  • /watch?v=ELmUEpvT8ps

  • I'd like to talk

    No you can not!

  • I am from Portland, Oregon ... and I have seen this particular jingle since circa 1986, but I believe such commercials of this vintage only aired here then, because of the availability of WGN 9 Chicago, which is just as well-known as the Empire jingle. I don't so much go for the current version of the jingle, which starts off with three extra notes (for "800") before the original "588-2300 ... Em-pire!" comes in, and with "Today" added in because of the company's current name.

  • dis guys more famous than santa clause in Chicago.

  • classic

  • That old man ripped me off!!

  • this is oldschool heh! we get these commercials here in colorado now. are they nationwide now?

  • I wish they still sold gutters and siding.

  • Eight hundred five eight eight, two three hundred, EMPIRE!!

    Love that jingle.

  • DARTH CARPET

  • 0:30 No Al! you don't get to talk!

  • OMG AL PIMONTE FORD WHEN HE WAS YOUNG

  • I remember these commercials, me and my brother went around singing the jingle alot when we were kids.

  • bless his heart. =D

  • Or carpeting and dildos

  • Haha if your from Chicago you know this, but now I know Luna carpets commercial, Tile outlet "24-44 west fullerton in chicago just 3 blocks west of the kennedy expressway." Eagleman, Moo and Oink, what else?

Conan O'brien said this at his Chicago show.

  • @mandrews41 lol o u mean 773202LUNA?

  • This guy is the Dick Clark of carpet salesmen.

  • The same guy does the commercials today!

  • I think this Empire guy is immortal.

  • Hi, I'm attorney Peter Francis Geraci.

  • yo empire commerical have been running all my life it seems, im from Delaware!!! didnt know u guys in chicago know about the theme song, thats funny!

  • @302RELL Haha i have relatives on the east coast apparently empire is only in new england and midwest

  • @mikeromor my girl actually works at the empire here in seattle same phone number 2

  • @mikeromor - not true, we have Empire here in Florida

  • @VenusSatanas they also have a bunch of stores in Michigan.

  • @302RELL -- Empire is a Chicago company and these commercials have been running here since the 70s. (Yes, I'm old enough to remember back that far -- sigh.) We've have had this jingle drilled into our heads for 30+ years. It's literally part of our local lore and a vivid "Gen-X" childhood memory. Notice there's no "800" in the number because they hadn't gone national yet. You could dial just the 7 numbers from anywhere in the Chicago area because back then the whole metro only had one area code.

  • This is the ultimate way to tell if someone is from the Chicagoland area... Just ask them to sing the song.

  • God I love his voice!!! Miss Mr. Empire!!!! So part of my childhood memories!!!

  • Rock a bye a baby! Hi, I'm Harry Schmiler, your singing Ford dealer!

    on GRAND avenue!

  • Al Piemonte Ford! OMG!

  • "I'd like to talk ab-"

    o.o

  • we sell nothing but carpets

  • I was born in Chicago in 1981, moved to Tampa in 1990 and have been here ever since. I still remember this commercial and Bozo the clown!

I will never forget the golden years of my childhood, little things like this help me remember.

BTW, they have empire carpet commercials here in tampa now for the last few years as well. When I first heard the commercial on tv I about fell out of my chair lol!

  • Last time I was in NY visiting family there. the Empire Today commercials just started there. And I was like whoa did I go back to Chicago already?

  • he sounds so wasted these days

  • Love to see Al Piemonte appear at the end. Classic Chicago.

  • Wait what? I live in virginia beach and this guy has his commercials here.

  • its national durrr

  • That dude was old back in '86. Now he's just a CGI model. Age has not been kind.

  • Well first I watched Eagle Man, then this...on to good ole Peter Francis Geraci...good times.

  • I like the Al Piemonte snippet at end! He looks so young! Chicago commercials never change (See Victory Auto Wreckers )

  • Shit, this guys voice could sell me anything!

  • Wow ,have they been around a long time.

  • Notice there is no "800" in front of the phone number.

  • i remeber this comercial it was boring

  • God I remember that commercial. Must of seen it on average of twice a day as a kid.

  • I guess that's today's Empire Today.

  • You know you are from Chicago when you know the Empire Carpet phone number before you know your home number....lol

  • Exactly I remeber this commercial and the friggin Regina, Steamer, Carpet Cleaner commercial use to come on like 3 times a day each.Growing up in Chicago in the 80's was the best time whomever didn't missed out on the best era.lol.

  • i am 27 i grew up in 90's chicago...what side are you from....south side (vincennes here) i am in the service now...i dont live there no more but i do remember empire commercial use to come on along with eagle auto insurance during jerry springer commercial breaks lol

  • @BigWen130 I'm 34 years old, haven't lived in Chicago for 13 years and I still remember this number! LOL Guess it was a successful commercial!

  • @BigWen130 i live in ontario i know it off by heart

  • @BigWen130 LOL I'm from Chicago too! I remember these old ads when I was just little. Ah, brings back memories.

  • i'd like to talk

  • I like the tune! 588-2300 Empiiire!

  • which is why the company is so successful

  • What happened to that guy?

  • He is still alive, and doing the voice-overs for the new commercials.

  • Ummm...today Empire installs carpet, SIDING, and WINDOW TREATMENTS...

  • I like the magical flying carpet better than the one with bald guys installing carpet...

  • "Show us Al!" "Show us Al" Getting back to this video, the singers sound happier on this old version.

  • Well Well Well Isint this the pot calling the kettle black?
