  • why is this not called the boat that rocked in america?

  • @danlyboobs

Because it bombed in over here so they changed the title and also cut 20 mins for the american release...and guess what....you can;t shine a turd so it bombed again. took well under 10 million worldwide from a 30 million plus budget/

  • The american trailer is shit compares to the original

  • probably one of my favorite movies...also has a mindblowing soundtrack

  • the true story is cooler, they weren't on a boat but at the abandoned Maunsell Sea Forts on the open sea where no country has jurisdiction. Because of that, they had assault rifles and bazookas to defend themselves.

  • Yes!!!

I believe I will love it!

  • any one know the song at the end?

  • Does anyone know the name of that song when carl runs to his dad when the ship is sinking n all the water comes rushing into his room???

  • neither of those...when it says "a band of renegades" what is the track in the background?

  • @mcnuggetking23 I'm Shipping Up To Boston by Dropkick Murphys. they play it in The Departed as well. :)

  • It is to me a great mystery why this American trailer pretends it's about Philip Seymour Hoffman as the Count. He's great, but the movie's main character is still Carl - and the film is about him and the other character on the boat too.

And the sentence "He's possibly the most famous broadcaster ever" - he's talking about Gavin Cavanagh! The trailer makes you believe it's the Count.

And one more thing: Why change the name? "The boat that rocked" is a far better title.

  • yea i thought it was the tttled the boat that rocked, oh well. pirate radio sounds okay

  • What is the song from 20-40 second (it is the background tune?

  • @nedjerris I'm Shipping Up To Boston by Dropkick Murphys. they play it in The Departed as well. :)

  • This trailer implies that The Count is the protagonist of this movie, which is wrong of course

No worries tough, it still is a genius movie

  • what the hell, 8 spams in a row?

also: looks good. even if 1:41 ...

  • whats thee name of the song at 0:28?

  • wat is the first song?

  • do you mean the opening tune which is Gimme Some Lovin by The Spencer Davis Group , or the first track which is All Day and All of the Night by The Kinks.

  • Did he say Bill Nye?

  • this is going to be the best movie ever. im siked.

  • RockNRoll will live forever.

  • I smell Oscar

  • @zombiemonster

smell oscar rofl. The trailer is actually better than the film. Richard Curtis films have always been naff, he's a one trick pony and his main idea of hilarity is upper class or bourgeois British guys saying 'arse' or 'feck' over and over again very quickly. I am so glad this bombed, maybe people finally got wise to how contrived his films are not to mention utterly sickly. only good thing = not as bad as Notting Hill, but then - what is?

  • @jaredneedsalife however this was before I saw the movie. And when I saw It I was really pissed off. I thought it was going to be a true story, in which, Philip Seymore Hoffman would portray the bold and daring Count of the airwaves. However, it turned into a shamble and an unorganized story with little to no relevance to history of pirate radio, nor the importance they played in the golden era of rock n' roll.

  • @zombiemonster I know what you mean. Hoffman is usually a sign of a quality film. The story certainly had potential. Just not in the hands of Curtis.

  • This is so awesome. But quick question, this is a movie correct? Did this actually happen?

  • Yo yep.

  • It says "The Untold Story" but I doubt it ever happened. If the British government banned rock from the radio in 1967 someone would have noticed....

  • apparently they restricted rock for only an hour a day, which pretty much is banning...

im surprised people doubt this really happened, while so many got fooled that paranormal activity was REAL. lol

i watched 10 minutes of that online, and it depressed me that its done so well.

  • its based on pirate radio ships in british waters in the 60,s. the most famous of which was Radio Caroline. in Britain the film is called The Boat That Rocked. (see trailers).

  • I will be seeing this movie. So many things to like about it (Nick Frost, Bill Nighy, Jack Davenport, Kenneth Brannagh, and it's from Focus Features). Like woah.

  • dont be like cartman asshole and no its not

  • Awesome!

  • whats the song around 0:27

  • they got sick ass movies this month fuck october's movies

  • wat is the 2nd song thts kinda like a violin

  • looks funny

  • "We got the wrong, damn boat." lul

  • Ok this is 'THE BOAT THAT ROCKED'

I watchd this months ago n it changed my opinion of old school rock n roll! It was amazing!

  • ya classic rock does kick ass=]

  • classic rock 4 eva!!!!!!

  • I watched it. I was dissapointed... great music thought

  • care to explain asshat

  • PIR8 LOVE!! Crank up the RF fellow friends.

  • I grew up with Radio Caroline and Radio London - they hold a special place in my heart and my history. Wonderful music round the clock, and the Kenny and Cash Show. Bliss... and now a film about it by Richard Curtis of Blackadder fame, well, I have to see this!

  • So saving Britain and the whole free world during WWII doesn't count? And what about SPAM? And then there's all kinds of cartoons for the museum of the moving picture beneath London Bridge - Daffy, Bugs, and the whole gang. Not to mention the music which flows across the Atlantic, and the International courts, which helps us all..

  • 0.28 whats the name of this song?! i cant find it anywhere.

  • looks cool

  • electricladyland at 1:02

  • o yeah...gotta see this one...

  • Kickass soundtrack.

  • A good movie. I saw it when it was called The Boat that Rocked. Based on events in England but not really a "true story".

  • LOL! 0:16 if someone in the government liked weed it should be legal then.

  • damn 1:30 holy shit

  • now the name is pirate radio ? it was the boat that rocked, why they changed it ?

  • i guess the original movie had some copyright disputes

  • i saw this in april.

    IT WAS AAAAAMAZING.

go see it in the usa, seriously.

  • I hate how this trailer makes philip seymour hoffman look like the main charecter to appeal to the american audience , when he blatently isnt

  • this movie was so funny, y'all gotta see it

such a great cast, story, and script, there was no movie greater about rebelious rock and roll

  • Actually, British actors generally are more my favorites because they go more into shakespeare before hitting hollywood. Then they just up the industry's performance from the negative ratings. Ian MacKellen (sp?), Judi Dench, Pierce Brosnan, Sean Connery? Chyeah.

  • Ian Mckellen

  • not Ian Mckellen. Thats Bill Nighy.

  • i was spelling correct the name, for enderschoice

  • oh sorry. my fault

  • no problem

  • Oh, thanks. :P They had a year of Shakespeare in London once with him and all these other British actors I liked. Pity I wasn't able to go.

  • this is out on dvd in europe

  • This trailer makes it as if the film focusses completely on Hoffman's character, god, that's just wrong. The original trailer's much better. The film is great.

  • this is the same footage from the boat that rocked.. isnt it?

  • this trailer was horrible

the original is so much better

watch THE BOAT THAT ROCKED trailer

    (the uk version)

  • Check out the official Facebook page for the film! Become a fan and stay up to date with what's going on at facebook [dot] com/PirateRadioMovie

  • They even change the plot in this trailer to make it look like the one American started it. That's shit.

  • So true

  • If you're in the US and want to actually know what the film is like you're better off watching the UK trailers with the original title "The Boat That Rocked"

  • Hey Whats the first song In the Trailer

  • Ok, seriously? Why the hell did they change the title for the American market? The boat that rocked is a great title!

And besides this gives a completely wrong impression of the story. Without compare the shittiest trailer I've seen for such a good movie

  • what the fuck?

this trailer COMPLETLY fucks the story.

hoffman is NOT the main character

  • Such a good film, it'll be great for America to finally get it! :D (This trailer makes the story look completely different from what it actually is, though, I have to admit! ;^^)

  • Not sure why this movie was delayed for the U.S. - this would have been a great summer movie.

  • This looks awesome!

  • The Boat That Rocked?

    Seen this ages ago!

It's only alright. Good music though. (Y)

  • Lucky! haha

  • 1st view!

I seen this on...HDNet Preview Show? It might have just been a teaser then, but anyway, I've wanted to see this for a long time.
