To be honest i also prefer Dan voice and matter of fact i think Derek sings better than Dan and Matt. but when it comes to writing, Matt is just ahead of both Dan and Derek. Matt has such unique metaphors and his writing is so poetic. If you set aside the voice and just read through the lyrics you will see what i am talking about. one example is "Nose Over Tail" in my opinion i think this song kills many love songs out there even tho this song is so simple "crack my head open" haha love that.

You can list every song in their discography (which you seem eager to do in order to prove your Trio-cred for some reason) but the simple fact that Matt has a higher volume of his work included doesn't mean that he's a better writer.

Matt definitely has great stage persona but I think over the years Dan has been a more consistent vocalist as Matt has struggled with various vices and demons, but I do prefer Dans songs on the later albums.
