This is the ultimate extension of the 'no true christian' fallacy. That to be a true christian one must adhere to specific things is hardly a new or interesting idea; Martin Luther had 95 theses all about this.

Isn't it more compelling that christians can be functional atheists at all? If they accept everything then they are not rejecting the personal relationship with jesus unlike actual unbelievers.

It seems that the metaphorical hand is reaching out but nothing is there to take it.

This book was awesome. I'll admit that he's not the best marketer but there is nothing fake or scheming behind this book. Hands down, one of the best Christian books I've read. There is a LOT of stupid crap out there but I'm telling you, this is totally legit. Ha, no magic healing or snake handling here.

@PostITnoteGUY Unless you use the Bible to support everything your saying, then your just plain right and it isn't conceit. Biblically, we can find the radical call Jesus asked of his followers, we can find the need to repent and fight worldly sin, and we find the need to live humbly and help the poor (as well as tons of other stuff). We can't say "Your a Christian and your not a Christian", but we can test people according to the standard. "You will know false prophets by their fruit"

Hey ah, Craig? you didn't "invent" the term "Christian Atheist" just look it up on wikipedia. A Christian Atheist, is one who does NOT believe in God, yet lives by the moral teachings of Jesus.

What you're describing should probably be called an Atheist Christian, one who, as you say, believes in God but lives as though he doesn't exist.

And I only take exception to it because I am "Christian Atheist" on yahoo answers, and I'll be starting a podcast based around it soon.

America was never a christian nation! If people would simply DO THE RESEARCH they would realize that many of our founding fathers were in fact NON-CHRISTIANS such as Thomas Jefferson, John Quincy, Ben Franklin, George Washington, etc. Fact is these brilliant men knew that christianity was BS and they were what's called deists! Jefferson went as far as to modify his bible! He removed all of the superstition and super natural including jesus magical powers hence he came up with Jefferson bible!

The colloquial use of the phrase "intimate" makes the whole thing just creepy. (Sorry, I am honestly having a real problem coming up with another word other than "creepy")

How do you know who has been really saved or not. How does this manifest.

Also I am sure you believe [1 Cor 13:5] Love...keeps no record of wrongs.

And [1John 4:18.8] There is NO FEAR IN LOVE, but perfect love CAST OUT FEAR. For fear has to do with punishment, and he who fears is not perfected in love. Then 1) it is clearhe keeps no record of wrongs and does not judge.

2) he is not and can not be a jealous God.

3) he has no ego and can not demand to or wish to be worshiped or placed before any other
