Whoops, yep Robotech was actually released on video here in the UK. However only a couple of videos were released and I doubt they got much airplay here, though I can't be certain. However I noticed that we even had Robotech II: The Sentinels released on video here in the UK, and later on DVD, though now out of print obviously. :D
@anthonywastrinh Yes well, too bad - Robotech wasn't released on Beta (aside from MAYBE a handful of episodes). And while Beta was marginally better than VHS, it wasn't even close to the quality of Laserdisc.
whoa, the opening theme song sound like the green ranger's flute from power rangers....does anyone agree with me? also the opening kinds reminds me of Top Gun
They should have been able to fit all six episodes on to a VHS tape unedited. I remember you used to be able to get 3->5 hr tapes back in the day.
You know, the Star Trek tapes were released 2 episodes at a time as well. Although those shows were 1hr long.
I didn't mind the second generation story but I just didn't like the art style they used. I'm with you, my favorite is 1 closely followed by 3 but I don't hate 2.
I was very happy when they used that opening in Robotech: Battlecry for the PS2. Coincidentally, the gameplay of Battlecry was vastly superior to Gundam: Journey to Jaburo, which I'd bought only about a half year earlier.
Hehehe, no worries. The YouTube "Comment Posting Time Warp" can do that. You post a comment, it doesn't show up right away, so you post it again because you're not sure the first one got through or not... Happens to me all the time.
The VHS section of the video was REALLY confusing! I wonder how many hours of tape were dedicated to Robotec. Must have been one helluva lot. Cool video. Looking forward to seeing the third part.
Hehehe...I would answer, but I see by your comment on the other video you already found the answer. :) But for the benefit of others:
Robotech is an epic science fiction saga that spans three generations of characters, each generation taking place roughly 20 years apart from each other.
and i was on holiday on an island in the meditarrienian(i dont kno how 2 spell that word)i was in cyprus in larnaca and it was very humid and hot there and i did not like there at all and they did hav any interesting dvds there.but there was a dvd set i wanted 2 buy but i couldnt buy!!! and i watched weird movie on the plane i watched the sun rise and slept for like an hour.how were u?
Didn't I just answer that? It's NOT the same thing - just because a particular series has had several volumes released, it's not the same as having several completely separate releases, each containing several volumes and essentially re-releasing the SAME content over and over again.
Beavis and Butthead has had a handful of releases in comparison. As I said, ONE series of VHS tapes, ONE Laserdisc of the show and one of the movie, and ONE set of DVDs. Again, not even close to the same thing.
Robotech has had no less than SIX completely separate VHS releases of the show, each contianing several volumes, a Laserdisc release of the first 2 generations and the Sentinels, and 7 DVD releases (which I'll be covering next time). Not to mention two releases of the original Macross Japanese series on DVD, and one each for Southern Cross and Mospeada. These are all releases, in different forms, of the exact same episodes of the show. No other show comes CLOSE to that total # of releases.
Nowhere NEAR as many different releases, though. One series of VHS tapes, two laserdiscs (including the movie), and the Mike Judge Collection on DVD. Not even close!

Exactly! The complete, uncut 6 episodes would have run about 140 minutes, so there was really no reason to chop them up like they did.
I agree about the generations - I don't hate 2nd generation either, I like 'em all. But it's definitely the weakest overall of the three.
Zaranyzerak 2 years ago
The 2nd Generation was my least favourite two. Maybe because it had the unenviable job of combining Macross was Mospeda.

The funny thing is, I think I actually MISSED a couple of releases in there. But those were the most well known ones...

Well also if you look at Beavis and Butthead it also has had quite a few rereleases on VHS and DVD.

They even tried to put it out on CD-ROM. GameTek Cinema got only the first episode out before dropping the idea.
