Reminds me of back when I was a kid on Friday nights. Nightmare Theatre was on channel 4 so we always had to adjust the rabbit ears on the TV to get the picture in better(pre-cable days). Seemed the commercials back then were always for Calico furniture or Bob "Nobody" Catterson Buick.
Sammy was always the best. He didn't just play it for yuks; he was actually really pretty scary sometimes. Growing up in the 70's I never missed his show. He played all those old Universal horror films and great stuff like 'It! The Terror from Beyond Space' and 'Night of the Demon.' I actually wish someone would compile an episode list of all the movies he played over the years. Always the best.
Exactly as I remember him from when I was a little kid, scared the hell out of me...and I loved every minute of it! Sammy got me hooked on Horror! Was like 5 when I would beg to stay up with my step dad and watch him.
The first time I saw Sammy Terry "Frankenstein Meets The Wolfman" was one of the double feature; why I still remember this I don't know. It was a lot better then than it is now, but I still love to watch it.
This is great to see. People today rely too much on cgi and have no attention span for things like this. What a shame. There was a guy out of Ft Wayne on channel 55 that had something just like this. What was his show called?
@feratomix69 This show ran from 1962-1989 on wttv channel 4 bloomington/indianapolis station. His son just started doing it again first show was last sat. at midnight of course!
OMG!!!! Thank you so much for this. Back In the 1970's every Friday night we would watch Sammy Terry and my little brother and I would be so scared. LOL! This brought back so many great memories.
The magic of being a child in a traditional conservative/Christian society and being up late whilst watching Sammy Terry can never be had again. Nostalgia is all we are left with in our diversified, materialistic, and overtly decadent modern world. The evils of socio-political mind control, processed foods, rampant commercialism, & consolidated power, have destroyed the esteem and ruggedness of homogeneous communities. Our industriousness gone; we look to things destructive for fulfillment.
I'm a teenager now, and I've just heard of this guy last week. My mom says he was really scary, but after watching this, I just don't get it. It's more wierd than scary. Am I missing something???
@SaylahRossman Yes you are... the 80s haha. For one, special effects in movies were NOTHING like they are today. So to you this looks cheap, to us back then it scared the shit out of us. Now granted, I don't find him scary now, but when I was 7 or 8 years old I would be so creeped out for the rest of the night that I could NOT be alone in a dark room for the rest of the night.
i was going to meet him here in seymour indiana, but the meet and great was canceled because he had a heart attack and stroke, he's in a nursing home now :(
When I was just a kid in the '60's, Two or three of my cousins would spend the night together and watch Sammy Terry, with the lights off, of course! We'd each lie and deny being scared, but that chilling laugh of his would send shivers up and down our spines. We loved him of course. Nothing today like 'ol Sammy!!!
His laugh had me absolutely spooked when I was little. I had to cover my head with a blanket and everything. Thanks for posting this! It brings back a lot of memories.
I grew up on this show!!! Every Friday night at 11:30.
I would try to stay up to watch the entire show. Sometimes he'd do a triple feature but usually I would make it through the first one, only to doze of shortly after the second. Later, I would manage to stay up to watch Six-Million-Dollar Man reruns just before they start playing the "off the air" rainbow screen.
wow i hear sammy terry voice it brings back memories when i was a little kid. scared covering up my head....dang they need to bring him back on...lots of memories !!!!

Man, talk about memories! Every Friday night me and my brothers would pop a big bowl of popcorn and sit around watching scary movies (well, scary by the standards of the day) all night. Good times!
OMG! I remember watching this, as well! In fact, I wrote to her and included a school picture. Weeks later she showed my picture while on the air!!!! My brother still makes fun of me because I had fallen asleep and missed the whole thing!! LOL
I remember he came to our local skating rink when I was a little kid and did an autograph signing. When it was over, I sneaked into the front office where I found him alone and kicked back in a chair smoking a cigarette and I said "I'm not afraid of you" Sammy just raised up real slow out of the chair and started that creepy laugh while walking towards me, I realized it was just me and Sammy and it scared the shit out of me...and I ran out of there...lol
@myway43 I remember her!! In fact, I had written her and included one of my school pictures - she showed the photo and read my letter on air! My brother still laughs at me because I had fallen asleep during her show and missed it all!!! Would love to see a video of her! (Lived in Elkhart, at that time)

This was the best.....It's too bad they dont do shows like this anymore......I remember being 10 and 11 years old, and the family getting together to watch sammy.....this is truely some of my fondest childhood memories.....lol.....I love this stuff
I watched Sammy on my local Channel 4 station Fridays and Saturdays in my formative years. I even remember catching some bloopers from his show on Bloopers&Practical jokes some years back.

imagine what conversations would be like when this guy came home from work..."Hi honey, what did you do at work today."..."Well, honey I creeped out little kids on television.".
Sammy Terry used to scare the crap out of me back in the 70s--more than the movies sometimes! His acting was impeccable. When someone can make you believe they are actually the character they are portraying... Thanks for all the frights ST. You were the best!

I also like how he's ID'ed as Samuel Terry and has even been given a title... "Ghoul."
Excellent. He really brought the goods. Unlike most regional horror hosts he was actually scary when he wanted to be. The highlight of my week when I was a kid was hearing that intro start up on channel 4.

Then I'd NEVER, EVER hang my feets over the edge. Cause I'm tellin you there WAS SOMETHING under there.....Mommmeeee!!!
