  • lol,I just realized you can unscrew the top and use any bottle, even a 2 liter lol,Just affraid to pump that 2 liter up to 100,I've done so to 80psi,twice the fun

  • Right hooks are deadly.

  • Seen your videos before, always thought "do you really need a horn that loud"??

    Question answered.

  • @KingRizlaa :D Whilst it's louder than some car horns, there are plenty of car horns that are louder than this one. It might not sound like it as my horn is much closer to the camera microphone than a car horn.

  • I have GOT to get myself one of those.

  • love these horns, thanks for posting

  • Where abouts can you get a bike mounted horn?

I can see that coming in handy.

  • Google up "AirZound"

  • Thanks.

  • I think you need a beefier horn and you will get even more respect :L

  • LOL, like a train horn? Search on youtube for some of the videos, v. naughty but also funny.

  • The amount of times I've been situations like that, thinking 'See me, seeee me, BLOODY LOOK AT ME!!'

  • And this exact situation is what caused the death of my bike. I need a horn like that!!

  • I was absolutely bricking myself!!! I hope your crash wasn't too bad, it gives me the shivers just thinking about it again.

  • That's a good horn.

  • lsmike, you mention often that you're more visible to drivers on your recumbent than an upright bike.

I've never ridden (or even seen) a recumbent, but they appear to have a smaller surface area from the front, so I'm wondering why people notice you more?

Is it simply because they're unusual and people pay more attention when they spot you?

  • I'm not sure, but I think it's because of the bike+rider making a good impression of a predator. There's something catlike about the leg movement. For example, it often causes horses to freak out.

I have to be careful around horses on the road. Go slow, talk to the horse, stop and stand up, or hide in a bunch of normal cyclists.

  • HAHAHA. I have to say, that is not the answer I was expecting. It does make sense though. Very interesting.

That's so curious about the horses. They can be very bizarre at times. I knew a horse once who would completely freak out over plastic bags, crunch leaves, small rodents etc.

  • Crouching low, fast, and that rolling of shoulders you see from a stalking big cat...

Lowness isn't a problem for being seen, as otherwise painted lane markings, give ways, etc., would be a waste of time. Besides which, my lights aren't the highest bits on my bike, and they are still just as high as the head and tail lights on many cars. And higher than numberplates. Being able to see all of these is a requirement of our drivers' licenses.

  • The horn for the bike... would be a good good good idea...

  • This happens every other week or so, regardless of whether i'm on my [upright] bike or in a car. Usually I just slow down and let the guy pass.

  • It happens less often to me on the recumbent than on my upright, I guess because it freaks drivers out.

  • What did you call him? ;-)

I love my airzound too, it just doesn't work so well in the cold I found.

    What camera do you use?

  • I didn't shout at the driver - we all make mistakes, and she did a good job of correcting as soon as she realised.

    It's a VIO POV.1 camera.

  • Oh, sorry, I thought that was you saying something at 0.11/0.12.

  • lol i didnt know bikes had horns

  • LOL, yeah. It's an AirZound - you pump it up with a bicycle pump. They're pretty good.

  • Love the air horn!!

  • They made a mistake and they stopped. Many drivers would have continued! Nice to see the airzound working :). I had someone cut across me out of a junction and they didn't stop like that with it.

  • Yup, I'm very glad (and grateful) she realised and stopped. I also make mistakes after all.

  • Surely on the recumbent you're so low down that you could just go straight underneath the car? :D

  • Well anticipated though. Not sure I would have looked that far ahead, but then I don't go that fast ;-)

  • LOL, it's only because that's a big downhill and I'm on a recumbent. On the dun run one group was calling me "the missile". Pity about the uphills, I'm slower than a slow thing.

  • Fairly overcast there, I noticed a couple of cars had lights on. What about you ?

  • I didn't have mine on, and it might have been a good idea. It's not actually overcast, just a low sun from the side. More visible in the high quality view.

  • i've switched lights on and removed the switch so they are on all the time then drivers can't say i didn't see you

  • Just a normal day then! They're always going that...

  • Funnily enough that sort of manouevre is very rare when I'm on the recumbent, the bike puts the fear on car drivers.
