I dont know who wrote this song i dont know if it was a hit in the 60's i dont know if English ,or Spanish or Italian is the Best Version,we are in 2012 ,and I feel this song in my bones ,each word ,the melody ,Yesterday ,Today ,and perhaps tomorrow I dont know maybe in Mexico,Peru,Usa,and tomorrow in Europe any city no matter how bright the neon nights are,i dont know how many people i can be with,time flies and people come people go ,tomorrow i will die and still with out you is a Lonely Tow

I remember this song so well. It was my favourite song at the time back in 64 and i couldnt understand why it only made it to about number 35 in the top 40 charts Should have reached top 10

Incredible that the writers of this marvelous song did not offer it to Elvis Presley, as they did with about 50 other of their compositions. This song was a truly international hit, not so much because of Mc Daniels's brilliant version, but because both Italian songstress Mina (as "Citta vuota" in 1964), and Argentinean turned Spanish singer Luis Aguile (as "Ciudad solitaria", in 1965), had monster hits across both sides of the Atlantic. This is one hell of a song, no matter who sings it

Only just heard of Gene`s death, a fantastic singer, its a lonely town is still my favourite track, along with Another tear falls, chip chip, and point of no return, R.I.P you will be sadly missed by your fans in the U.K.

Very nice, but I much prefer Mina's version, in Spanish and Italian. I don't know if I am used to the arrangement of the Mina version or what, but I feel like this song lacks something.

I was listenig this song for so many years but in spanish performed by Luisito Aguile (ciudad solitaria) Until one day I discovered Gene Mcdaniels. I was and emosion to know that a singer like gene exists!!!!!
