  • The Vels were my all time favorite band from phila. i was on South st in Philly at an acrade playing video games. They had WMMR on the radio and play a live concert from Ripleys with the Vels So i just stop playing and had down the street and was hooked.

  • My first club experience was at the Palladium in NYC in 1984, I was a freshman in college, and I had spiked hair and tons of black washer bracelets! I wore blue eyeliner and fingerless gloves! I used to love to work the dance floor in my white capezio shoes and my baggy electric blue parachute pants! I loved to dance to this, and Sidewalk Talk by Jellybean Benitez...

  • Wow! This brings back some great Phila memories of walking down south street and buying records at record exchange then going to Jim's steaks for a bite then hitting the Revival.

  • Stargaze in Fremont CA

  • I spun records in nightclubs & after-hours clubs in the Harrisburg & Philadelphia areas during the 80s and this was one of my absolute favorites . . . not just because like The Vels, I too was from Philly, but because this was the one 12" single that was stolen repeatedly from my booth. I took it as a compliment and re-ordered it at least 3 times that I recall. I so wish The Vels would have been given more air-time. Their talent was without question! Thanks for adding it! . . . Awesome memories!

  • this was always my favorite song off the album. i lost my vinyl collection (storm) and don't have it anymore . weird it's not on itunes or anywhere! ;-(

  • I had the good fortune of playing with Charlie and Alice for a brief time in the late 1980's. I always had sought out the brightest artists and worked hard to get with them. It was a sobering experience to see how the industry doesn't necessarily support the most brilliant artists. It doesn't diminish the genius of Alice Cohen and Charles Hanson, the essential Vels. Me? Jaded.

  • I realize this was before you were with them, so no offense, but I'd like to mention the musical genius of original Vels member Chris Larkin, who passed away last November. Chris was an amazing musician and songwriter, and the Vels just weren't the same without him. You can hear him playing keyboards on this track as well as singing & playing keyboards on the video of "Look My Way."

  • I'm sorry to hear about Chris's passing. Yeah, I'm the perpetual "Johnny come Lately." Though I didn't know him, I'm not surprised that someone like him, as talented as you describe, was associated with Charlie and Alice. Thanks for the background.

  • They were from Philly, and it was great to see them live!

  • VERY fond memories of these guys from the 80's...their album "VELOCITY" was a slice of synth/pop genius...they we're out of Philly i think

  • When I was 14, the first "club" I ever went to was playing this when I walked in. It was dark in there, smoky, packed with people, and too cool. I was hooked. I went dancing almost every weekend after that til I graduated from high school. Ah,... to be 14 in 1984 at "The Vortex" in Sacramento. Too Funny.

  • I remember going to "The Vortex" in Sacramento . I remember it being above a trucking company. Went there a few times as well as Faces and Bojangles. Sacramento daze... long gone!

  • oh...my god. I was there as well, every Friday without fail. Those were the days. Do you remember the tussles the punks would always have with the truckers?
