  • I like how this video is just a bunch of cuts talking shit about the stimulus package, but offers no alternatives. Great stuff.

  • @IAmKr1gg3r The alternative (obviously) is to LET THE MARKET WORK. It is the government intervention that has prevented recovery long before this.

  • This is a joke right? Two surveys of economists found that most economists thought the stimulus reduced unemployment (along with a similar petition with hundreds of economists for the stimulus)

But what did the stimulus actually do? Studies have shown that crowding out did not happen and unemployment went down both nationally, and states that got the most stimulus funds per capita had the best job growth.

  • If we did these things -- cut spending, cut taxes -- we would be out of this recession and we would see economic growth.

  • @UBSCARED You're a LIAR! from 2003 to 2008 NPPTTL INCREASED from 107.6 MILLION to 114.5 MILLION, a 6.4% increase in the number employed. Learn how to read statistics you nitwit.

  • the government has to spend money to create jobs. that money comes from tax payers. those tax payers would have otherwise spent that money. that spending would have created jobs. (yes, printed money also is taking from tax payers)

so the question really is, who spends money better? the government who has 1000s of lobbyists, backed by corporations, begging for a share of the pie?

or the individual who has complete rights over what their own money on?

  • @100CommonCents The problem w/ur analysis is that it is INVESTING that creates wealth. We shouldn't acre about job creation because that's stupid: Please name for me any Private Enterprise created for the purpose of "creating jobs." Job creation is an ancillary aspect of creating or expanding an enterprise - unless it is a government enterprise, which is why allowing gov't to do a lot is stupid because they do things so inefficiently. I think ur saying the same thing I am but w/less clarity.

  • @UBSCARED you a complete idiot.

the government has to spend money to create jobs. that money comes from tax payers. those tax payers would have otherwise spent that money. that spending would have created jobs. (yes, printed money also is taking from tax payers)

so the question really is, who spends money better? the government who has 1000s of lobbyists, backed by corporations, begging for a share of the pie?

or the individual who has complete rights over what their own money on?

  • Wow, they say that the "stimulus plan" in the 1930's didn't work on US television ? Behead the blasphemous witch !!!

  • I love how ABC titled their segment "What if we did nothing?"

Head for the hills. Some people don't think we need massive government intervention.

  • It is obvious that the govt cannot control its spending (Not just Obama but past administrations are equally as guilty). Sadly, something extreme like a civil war will have to happen to stop this madness....

My proposal on CUTS to govt spending are arts funding, foreign aid, and especially the war

  • The stance of no government? If we all took that stance, we'd end up being nothing more than the animals we hold ourselves superior to. Individuals would starve to death, be beaten, murdered, robbed, raped, die of sickness, and live in suspicion of their neighbors.

Civilization is what makes us human. And above all, GOVERNMENT is the key prerequisite to existing as a civilization.

At any rate, the stimulus is working. 162000 jobs made last month... hope you libertarians will sthu now, kay?

  • And government is a growth suppressant... really?

In the Chinese First Five Year Plan under Mao Zedong, 62.5% of industry was state owned, and the rest under joint public-private ownership, copying the Soviet-style economy which brought it into industrialization in short time.

Each year under that plan, annual industrial growth was 19%. And they think 10% GDP growth under market policy is great! And don't bother saying it didn't help workers; national income grew at a 9% annual rate!!

  • Hundreds of second rate economists? Oh well. Can't please everyone.

Look, right-wingers can ignore the successes of Keynesian economics all they want. But they're already, again, proving themselves to be superior to trickle-down-economics.

P.S. Big spending under Bush was a non-beneficial war and trickle-down-tax-cuts. Roosevelt, btw, got out of the Great Depression through government payment for soldiers to get four years of free college education. That's BIG GOVERNMENT SPENDING!

  • @nafaidni That is false. It was not just those policies, during and after world war two all the other nations industry was gone from the battles. The only national supplier left was the United States, this was a boost to our demand and our economy. Also, in order for Keynesian economics to work in the context of the latest problem, they must take money out of the financing sector via borrowing.

  • @ThegoodEconomist

The Great Depression was already in its waning years by the time the war started. This was in part attributed to the New Deal. But again, the massive manufacturing capabilities the United States got from WWII was funded by the national government. If it were not for the national government's actions, the growth of Post-WWII America would likely not exist.

And they are not borrowing from this country so much as from others. So it is of no immediate cost to the economy.

  • @nafaidni The United States did not enter the war until late, all the rest of the world was fighting, so naturally the depression was falling out from our larger exports. I do agree that the government stimulus from the war helped alot, but you must look at it in the proper context, the new deal did not have anywhere near the effect that your are talking about.

Also, it does not matter that they got the money from other countries, we could have used that investment in the private sector.

  • Cutting taxes without cutting spending only increases the size of the government, prolongs, if not deepens, economic stagnation. Cutting taxes, and only cutting taxes, will only make things worse.

  • Seaplaneguy: Well some of the white trash have to be bailed out.

  • Obama is doing what FDR did...changing the rules, and threatening private capital with confiscation. FDR made the 1930's into a Great Depression, and Obama is 2.0.

Government, elected and buros, need to be term limited...must go back to private sector for 4-8 years before they can get job in government.

  • Money stimulus is like giving booze to a drunkard, hoping he will recover.

  • Are you talking about Alan Greenspan.

  • The economic stimulus hasn't stopped the recession.

The mortgage stimulus hasn't stopped the foreclosures.

The banking bailout, hasn't stopped the bank failures.

The auto bailout hasn't helped the car companies.

I guess the answer is MORE STIMULUS/BAILOUT MONEY.

  • In debt? outta money? CHARGE IT

  • Can you please elaborate?

  • Comment removed

  • That just doesn't make any sense.

  • Considering the amount of exposure the Cato Institute is getting with 'stimulus package' politics, how come the highest ranking of the videos is 27,000 and most others are a couple of hundred? Yet the channel has 'most subscribed' awards too?

How come vast numbers of intelligent, intellectual democrats are backing Obama on this?

Some things just aren't adding up. Am I missing something obvious?

  • It's not about who has the smartest smart people. You have to look at the arguments and decide for yourelf.

  • YES Papa Bear!!! Lower taxes and smaller government!!!

  • Keynesian "Pump priming" or so called "Stimulus Packages" Failed in Japan in the 90s and now the debt is 170% of GDP. In 2007 the US Debt was 60% of GDP, and by the time Obama is done it will be over 200% of GDP

  • Dude, you know nothing about The Cato Institute. No one should pay a tax on his earnings. Read a book before you spout.

The libertarian principle is simple. If it doesn't deprive me or anyone else of life, liberty or property, I don't care about it. If everybody adopted that stance, there would be far fewer entitlement minded idiots.

  • @alfalfa31

Well, see, in my view, your income consists of dollars. Currency, and the value and regulation thereof, are made by the GOVERNMENT.

So really, they're not depriving you of anything you didn't already get from them when they're taxing you.

If they didn't tax you, you wouldn't even earn a goddamned dollar! You'd be paid in eggs! And you'd be bartering for your television and internet in potatoes!

If that's the lifestyle you want; go ahead and be a libertarian. Don't ask for commie $.

  • @nafaidni So, in your world of circular logic, a government passes a legal tender law, enforces it through coercion, and that's a good thing? For the privilege of private money use, I should enjoy taxation and inflation of a currency the government mandated I use?

You presume that commerce would not exist without government. I say that commerce exists in spite of government. Currency is whatever people will accept as payment, not dollars. Dollars are a fiction, much like your education.

  • @alfalfa31

Yes, that would be a good thing. Force is a theoretical resort to when people cannot deal with their problems in a civil manner, and the less the right to use force is legitimately handed out, the better.

Again, if you thing that currency is anything people will buy, just try it. Ask your boss to pay you in precious metals. See if he agrees or if he tells you to go to hell and get back to work. And try trading silver to a local Safeway and see if they accept it.

  • And the government doesn't mandate you use their currency. It is simply so convenient that society no longer will accept anything else. That's simply the fault of the market for accepting the benefits of government-made currency.

Trust me, there is a reason no one barters anymore, despite what that Republican Senatorial candidate says. The wants and available goods of different people are often incompatible. Without a universal standard of wealth, commerce would be strained and limited.

  • @nafaidni Hmmm. Read the note: "This note is legal tender for all debts, public and private". If you owe me a dollar-denominated debt, I have no choice but to accept the "legal tender". I can try to write a contract where I insist on payment by other means, but Gresham's law ("the bad money drives out the good") works too well. If I insist on specie payment, then I'll have to accept less to compensate the buyer for his inconvenience in having to hunt up money with intrinsic value.

  • This is shit! Our kids are born with debt from silly administrations from both stupid, dynastic parties we have today. How can so many people believe this crap will work?? The system needs restructuring and we need more say in these affairs, not our "state reps"

  • 12FlyMe, You're wrong. Cato favors getting rid of the income tax and the IRS and replacing it with a national sales tax. That means the government wouldn't tax hard work or productivity, but consumption. Also, without the capital gains tax, people would be allowed to save their money.

What does the "tax system" have to do with credit [default] swaps? What do you mean by "stock manipulation"?

Also, Cato is named after "Cato's Letters," a series of letters written by two British men.

  • I agree if our forefathers saw a need for a flat rate of taxation, they would have included it into the Constitution; however a Federal income tax is 100% illegal and not adhearing to the Constitution. Only individual States have the ability to tax one's income, NOT the Federal government.

  • Evidence?

  • It's official: I'm never voting Democrat again.

    Ever.

    Same goes for the Republicans.

  • hey is anyone having issues posting this video to facebook?

  • nope, choose the link option

  • I agree with this video. The market MUST be allowed to run its course without intervention. Capitalism is meant to reward success and punish failure. Those who have lost their jobs will have to find other ones. Those who have lost their homes will have to live with relatives. Those who can not eat will simply have to steal food. Those who can not afford their own health insurance will simply have to die off.

  • Why? If a system doesn't work and reduces honest people to stealing food in a first-world nation then what fucking good is it?

  • You couldnt be more wrong. The only bank that is improperly regulated is the Federal Reserve bc there is no regulation on it. The fed for years now has caused distortion in the markets, creating artifical interest rates, and thats the whole cause behind this entire financial problem. Those interest rates is what led to the housing crisis. Not free markets and capatilism because many would agruee that we havent had that since before the great depression

  • I maybe a libertarian but this isn't right. Improperly regulated banks causing moral hazards against prudent lending had more to do with the crisis than gov't.

  • This is so funny, I've been saying he was going to do this. lol just wait Amero will save us!

  • they'll keep the money and ask for more or file bankruptcy it will all end up in court.

  • Economists... how often can an entire caste of professionals fuck the entire world up before they loose all credibility? If engineers put up structures that collapsed every five or ten years the word would be a popular slur in the English language by now. MBAs and Economists have effectively done just this in the world of money, yet a degree in said discipline from an ivy league is still considered valuable. Why?

  • Would engineers do a better job not fucking up the world economy?

  • 1) Maybe because economists didn't cause the recession. It was caused by *everybody* living beyond their means and lending, borrowing, and spending recklessly with no thought toward the future.

  • Comment removed

  • 2) Maybe because because, as you described, the economy's collapsing "every 5-10 years" is an inevitibility (it's actually on average every 18 years for every significant recession). Economies are cyclical by nature. Boom-bust cycles are a way of life, just as our planet's changing seasons. Booms are NEVER indefinitely sustainable. EVER. UNDERSTAND THIS, and you'll be immediately be prepared to make better decisions than 90% of the populace.

  • 3) Maybe because economists are actually some of the few people who actually understand how the "world of money" works, why we have recessions, and how we get out of them.

    4) Maybe because economics is a SCIENCE. You cannot argue against economics, just as you cannot argue against physics. It just *is*. Our knowledge of the economy is ever-improving. But simply throwing it aside (as well as ignoring history) and deciding to react to a recession by dumping money into the economy is FOOLISH.

  • True! And, for the Keynesian idiots: Economics is a science revolving around HUMAN ACTION. You cannot quantified or measure the thinking or plans of an individual, let alone an entire society. All these useless curves and equilibrium are pure nonsense that have destroyed people understand of basic economics. Economics is the easiest field of study. Saving plus production equal wealth, spending plus taxation equal poverty.

  • Final note: stop worrying. This recession is *nothing* compared to the Great Depression. This recession isn't even anywhere near the recession we had in the 80s. Heck, even the recession we had at the beginning of this decade was more severe than this one. Don't believe me? Ask an economist to show you the data. We're going to recover, and sooner rather than later. However, this bailout is going to muck things up a bit in the long run.

  • deadpool03mm: Judging by your two responses to me, you clearly have no idea what economics is, nor what science is. Economics is a science because it's an objective study that utilizes the scientific method to explain phenomena, just like any other science. Also, economists didn't invent debt, as you seem to believe. People have been taking out loans at interest for as long as currency has existed, long before economics was even a *word*, no less a scientific study.

  • The income tax is the most absurd tax ever. All taxes should be fees for things like licenses or excise taxes, where you can CONTROL the amount of tax you pay more easily. Rather than it being confiscated by government.

  • I say a simple flat tax, where all but the extremely impoverished pay 15 percent of their income to taxes.

What was the graduated income tax meant to accomplish, anyway, and has it? If not, I wouldn't see much reason to start off a flat tax, and take a look as well into the welfare entitlements. The entitlements, which very few people buy into anyway need to get slashed for inefficiency. So much of the federal budget goes to welfare entitlements, that it deserves at least some editing.

  • Who is the black guy on Larry King in the vid?

  • Juan Williams. He's on NPR but is also a Fox News contributor and regularly appears on shows like "Hannity" , "O'Reilly Factor", and Special Report w/ Brit Hume (now Bret Baier's show, obviously) as a panelist. He's a moderate Democrat, I'd say. Or a right-leaning Dem who still is very liberal on some things.

It's hard to really pin this guy down into one ideology. Just when you think he's just another ridiculous Republican on Fox, he says surprisingly liberal stuff.

  • Obama is just a puppet. This will become evident during his administration.

  • Barack Obama is a complete and utter useless failure just like George W. Bush. This "Stimulus" Bill doesn't do jack shit for hard working Americans like me. A 13 dollar a week "Tax Cut"? Thanks for NOTHING Obama. The Right Wing bastards were right, this stupid ass "Bill" is nothing but "Pork" I can't believe i let myself be fooled into voting for this lying "Articulate" hack. Even big Oil think hes a God Damn joke. Gas prices are rising yet a barrel of oil is falling.

  • Juan Williams @ 2:22: hallelujah. That guy should be president and not the affirmative action case that is Barack Obama.

  • Umm...that's not Juan Wiliams, just a lookalike

  • My bad. Whoever he is, he speaks the truth.

  • How much did neoRepublicans pay to these CATO enthusiasts?

If CATO is such a great non-profit research group, howcome they never figured the fallacies within the Bush BANK BAILOUT?

oh thats right, he's from the party that finances CATO....

  • I have my right to be skeptical of Obama, but if we are to blame someone for all this economic crisis, its not Obama, who is at least making radical moves to solve it, but BUSH, the one who began all this mess. YES that neoRepublican son of a bitch bush. Other Republicans have been admired throught history, but bush is just a TOOL if penis chenney. Yea, Chenney was the brain behind : iraqi freedom, patriot act, government spending etc

Chenney, whom has influenced the w/h for 3 decades

  • Bush enacted the tax cuts that staved off recession in the wake of 9/11. If Bush can be blamed for anything, though, it would be his spending on education, farm subsidies, and healthcare. Not that Obama's party wasn't in complete agreement with that wasteful spending. If Obama had been serving in Congress at the time, he would have gone along with the No Child Left Behind Act and the drug prescription legislation just like every other Demo. Spending taxpayers' money is the DP's raison d'etre.

  • OK, Republicans don't have to take the money

  • LOL, "HOPE" "CHANGE"..."OBAMA"? Nope, I think all his posters and other campaign material meant to say, "PRINT" "PRINT" "PRINT"..."OBAMA"

That's right Obama, just print worthless, "Federal Reserve Notes" and screw us over. It's actually what we need. That way it will cause such horrific damage to our overall infrastructure that it will eventually force real "CHANGE"

  • This is a controlled demolition, just like 9/11 was! Global governance,Google it!

  • You morons had your chance. You ruined the economy. Now get out of the way and let the grown ups fix it.

  • Who ruined the economy? Taxpayers? If "we" get out of the way then the government will have no money to pay for shit like saving endangered mice and BULLSHIT like that. You have been lied to just like me. The only difference is that you believe them and I don't. No earmarks? Do you believe that shit? You don't want me out of the way because I pay alot in taxes and get no help when hurricanes destroy my crops. Maybe I should import some mice, then the "gubmint" will come running.

  • I love how its all Republicans fault about this recession. Had nothing to do with the 90's Democrats going for the "everyone deserves a house even ones they can't afford."

This is both parties fault. The best way to stop/prevent any further drop in the markets is tax breaks, not spending and creating more work (not jobs because when the work is gone all the people will be back to where we started).

And one last thing cacaduk do we really need an amtrac train taking people from FL, Ca, to NV

  • They're all the same. Republican...democrats...

    government spending and borrowing....

    they all caused it

  • WOW that was a good vid....scary shit

  • youshare . com - upload your mp3s, videos, pictures, and files for free! Unlimited downloads and uploads!

  • Pres Obama promised the world and delivers us a desert. He promised change and there will be none. Now its up to us to speak out. For whats ahead is something real bad. You just can't throw money away. We have to start to work together. For if we can't then it over. It starts here. But too we must quite listening to what we want to hear and listen to the truth...

  • "Obama is giving us the same, big spending interventionist approach as Bush" Does this Surprise you ?! The only thing that has changed is the color of the presidents skin. But it seems like it's ok with some of the brain dead masses out there because it's not Bush doing it this time. Change people ? Really !!?? CHANGE !? WAKE THE FUCK UP !!!

  • awesome video!

  • This was on CNN??? Great not just Fox News.

  • END - THE - FED - !!!

  • I am sick of both parties. Lindsey Graham just said to on meet the press 2-15-09 that he is for nationalize the banks. I am sorry I thought he was Republican? Michael Steele needs to Censure him. We need small government and lower taxes for everyone. They said today we get 26.00/month. i read the stimulus bill it is spending nothing more nothing less. Americans have been duped. I call for a recall on all congress and senate and get new people in their that knows the constitution.

  • What do you expect?? Obama is a LIAR.

  • END THE FED!

  • I'm still mad about the first bailout. All those billions given to banks, pushed through by Hank "no accountability" Paulson and George Bush; the republicans pretended they didn't like that one either, until another $100 billion of pork was added on. Now they say they don't even know where the money went? Didn't they at least write it on a post-it or something? This is ANOTHER bailout. They're both crap. Bi-partisan crap.

  • Obama took a big jump with this. Sadly enough, it is probably going to entail if he gets assassinated or not. He's a good man with good intentions, but this is not a very good way of improving the economy. The outcome is just to blurry.

  • The economy is not a car with an empty battery, which only needs to be jumpstarted.

The whole financial system is fucked up by bankers and government.

    For their own profit.

  • END THE FED!

  • Debt with Interest is killing this country! A Stimulus package with more debt on america will only make this worse in the Future.. We will Feel good for a bit but once the Piper comes to Collect the Debt again is when we Collapse harder then Today because we owe more to the Piper.

This is Sucking Wealth from Future Generation for the Baby boomers to live even more Irresponsible as they have over the past 30 + years! Want now!, and Pay later after we DIE!

  • You are the fool.

  • Address and prove just one false assertion. Be specific and complete, so that the rest of us can understand what you mean.

  • Pick 3 and address them.

  • what were people thinking...this package also includes many things like 300 mil for "green" golf carts...Well I guess that is incentive not to have children...because there won't be anything left for them once obama and the dem's get through with our country.

  • Is it really funny that all those people who are against the president and the spending the government will do to help the country is the same people who said it was ok to give big banks a lot of money to do what they want? They have there money and dont want to help the poor but help there self.

  • Get your facts straight. These people were the first, loudest critics of the bank bailouts.

  • No they are not. The people complaining about the first stimulious plan are also complaining about this one. The difference is this one has a few more days to be seen whats in it as well as this one has far more pork spending then the first. More money is going to pet projects from representives that aren't signing their names (I.E. President Obama saying no pet projects (because they aren't named).

DO you think that Cali really needs another water park, or $30 mil to protect a marsh mouse?

  • Apparently Cali needs a maglev train from Disneyland to Las Vegas because it just got passed in the Spending- I mean, "Stimulus Package". Hmmm... could it possibly be PORK for the majority leaders, Pelosi (D-California) and Reid (D-Nevada)??? hmmmmm.......

  • Libertarians should die... I hate ads like this. BOO! Most economists aren't libertarian... sorry to disappoint.

  • thank god we still have some people giving a voice of reason.

  • Its the biggest robbery in history!

  • Government doesn't create jobs, they create work. One thing I've noticed is that he's claiming we need all this work done (and somethings do need improvement that I won't deny) but the thing is these are just temperary things. What happens after the task assigned is done.

I.E. fixing up a school hire say 50 people, 3 months pass they get paid for the work. Then its done and these men and women are back looking WORK not a job.

  • John McCain would never have put up with this crap if he was president

  • word.

  • I <3 u, CATO

  • Cato Calin?

Seriously though, what history books are they reading? It is true that something must be done, and all the things on the bill were needed, and quick.

Some know its going to fall a little short and take some time. I'm not going to even bother researching this phony balogny "institute"

  • It is not nearly true that what was on the bill was needed. In fact, the precise opposite is true.

If what you say is true, then you subscribe to the idea that you can borrow your way out of debt. I would love to see how many times you use credit cards o pay off other credit cards to pay off other credit cards, etc.

  • So you see a situation like the one Japan had and all you can see or say about it that they wasted the money, right?

Its obvious they wasted it, on public works they didn't need, we however DO need it, though we know its a small temporary fix for a few, so YES we need that part. Money for school? OF COURSE WE NEED THAT TOO. They ought to screen out libertarina economics teachers though. Deaf dumb and blind

  • Japan .. WASTED their money and lost their decade.

We do not need to borrow our way out of debt. Our schools do NOT need more money to be wasted on administration - it will get WASTED, because government is best suited to WASTING MONEY.

If you want something done poorly for twice the price, you get the government to do it.

  • I SAID they wasted it! I already know how that turned out. -can't believe how blind they were- But at the same time it wasn't enough. Those GOP assholes have wittled it down to a Japanese sized stimulus ON PURPOSE, so that there will be little effect in four years. They know what they're doing POLITICALLY. I make no apologies for greed and wastful spending, they're to be found everywhere, but this bill is a sincere and needed boost to a dead ideal. An ideal you seem to be apologizing for

  • Rough Eyelash ... you say:

" but this bill is a sincere and needed boost to a dead ideal."

I do not believe that for a minute, for a hot second. based on what I've been able to see so far, this bill is easily going down in history as the hole that sunk America's ship. It's beyond despicable, it's practically evil.

You cannot borrow your way out of debt, it has never ever ever worked before.

I know you're desperate - but this is not the way to fix anything.

  • This IS how its done. How did the Hoover method pan out?

Oh and I did mean to say the "ideal" of republicans. The greed based bullshit thats paraded around like it was the real American dream. (Character limitations and all.) was dead. Dying at least... But by the faint sounds of you people, it seems we'll never learn for long

I'm not going to argue with a pack of loony libertarians anymore, so save it.

  • TheRougeEyelash Open up your eyes and use common sense. Obama is going to put America into further debt, the majority of "new jobs" his stimulus package (should be called 'Spending Package') is going to create are government jobs. He already is starting to have our government control jobs. These government jobs will have people working for the government to pay off the debt created by this administration. Obama plans to turn America into a socialist country.

  • You really don't understand the Republican ideal. You don't understand the real conservative ideas. George Bush and his gang tarnished the brand terribly, but they were not nearly conservative.

Here's the deal: If you think the government can act as overarching parent to the citizenry, and that all they need is the right funding, then you think of yourself and your fellow citizens as adolescents who shouldn't be given the keys to the car.

I disagree. I see it the precise opposite way.

  • sommovigo. Said very well!

I think there is some warrant for a last-resort temporary safety net for certain people in really dire need. But you are right...the "govt as overarching parent" theory is doomed for failure, and will ruin the country if let grow further.

  • I have no disagreement with this statement.

  • Obama can stomp on a baby's head and they'll just start stomping on baby's heads as well, in imitation of their messiah.

  • DailyKos (or some other Obamabot hangout) must be linking to this video, because it's five stars all the way. I can't believe these idiots still have faith in their Obamessiah. People kept voting for Roosevelt too, though, even after a Depression that lasted over a decade and a World War that he promised he would keep us out of. They just loved Stalin and Hitler too, so for the hardcore Obamabots, I don't expect them to change their minds.

  • Haha hundreds of millions of chumps voted for this. Makes me laugh when I see cars with Obama bumper stickers.

  • We would be jailed as counterfitters. Liberal democrats and feel good spending got to go!

    Ron Paul 2012

  • Finally someone speaks the truth! Marketing is what I do! Americans need to stop spending! We need to stop maxing the credit cards and buying new cars every 2 years! Never mind the fact my mom who is a nurse sees the hospitals in bankrupty and her hospital closed!!!!! Closed due to charity care!!! What a mess.

  • The Party is over accept for the liberal democrats They've learned to print money, We would be jailed as counterfitters. Ron Paul 2012

  • This is only the beginning... wait till they get their hands on the "Health Care" system...there will be more than just one hospital in that status!!!

  • We are screwed, babes. Royally screwed.

  • typical msnbc, how often does the Gov't or any Gov't do anything right when they have too much power?

  • $800,000,000,000.00 - this is what $800 Billion looks like, in case you forgot.

  • The extra 0's don't do this number justice. The one that gets me is if you start paying this back at $1,000,000 per day or $365 million per year, you have to go 2000 years to get to $730 billion and you still owe $70 billion so you need about another 190 years. You haven't even paid 1 dime of interest which would double this debt amount very quickly. It is a huge amount of money to think about.

  • $10,000,000,000,000 is what our total expenditure + guarantees looks like at this point. They're going to need to start inventing new numbers soon, because at this rate, trillions just won't cut it.

  • Right on.

  • 2.3 trillion missing from dod 9-10-2001

    Research it...

  • I saw the Mayor of philly to day talking about 20 million to renovate the Philly zoo. He claimed it would create 222 jobs so it cost 90K roughly for each new employee. So my first thought is I have never gone to a zoo that didn't charge to enter and why in the hell didn't they use that money over the years to work on their infrastructure. These jobs will last for a few months maybe a year then these folks will be out again. We need to fix the economy not kick the problem down the road!

  • In his first big news conference, Obama confirmed what is in this Youtube video titled.

Smoking Gun: Democrat Insider Says "Obama Has Secret Plan to Fund a Patronage System"

Last night Obama said, "Only government can create jobs."

Now it's up to us the people to empower ourselves. Go to nostimulus(dot)com and sign the petition to scrap the stimulus package.

  • A spoils system (also known as a patronage system) is an informal practice where a political party, after winning an election, gives government jobs to its voters as a reward for working toward victory, and as an incentive to keep working for the party.

So, I'm sure this means that all the jobs created by the stimulus bill will be for blacks & foreigners. Since, that is mostly who voted for Obama.

  • Think how much money would pour into our economy if the government would start taxing religion. Property Tax, income tax, sales tax on supplies, personal property tax on cars & vans. God of all people should pay his taxes.

  • How much more can we tax? We have sales tax, property tax, income tax, etc, etc. Keep in mind that it always comes down to the bottom line. People who give to religous causes, or to other non-profit organizations for that matter, give above and beyond what they give to the government. This money has already been taxed. Taxing religion isn't a solution, the solution is to stop spending money on things we don't need.

  • caedjar4: The church giver would not be taxed again, the RECEIVER would be. Just like any other business. The money I spend in retail stores has already been taxed, no different than spending your money with a church business. TV ministries, The Mormons, Catholics take in Billions and pay nothing on their accumulated fortunes. Yes we need cut spending but the religious loop hole loses us millions and is totally unfair to every other ligit business.

  • Actually, thats not like other businesses. The church is non-profit, which are not taxed the same. The money you spend in retail stores has already been taxed, however my point remains the same: the problem is not that we tax too little, its that we tax too much and the government is allowed to constantly spend their endless supply. The other thing you should keep in mind is that most Churches take the money they get and put it back towards the community, as it is a community organization.

  • Most church organizations DO turn a profit. Joyce Meyers 92 million in book & video sales in one year! As long as her assets are owned by "The Church" she escapes the taxes. How is that fair? The Jehovah's Witness, The Mormons have assets in the Billions so obviously they turn a profit. Our infrastruture is crumbling, mean while these organizations skate free. If they paid their share our personal tax burden could be reduced.

  • caedjar4: As for the church giving to the community...If they paid their taxes it would be the greatest thing they could do for the community. Those taxes could be used to create jobs, reduce personal tax burdens. The benifit of the church to the community is minimal compared to what those tax dollars could do. YES we need to spend WISELY but this loop hole needs to be shut down. Only tax the PROFIT of course, like any other business.

  • Again, Churches don't profit. Your example of Joyce Meyers 92 million in sales should be taxed if that 92 million goes to her; however, as you stated, it goes to the Church. The Church doesn't own that money, it cycles it back into the community through its events. Churches that hoard money are no longer NPOs and should be sued for violating the law. The difference is when the money goes to the oragnization or the individual. Government doesn't do any better job of spending our money.

  • The bigger problem in my opinion is that we've let Government continually get bigger in a time when it should be cleaned out. We seem to think that spending more money will generate more money, but how worthless is it to count adding jobs to our economy that last a couple months? Those people will be unemployed again almost immediately. The government should stay in the areas it belongs, and stop trying to control the private sector, which is where it wastes most of its resources these days.

  • caedjar: Oh come on. A church needs a 10,000 sq ft multi million dollar home? It is a loop hole. It's a way to have everthing they want in life, but not pay for it. Very little is spent on the publics benefit. Their braiwashed zombies barely make ends meet. They couldn't AQUIRE these things if their was not a profit coming in. If the church owns Joyces home the church should pay the taxes. WHOEVER owns it, pays the fair taxes on it. There would be fewer preachers living in million dollar homes.

  • Thats my point Caedjar. All the benefits DO go to Joyce including her multi million dollar 10,000 sq foot home. Claiming it is the churches is really a fraud that needs to be ended through new laws.

  • Although I support our President...any proud American should, it's logical reasoning such as this that worries me, how can he not see this?
