@landi2211 the garuda business class is average, more like singapore airline's economy class.anyway who trusts garuda more than singapore airlines?indonesia has a lousy track record in planes bus trains ferries,i rather pay 3k more to get an singapore airlines economy seat than garuda's business class.
@Donbass777 Airbus is a european manufacturer. Therefore many countries are involved. The A380 is assembled in Toulouse, France, then painted in Germany. Makes sense?
@normanmj Well, robots simply don't have the "eye" that is needed to do a lot of the preperation. Thats what painting is 90% all about... prepare the plane for painting, putting the decals on, cleaning the surfaces and such. The painting itself really is just about 10% of the job as you can see in the video.
Once every decal and strips of ductapes are in place, you just spray and pray. :)
I still think it's too large... Not very many airports can accomodate this huge bird. I think the timing was bad to set it free, so to speak, in these times. 10 years ago would have been perfect.
My bet is on the 787... Just my oppinion though. 380 is still nice though
Some people really make me laugh on youtube, talking how bad the landings are. ha ha ha ha. These guys are pros. I'd like to see you seating on the left seat of an A380 5 miles from final. You'd probably do in your pants crying mummy. The day you become a test pilot for Airbus then maybe, just maybe you can have a say about how bad a landing is.
Not to mention it's a extreme wing efficient plane with landed with a joystick! I'm a fan of airbus and that landing wasn't bad at all considering it's so new the landing was great!
@sonicfan7 I dont love the joystick but its an ugly plane great idea thought out by airbus but in two years all the a380's will not have all the nice classes it will probably have 3 or 4 nothing like its 5 or 6
Its a test landing they do it purposely to see if the landing gear will be strong enough to actually withstand a bounce or two before they put passengers on and find out if it actually can
Airbus is a multi-national corporation, You can tell that major manufacturing plants are disperse among thee nations because for political reasons. Germany- most assembly facility and delivery.
France- headquarters, main assembly and delivery point as well as service.
UK -some parts assembly. (not sure)
USA - wing design center (since 2007 I believe)
***Concorde was one of the first airplanes to be made like this. but I can't remember what countries. (UK,FRANCE for sure)
For Airbus, the design office is mainly in France and Germany, with significative tasks in UK and Spain. The manufacturing is in those four countries. Wings in UK, fuselage in Germany and France, HTP in Spain. (VTP?). Assembly is in France (A320, A330/340, A380) and in Germany (A32x) (and in China for a few A320). Some cabin furnishing work is also made in Germany (A320 and A380)
parts (like landing gears or engines) can be made outside those four states.
VTP is made in Germany. The whole tail cone is made of monolithic CFRP built in Spain. Landing gear is from Messier Dowty (SAFRAN Group)and Goodrich Corporation.
emirates is first 2 order the a380. Singapore airlines payed more money 2 get the first 1. I cant wait 2 see & go in the emirates a380. I've seen the exterior of this plane in real life
the airbus have to fly after the painting becuase te painting need to dry and for that thaey fly it and the tem is cool just a way for them to send the airbus to singapore and the painting to dry
Y3 won't happen before 2020. Why? Because the 787 has so many orders that they will need time until 2017 to produce all planes and develop the derivate named 787-10. On the other side Boeing will be forced to develop Y1 or enhance the 737 if they want remain competitive against the upgraded GTF powered A320.Also the 777 is under attack by the A350-900/1000 so forget any A380 competitor. Not to forget the A380-900 strech which will be build after 2015 and will be a wordbeater in fuelefficiency.

Surprised they haven't gone to robotic painting yet. A lot of man hours and paint exposure being spent per airplane.
