Well 5 minutes into the video you give a small amount of advice. So there's really not much how, or when advice, besides "you should rest". I think it's great that you're continuing your tradition, and this is a good discussion of your experience but as someone with only a little experience it doesn't really provide much insight on how to prepare. I have a question... i might sound like a complete idiot but in terms of water fasting, how does the diet routine work? is it just strictly water or can you have fruits and veggies on a daily bases?
doesn't the kidneys shut down or something when water fasting? I mean I didn't eat for one day and already I felt kidney pain so I got scared and started eating again, otherwise I was doing well and losing weight ! do people who do water fast get any physical damage?
@MatrixReality2011 ..and words cannot describe how much better I feel now, and in turn I believe I also look 1000 times better than I used to. I used to always get sick, and now in the last 6 months I have yet to even get so much as a cold. Again, I hope you can see that I am not trying to put you down or anything, I really do wish you the best with your life and your recovery, and the more we can discuss these things in the open the better, don't you at least agree with that? :)

I just firmly believe we need to take care of our bodies, and I also believe we cannot survive simply by drinking water. I was pretty unhealthy a year ago, and since then have made a lot of lifestyle changes.....
@MatrixReality2011 That is why what I push is getting into a healthy regimen of natural organic foods, combined with regular exercise. Its sustainable, and enjoyable. Your body is a temple, god gave you this body and it is your (our) responsibility to love it and take care of it. If anything, I think you look absolutely gorgeous (no lie) and don't need to punish yourself by starving yourself. I've seen your other videos, and my heart goes out to you because of your struggle with cancer....
@MatrixReality2011 You are partially correct there. Correct in your statements about the health industry simply creating problems then selling the antidote. That's why my biggest thing is going back to our roots. Raw, healthy, organic foods. Humans surviving the way they did for thousands of years, before modern science and and manufacturers started making a business of things. Its fact that water has 0 nutrients. The body needs water, yes, but it also needs nourishment.
@MatrixReality2011 The fact is, the body cannot survive on water alone, you need nourishment. The problem with water fasts is when they are over, what then? People usually will fall back on their previous habits of no exercise combined with an unhealthy diet (The American diet usually is hydrogenated oils and fried foods, 365 days a year). If instead you get yourself on a healthy regimen of good whole natural organic foods, combined with regular exercise, you have a recipe for continued success
@MatrixReality2011 as well as your daily calorie burn and eat slightly less than that number. That way your body is fueled (hopefully with healthy, natural foods as I stated before) and will also burn away excess stored fat.
@MatrixReality2011 Hey you seem pretty hostile in your replies, I've stated a few times I mean no offense at all, it's clear we have different views and as such we should be able to have a normal discussion on them. I never said eat hydrogenated oils or fried foods 365 days a year, when did I say that? I agree 100% that is crap food and will do no good whatsoever. A caloric deficit doesn't mean eat 10 calories a day (which is what a water fast basically is) it means know your metabolic rate
PS exercise is also key. People are too busy looking for the easy way out. Nourish your body with a balanced diet of healthy natural foods, drink a shitload of water to cleanse out the toxins, and work your butt off with various forms of exercise. You'll feel a thousand times better, get sick less often, have tons more energy, and with time start to see the fat literally melting off. I didn't mean to offend, I shouldn't have said "silly", but I really don't think water fasts are healthy at all
@MatrixReality2011 Well...I'm not American, nor do I follow anything the FDA says, so I don't know why you assumed that. I do know though that water fasts are pretty unhealthy on their own, and they never really yield permanent results except in rare cases. Usually everything lost during the fast is regained once it's "finished" or "broken". It just isn't sustainable. In my experience a healthy diet of natural, organic, whole foods, with a caloric deficit is the way to go for sustainable results
No offense....but why not simply exercise and eat healthy with a slight calorie deficit? Your body will thank you in the long run, and you will most likely notice results and keep those results...as opposed to IMHO silly fasting methods that will only yield temporary results, and literally slowly kill your body

My advice to you is don't fast longer than what your body tells you, if you start to feel weak, start introducing food back into your system. Don't fast for a set amount of days just because that is the mark you want to hit. You don't want to hurt yourself. Your instincts know best. Stop the fast when you feel you need to eat again. Don't blindly just try and reach your goal.

Isn't water fasting rather unreasonable? Add to that, you can add something like a vegetable based soup (no animal protein based broths or stocks) and that's without eating the soup's solids or drink fresh vegetable or fruit juices out of the counter top juice extractor? Like feed your body with some nutrients at least during the fast.
No, during water fasting it gives your digestive system a rest and your body will focus on healing and 'tuning' if you wish, your organs and such cleansing it out. The body's main focus is always on digestion so when there's no energy being used on digesting, it's efficient for healing oneself. Green juice fasting is also awesome for you aswell, as you get nutrients and don't expell energy digesting, I'm doing a 3 day green juice this week :)

This video has some good info in it, however you didn't mention an important phase our bodies go through while fasting. At some point, depending on when your last meal was, our bodies try to reuse our processed food matter (fecal matter) that is still in our intestines, and if you eat meat than this is the case especially. Basically, if you do not do an enema or a colon flush before and after fasting, you will not only feel detox symptoms, but will most likely feel sick.
is it normal to start having a "euphoric" type high @ around 20-22 hours into it ? Seems my mind was feeling lightheaded and euphoric simultaneously last week when I did my 24 hour. Currently im 12 in on a [hopefully] 36 hour fast, and look forward to the "high", lol.

I'm thinking about doing a mini fast. The binging has been so uncontrolable for me latley. My body is swollen and sore, I just feel so physically and mentally drained. I am considering spending about 5-7 days on eating just fruits and vegetables.. wich i should just be anyways. but then maybe do a water fast for 3-6 days after. I want to set realalistic goals. I just feel like i will have more control to stop the bining if i know there is a reason i need to stay on track with what i eat now.
Some just can't understand the clarity that comes with fasting, it really helps so much!
I'm an Intermitting Faster since the first of Dec 09 it's been a really awakening about the amounts of foods I've consumed..I'm relieved to know the difference and learned what the body is about when I'm not over feeding it!
Lastly there's something called adrenal fatigue in which you stress your adrenal glands so much so, that there comes a point when, no matter what you do, you body will NOT lose weight. How does stage 3 adrenal fatigue happen? Do doing things like fasts as often as and as long as you do them.
Again, if this is purely spiritual, then good luck and more power to you. but if this is for weight loss too, you are doing yourself a great disservice.
Ok. Weight loss must not be your ultimate long term goal. It must be something spiritual you're trying to achieve because... FASTING ON NOTHING BUT WATER FOR THAT LONG IS GOING TO WREAK HAVOC ON YOUR BODY, GIRL! lol
It will make it next to impossible to keep the weight off. When you lose that muscle, it's VERY difficult to get back AND the absence of the muscle you lost makes it that much easier to put the fat back on. Also, this is horrible for your heart.
woah. 46 days. Please tell me you are going to be visiting your Doctor at least once or twice a week getting your blood checked. I heard it can really be hard on your heart. Tell me you are going to be drinking fresh spring water. Oh man I'm worried for you hon!
I would suggest making short video each day or every few days, and make a montage at the end of the week IF you are up to it. Not because you talk too much, but because videos take time and energy to make, and if you were worrying about videos and what people think about you, it may have a negative affect on your fast. If I were doing it, I would actually make the videos and save them up to share at the end of the fast so I am not distracted by videos, but don't miss documenting anything.
I have a question for you and i really hope you have an answer. I started water fasting about 22 hours ago and I am already showing signs of detox. my tongue is coated, im very fatigued and head ache. should i be worried? should i stop. i REALLY dont want to.
No you should be happy! If you can get to a sauna it will help you sweat out toxins & make the transition to fasting much easier. Also REST. The symptoms your describing are very normal!

I really want to water fast for Lent but that is 46 days and so I don't know if I can make it. The goal not being losing weight but for spiritual purposes. But I live at home so I don't know if that would freak my parents out...
Long videos don't suck, you've done some long ones that were well worth watching twice because of the information. Shorter videos encourage increase viewing on YT and help maintain your viewer base. Some of the people that I subscribe to, put up a video almost daily, if it's less than 6 mins, I watch it for sure, over 6 mins I watch every other one or look at the title to see if I want to watch it.
Believe it or not February 3, 2007 I felt led to fast two meals a day for the 40 days of Lent. It's been three years now and I've been sacrificing two meals a day..been released from 110 lbs, and counting. When I started this life style it was more of a spiritual fast. God lead me to Mark 9:29...Blessings my Roman Catholic sister, I'm a catechist for RCIA. ((hugs))
Something I would be interested in doing, but having four children and having to care for my terminally ill mother, it just is'nt possible at this point in my life.

I wish you the best of luck on your spiritual journey. I am actually also doing the same thing. I will be fasting for Lent. However, I do believe that you can do a long term fast and carry on with your daily activities. There is a youtuber named Aaroncohen who vlogged about a long term fast that she did. She had like 5 or 6 children and she had to go to work everyday and yet was able to complete 3 long term fasts. So, it is definitely possible. I will pray for you. Please pray for me n my fast.
I am very much aware of Aaron & subscribe to her videos. I have been worried about her b/c she has not updated for awhile. I think she is the exception to the rule. In addition to that I think her last fast was not healthy. From a physical standpoint she pushed herself to the point of danger. She is very spiritual and that comes through in her videos. However the number of fasts she did I think might have gone overboard.

I was on a water fast before and after about 3 days I had a most calming and spiritual feeling.. it like nothing would upset me and I would see things that others could not however I know that everyone is different I just had to share my experience with fasting. Right now I'm on the master cleanse fast however the next one will a water fast. thanks

I watch your videos because you are interesting and I learn something new. I vote for shorter videos, everyone I subscribe to seems to think that 10 min videos are a must, but shorter videos allow people to watch more people in an hour than 6 poeple who do 10 min videos apiece.

@rkventures I went to the fasting clinic so I could learn how to do a long term fast. Since then I have done several 20 day fasts. I know how to fast at home safely. I also know when to go to a doctor if for some reason the fast brings up too many toxins(I doubt that) I also know how to safely break a fast at home At this time I see no reason to go to the clinic I would not be oppose to it in the future.
You just dont want to fail again in front of people thats why you didnt want to say. But thats the way the cookie crumbles we all have our struggles.... Including me.

@kaziemae I fill my vitamix half way (packed) with spinach I throw in some celery then 3 bananas 2 apples and blueberries. I might add some distilled or spring water or sometimes I use cold green tea. This is enough to last me the whole day! This is the smoothie I make over & over again!

I prepare for two weeks. The first week I cut out all cooked vegan foods. The second week I will do mostly smoothies and a salad if I need it. I am sure I will loses a little weight before the fast. That however is not the main goal.The main goal is to detox so my transition into fasting will be easy & smooth
@EyeWearMySunglasses I understand your view! I have attempted to juice "feast" before with poor results. Most likly b/c I was not drinking enough juice and I was not drinking enough green juice. Juice feasting has its place as does water fasting. This season I am water fasting.

Lent is actually only 40 days not 46. You're not suppose to fast on the Sundays because those are suppose to be like mini Easters & a day to celebrate =) Plus fasting during Lent usually consists of one meal a day and 2 snacks.
oh also i know you have religion reasons for fasting but even a week is very beneficial, i don't think i could go a whole 40 days. I have never really been on a real fast, i have intermittent fasted a little. anyways just wanted to let you know a week is good to~erica
yeah you should really think about going to a chinese medicine doctor. they really get to the root of the problem, that way you can use natural herbs to fix your problems, and not pills. and the herbs will actually fix the problem pills just kind of cover it up. good luck!!~erica
@herbs814 Your metabolism slows down when you fast and you will get cold that is true. It is just part of the process. Your body is focused on healing while the fire in your belly comes to a halt.

No, during water fasting it gives your digestive system a rest and your body will focus on healing and 'tuning' if you wish, your organs and such cleansing it out. The body's main focus is always on digestion so when there's no energy being used on digesting, it's efficient for healing oneself. Green juice fasting is also awesome for you aswell, as you get nutrients and don't expell energy digesting, I'm doing a 3 day green juice this week :)

This video has some good info in it, however you didn't mention an important phase our bodies go through while fasting. At some point, depending on when your last meal was, our bodies try to reuse our processed food matter (fecal matter) that is still in our intestines, and if you eat meat than this is the case especially. Basically, if you do not do an enema or a colon flush before and after fasting, you will not only feel detox symptoms, but will most likely feel sick.

is it normal to start having a "euphoric" type high @ around 20-22 hours into it ? Seems my mind was feeling lightheaded and euphoric simultaneously last week when I did my 24 hour. Currently im 12 in on a [hopefully] 36 hour fast, and look forward to the "high", lol.

I'm thinking about doing a mini fast. The binging has been so uncontrolable for me latley. My body is swollen and sore, I just feel so physically and mentally drained. I am considering spending about 5-7 days on eating just fruits and vegetables.. wich i should just be anyways. but then maybe do a water fast for 3-6 days after. I want to set realalistic goals. I just feel like i will have more control to stop the bining if i know there is a reason i need to stay on track with what i eat now.

Some just can't understand the clarity that comes with fasting, it really helps so much!
I'm an Intermitting Faster since the first of Dec 09 it's been a really awakening about the amounts of foods I've consumed..I'm relieved to know the difference and learned what the body is about when I'm not over feeding it!

Lastly there's something called adrenal fatigue in which you stress your adrenal glands so much so, that there comes a point when, no matter what you do, you body will NOT lose weight. How does stage 3 adrenal fatigue happen? Do doing things like fasts as often as and as long as you do them.
Again, if this is purely spiritual, then good luck and more power to you. but if this is for weight loss too, you are doing yourself a great disservice.
The human body needs nutrition.

Ok. Weight loss must not be your ultimate long term goal. It must be something spiritual you're trying to achieve because... FASTING ON NOTHING BUT WATER FOR THAT LONG IS GOING TO WREAK HAVOC ON YOUR BODY, GIRL! lol
It will make it next to impossible to keep the weight off. When you lose that muscle, it's VERY difficult to get back AND the absence of the muscle you lost makes it that much easier to put the fat back on. Also, this is horrible for your heart.

I would suggest making short video each day or every few days, and make a montage at the end of the week IF you are up to it. Not because you talk too much, but because videos take time and energy to make, and if you were worrying about videos and what people think about you, it may have a negative affect on your fast. If I were doing it, I would actually make the videos and save them up to share at the end of the fast so I am not distracted by videos, but don't miss documenting anything.

I have a question for you and i really hope you have an answer. I started water fasting about 22 hours ago and I am already showing signs of detox. my tongue is coated, im very fatigued and head ache. should i be worried? should i stop. i REALLY dont want to.

No you should be happy! If you can get to a sauna it will help you sweat out toxins & make the transition to fasting much easier. Also REST. The symptoms your describing are very normal!

I am very over weight and i really want to complete a detox however today is the morning of day 3 and ive lost 6 pounds already. so im scared i might lose too much weight too fast like 20-30 pounds in 10 days. which, cant that hurt your heart really bad?

Long videos don't suck, you've done some long ones that were well worth watching twice because of the information. Shorter videos encourage increase viewing on YT and help maintain your viewer base. Some of the people that I subscribe to, put up a video almost daily, if it's less than 6 mins, I watch it for sure, over 6 mins I watch every other one or look at the title to see if I want to watch it.

Believe it or not February 3, 2007 I felt led to fast two meals a day for the 40 days of Lent. It's been three years now and I've been sacrificing two meals a day..been released from 110 lbs, and counting. When I started this life style it was more of a spiritual fast. God lead me to Mark 9:29...Blessings my Roman Catholic sister, I'm a catechist for RCIA. ((hugs))

I wish you the best of luck on your spiritual journey. I am actually also doing the same thing. I will be fasting for Lent. However, I do believe that you can do a long term fast and carry on with your daily activities. There is a youtuber named Aaroncohen who vlogged about a long term fast that she did. She had like 5 or 6 children and she had to go to work everyday and yet was able to complete 3 long term fasts. So, it is definitely possible. I will pray for you. Please pray for me n my fast.

I am very much aware of Aaron & subscribe to her videos. I have been worried about her b/c she has not updated for awhile. I think she is the exception to the rule. In addition to that I think her last fast was not healthy. From a physical standpoint she pushed herself to the point of danger. She is very spiritual and that comes through in her videos. However the number of fasts she did I think might have gone overboard.

I was on a water fast before and after about 3 days I had a most calming and spiritual feeling.. it like nothing would upset me and I would see things that others could not however I know that everyone is different I just had to share my experience with fasting. Right now I'm on the master cleanse fast however the next one will a water fast. thanks

I watch your videos because you are interesting and I learn something new. I vote for shorter videos, everyone I subscribe to seems to think that 10 min videos are a must, but shorter videos allow people to watch more people in an hour than 6 poeple who do 10 min videos apiece.

@rkventures I went to the fasting clinic so I could learn how to do a long term fast. Since then I have done several 20 day fasts. I know how to fast at home safely. I also know when to go to a doctor if for some reason the fast brings up too many toxins(I doubt that) I also know how to safely break a fast at home At this time I see no reason to go to the clinic I would not be oppose to it in the future.

@kaziemae I fill my vitamix half way (packed) with spinach I throw in some celery then 3 bananas 2 apples and blueberries. I might add some distilled or spring water or sometimes I use cold green tea. This is enough to last me the whole day! This is the smoothie I make over & over again!

I prepare for two weeks. The first week I cut out all cooked vegan foods. The second week I will do mostly smoothies and a salad if I need it. I am sure I will loses a little weight before the fast. That however is not the main goal.The main goal is to detox so my transition into fasting will be easy & smooth

Lent is actually only 40 days not 46. You're not suppose to fast on the Sundays because those are suppose to be like mini Easters & a day to celebrate =) Plus fasting during Lent usually consists of one meal a day and 2 snacks.

yeah you should really think about going to a chinese medicine doctor. they really get to the root of the problem, that way you can use natural herbs to fix your problems, and not pills. and the herbs will actually fix the problem pills just kind of cover it up. good luck!!~erica
