This episode has what TVTropes would classify as a "Broken Aesop". While the lesson of the previous episode was that if you work hard, you can overcome every difficulty (that's what the lyrics of "Conflict Approaches" say), this episode teaches you that working hard will get you nowhere, so you need supernatural powers that can be activated by people clapping.

Either you're joking or you don't get it's a metaphor for what people can do by working together.

Except that Captain S did all the work. The head shouldn't have told the gamers to "clap for Captain S", it should've told them: "Vanquish your fears, take control and help Captain S!", then the gamers should have started playing. And we should have seen many video game characters (each controlled by a different gamer) help Captain S and reach Game Genie's castle together. THAT would've been an effective lesson on team work.

Maybe, but let's remember a couple things.

1) This is a nickel and dime production. As much as I like Captain S, they could only show so much.

2) Having anybody with a game console able to participate in the fight against Game Genie kind of renders the entire concept of Captain S redundant.

3) We're probably thinking way too much about a show meant to be a cheesy parody of a 90's kid's cartoon and teen comedies.

The answer to 2) is simple. Only when Captain S is in Videoland, other players can actually interact with Videoland. Otherwise, what they see on their screens is just a "simulacrum" of Videoland, which only represents what Videoland currently looks like. However, whatever action they make in the game does not affect the actual Videoland.
