  • Where can I get this version of the song?

  • Comment removed

  • It's on the Ryko compilation "Hardcore Devo Vol. 1". Released in 1990.

  • Climbs the stais so fast haha

  • Are we not men ? we are Devo...

  • totally awesome

  • Judging by a number of comments here, I think Devo's theory is correct. :P

  • Most of today's lil punks don't realize how ahead of their time Devo was (is).

  • One of the earliest from one of the best...

Can't believe some of the negative comments around here... twits.

  • Devo were a high concept band reloving around the idea that humans are devloving because of our relienece on mass marketing and media to tell us what to do.

  • great song!!!!

  • It's a little known fact, but 'Doctor Steelhammer' is actually an anagram for 'I am the poster boy for murderers rights'

  • Doctorsteelhammer is Wladimir Klitschko you stupid piece of shit.

  • If your gonna pick on Devo at least thing of something a bit more creative. Jocko Homosexual.

BTW : Don't thumbs down me, I like Devo

  • wow, that is some freaky shit, I love it!!!!

  • That is some of the kookiest shit I have seen in a long time. I LOVE IT!!!!

  • General Boy reminds me abit of David Lynch

  • i bet bill nye the science guy was a big fan.

  • DEVO ROCKS!!! FOREVER

  • then fuck off you pinky wafer

  • ! pu tuhs

  • i know you are, but what is devo? (we must repeat)

  • youve disabled embedding, why?

    not linking to this

  • ihad the picture disk of the album

  • Have you guys seen Mark Mothersbaugh on Yo Gabba Gabba?

Match made in heaven if you ask me, because the co-writer/creator is the vocalist from the Aquabats. For those of who may not be familiar with the work of the Aquabats, just think 90's ska version of Devo.

  • Actually the first thing that comes to mind when I think of a 90's version of Devo is Nine Inch Nails

  • totally awesome

  • classic.

  • It's great watching Devo videos and seeing the influence for Weird Al's "Dare to Be Stupid."

  • Classic DEVO.....

  • This is he best video i have ever seen. And the music is also awsome.

  • Think what you want about it. The fact is this is one of the first music videos made - well prior to 1980 I believe. Suffice it to say DEVO (Mark Mothersbaugh in particular) were ahead of their time in using "technology". Were they popular? Not necessarily. Were they innovative? Most definitely.

If you don't like Jocko Homo, check out Beautiful World - arguably their best video production.

Try and keep an open mind - or at least choose your words a little more "creatively"...

  • Not true. Music videos have been made since, at least, the 60s (check The Who, Happy Jack, for example).

But true, DEVO was ahead of the times in many ways.

  • Wow, you really like the word "faggot", don't you? That says something about you.

  • I noticed the justice sample. This song freaks me out...

  • Still brilliant!!!!

  • i love the little "dance" the singer does!

  • Proof that drugs were alive and well in the 70's

  • yup we're devolved, Korn made the same statement for the vid for the song Evolution but with a 1/2 as good song and a twice as good video

  • the first dude to come out running is freaky

  • These guys need to be in the Rock.. Hall of Fame.

  • "Oh Dad, We're All Devo!"

  • loveitiloveitiloveit

  • the boojjii boi rides again!

  • i saw these guys in a concert at the Palladium in NYC in 1979, when concert tickets still cost about 12 bucks! They were selling those yellow Devo overalls in the lobby but I was just a teenager and couldn't afford it. It was a cool show and their first album was great, their later stuff not as good. I hadn't seen this video in almost 30 years.

  • totally awesome

  • Haha - "have you got the papers the chinaman gave you?"

  • yeah how ahead of the time where they?

  • fucking LOVE IT!

  • sounds like stressed out dolphins getting slapped with mackrel

    dolphins are mad stressed....

  • DUTY NOW FOR THE FUTURE!!!!

  • If you believe in devolution you must be stupid. Do you think God made adam and steve? ha. ha. Just be a pink like me and everything will be fine.

  • The guy who wrote a book about devolution sued the group for stealing the idea, and won the case, the jury obviously beleived in devolution.

  • You just proved devolution.

  • these guys rule live, saw them at lollapalooza a few years back

  • Q: Are we not men?

  • A: We are DEVO

  • Hooray! What a genius piece of music!

  • totally awesome

  • justice uses the beginning in there song stress. I'm a littlebith disapointed. I really like justice and now i discovered they just got it from these guys.

  • Well yeah, it was an excellent sampling job that completely added to the song and gave it an even more dramatic and nervous tone. Justice's choice to sample this was amazing.

  • I love these guys, they are amazing!!!!! Absolutely fabulous!

  • Is devolution winning or losing?

  • def losing, ftw

  • Fantastic! I love it! I realy love all of Devos early videos, like this one, because they were more like these weird underground musical short movies than conventional music vids. These guys were amazingly original and creative!

  • I agree.......it underground feel used to kinda scare me a bit. I was born in 77.

  • Wow.. I just remembered something from the Blur that was the early 80's. They Rocked

  • Yes. DEVO albums are just so populist.

    Fucking idiot.

  • BOOGIE BOY!!!!!

  • social commentary at its finest

  • Legends!!

  • creepy awesome

  • This is the music of the future!

  • That little dance he does is awesome.

  • haha yeah, i love it

  • There's one in every school. I was that one as well.

  • STILL a million years ahead of their time.

  • Because this is how we are going to look for a million years.

  • totally awesome

  • Justice has a sample of this in their song, Stress

  • General boy and Boojie Boy made an appearance in The Venture Bros. on adult Swim

  • yea dude im probably the only person in my school who likes devo too man

  • this is serious. I don't know if I have to laugh or cry.

  • I'm probably the only freshmen in my high school (or even my city) that's crazy obsessed with Devo. Lol. I love this video. It's one of Devo's best. I prefer this version of the song over the album version.

  • Oh, dad-- we're ALL devo!

  • One of the best bands ever.

  • Devo is in my opinion the best new wave band ever. I saw them in 1978 at the campus center ballroom in Hawaii and it was so great. Some bands are just so unique that there is no competition. Except for Styx Mr. Roboto of course (I keed! I keed!)

  • I'M SCARED!

  • totally awesome

  • I like the live version so much better

  • Q: Are We Not Men?

  • A : We Are DEVO

  • D-E-V-O

  • All Original no copy cats here.

  • The result of devolution - corporate lackeys.

  • Q: Are We Not Men?

  • A: We Are Devo!

  • Q: Are We Not Men? D-E-V-O

  • lol

  • Their early music and videos were downright SCARY.

  • hell yea

  • Always loved Devo, i seen them in sweden 1989 :)

  • random

  • I think that Devo, along with The B'52s made

what I think should be called Science Fiction

    music instead of New Wave

  • I disagree with you. The first true Sci-Fi music style came with famous German group KRAFTWERK. And B-52 wh,ch I like a lot, are far from being all synthetic at all!

  • There was also Bowie, Tangerine Dream, Frank Zapa and The Residents. The B-52's had kinda a neo 60's kitsch thing goin with them.

  • And Kraftwerk and Devo are also considered the early roots of Techno. The real, true, Detroit sound, not the stuff that gets called "techno" today.

  • I will add Donna Summer - ''I Feel Love''.

  • The day is here we are near yesterday is in the rear token apprecian for the past the future will never last a broken arm needs a cast I keep a sandwich in my back pocket I never eat it But make a new one everday I throw out the one I made the previous day The window is fogged don't let your mind get bogged down
  • What is this from? It intrigues me for some odd reason.

  • Thanks. My own stream of consiousness

  • In this one, Mark reminds me of Groucho Marx...on acid....pretending to be a marionette puppet.

  • totally awesome.

  • Genius.

  • BOGGIE BOY FOR PRESIDENT!

  • does anybody know if there's a name to that electronic clatter at the beginning?

  • lol so fucked up :P

  • haha!!!

thats james belushi, paul shaeffer and dan akroyd

wit panty hose on they heads!!!

    kkakakakakakaakkaakakakakakak!!!

  • What the hell are you talking about?! That's Jerry, Bob2 and Bob1.

  • We are de-evolving. It's apparent in so many aespects of everyday life. I think it's nature's way of keeping humans from destroying the planet and itself.

  • It's all true. Dopes walk away with earbuds stuck in their heads, ignoring cars, teachers, reality. We have really de-evolved.
