Well my dad is pretty overweight, not obese though. It's because of all the medications he takes because of chemicals he was exposed to while in war. He exercises and heats healthy more than most fit people. He's a very active person. Speaking as an American who weighs 120 pounds and is a competitive long-distance runner, I can tell you that I have seen plenty of fat Americans but nowhere near 30% of the population is obese in my experience.

Most of them don't even know where is Europe on the map, not even Hungary, and most the Hungarian children knows where is the USA and even knows many and many of It's states. Obesity, like most health issues, is a complicated by biological, social, and psychological problems. Often times its not as easy as just exercising or eating less. You have to address these other issues if you are truly to see a change in people. Obesity didn't just spring up over night so it's not going to go away as such. I believe it all starts with better health and physical education. Better equip our youth with these tools and perhaps we'll see a decline in obesity.

I'm gonna have to agree with SerbianJudo on this. These days people take refuge in the saying "it's just the way I am" too much. I used to be a fat mofo but I got sick of it. I don't enjoy exercise any more than the average person but you have to maintain your own health and not blame it on anything or anyone else.

@rbcruce I'm willing to bet that out of all the obese people in America, AT LEAST 98% of them would be able to control it through diet and exercise alone. A condition may make it easier for someone to get fat, but that doesn't mean there's nothing they can do about it.

Well my dad is pretty overweight, not obese though. It's because of all the medications he takes because of chemicals he was exposed to while in war. He exercises and heats healthy more than most fit people. He's a very active person. Not everyone can control it because if he stops taking his medication to lose weight he could die from not having it. Please don't make judgments by appearance. Most people can control it but not all.

@blizard0717 It's definitely a huge problem. At the very least the financial strain is killing us. There are a lot of causes of obesity. I think one of the big things we see in the U.S. is how we produce food. It's not natural. Obesity is an epidemic and we're not addressing it properly. People die every day from this. But the rest of the world has this irritating stereotype of Americans that just isn't accurate or fair. I'm getting really sick of it.
