original gangster, public enemy- apacalpse 91, cypress hill 1, domino - domino, ice cube - death certificate, nwa - straight outta compton?
not sure why we are comparing, wu with cnn and ras kass is thrown into it too? Common.. they were all classic and we should be thankful that their stuff is up here on youtube for us to enjoy and reminisce about the good years of rap, how are you gonna compare ras kass (one of the best lyricists ever agruably) to other groups that had their own distinct sounds and styles..
Nuttin can fuck with Enter The Wu Tang!!! That's up there with Straight Outta Compton and It Takes a Nation of Millions! But The War Report was a fuckin classic New York City album. I'm from B- More and a long time NY rap fan. I know good NY rap and that was it! You can rock that album straight thru! Noreaga won the MVP that year!
yo CNN War Report i think that shit is universal, i', from NYc Uptown Washington Heights and got love for my B more niggaz, but CN is so underrated eppin for NYC u dig
the real Dominican gangstaz are in the DOMINICAN REPUBLIC! These Trinis here are NEW YORK gangstaz, even if they don't speak a word of English and just got off the banana boat this is still NYC, so NYC street culture is what influences cats. Dominican niggaz on the corner look just like Blacks in Harlem, du rags, jeans sagging lettin they drawers show, Timberlands, North Face and other NYC/East Coast wear
Na man street niggaz ain't fucking with Versace and alladat, that's Kanye West shit, a NY nigga on the corner keeps it gully, we frown upon that shit. Not me personally, but most street cats in the 5 boroughs ain't fucking with that UNLESS they Don's and not corner boys, ya smell me?
yeah i know g... but im not talking about the pawns on the chess board... if ur talking wee wee talk... than thats nike air, adidas u get me the dons in UK wear dolcie and garbana, gucci louis vetong... u get meeeeeeeeee
i remember chillin in front of carvel in leffrak smokin a blunt like what real drunk, and i took a piss on the side door and the manager came out and we almost wooped him hahaha them were the days kid
This was the best album in '97 i don't care what no body says. Nore carried this album on his back. The remix for thisn song is way better than this version, though.
NOW CIPHER!!!! And this is coming from one of the world's biggest Wu Tang apologists. I wasn't feeling that album. That shit was directionless. The CNN album was so great, because nobody expected to be great. They were the '08Tampa Bay Rays of Hip Hop. Granted, the Wu are vastly superior lyricists, but song for song, the War Report holds up to both of the Wu Tang Forever CDs.
The Rays are a major league baseball team. They finished in last place every year of their existence until last year where they went to the world series. Nobody expected them to be shit and they became great. CNN embodied that underdog spirit. Halfway Thug, TONY, and LA,LA were better than those three songs you just mentioned...well maybe not Triumph, Triumph was phenomenal. Listen to that War Report album and take in the realness. I know my Brixton massive would feel that shit!!
i hear that g. but wht your sayin T.O.N.Y LA, LA, and halfway thug, there no where near the best tracks on the album.... u got bangers like chanel 10, black gangstar (capones verse) stick you parole violators, iraq see the world... thats the hardcore proper sounds fam... and what you know about brixton cuz?? u been london??
Sometimes I look up in the sky and be like why got to be like this

Yeah i agree cnn the war report was a tight cd,probably not a nice as wu tangs first cd but still raw.real hip hop back then in the 90's!!!

Noreaga won the MVP that year!

the real Dominican gangstaz are in the DOMINICAN REPUBLIC! These Trinis here are NEW YORK gangstaz, even if they don't speak a word of English and just got off the banana boat this is still NYC, so NYC street culture is what influences cats. Dominican niggaz on the corner look just like Blacks in Harlem, du rags, jeans sagging lettin they drawers show, Timberlands, North Face and other NYC/East Coast wear

... Bold face gat in your face stay in place!

"tampa bay ray" explain that plz rudeboi.... im from london i dont understand...???
naa heaterz, duck season, triumph and itz yourz... would crush any tune on da cnn album...
calibar38 2 years ago
The Rays are a major league baseball team. They finished in last place every year of their existence until last year where they went to the world series. Nobody expected them to be shit and they became great. CNN embodied that underdog spirit. Halfway Thug, TONY, and LA,LA were better than those three songs you just mentioned...well maybe not Triumph, Triumph was phenomenal. Listen to that War Report album and take in the realness. I know my Brixton massive would feel that shit!!
inzzo3000 2 years ago
i hear that g. but wht your sayin T.O.N.Y LA, LA, and halfway thug, there no where near the best tracks on the album.... u got bangers like chanel 10, black gangstar (capones verse) stick you parole violators, iraq see the world... thats the hardcore proper sounds fam... and what you know about brixton cuz?? u been london??
