omg jud is kinda like this guy at my school. hes really perverted and hes sorta scary. like i wuld never let myself be alone with him. and he kinda looks like him.
@Lovinspoonsandtogas Do you actually know this kid or are you just placing prejudice upon him based upon what other kids have said. You have to realize that the Jud from Oklahoma is only this way because everyone treats him like dirt and that is all he has known all his life. Jud from Oklahoma might not have become the man he did or met the end he did had someone shown him so actual care early in his life. This guy from your school probably just needs a friend.
"Jud" is amazing. He's disturbed, disturbing, and yet pitiful. Just what he ought to be. I feel both sorry for him and rattled by him. The conflict, dissonance, it should be there. He may be misunderstood and treated unkindly, but he's genuinely dangerous too.
Anyone got the mp3 for the whole songs for Out of My Dreams, Lonely Room, and I Cain't Say No from this production? I have looked everywhere and can't find them. Can you send them to me? TY :)
Apparently I'm the only one who finds Jud extremely creepy XD maybe I missed some, but all the comments I've read so far just say what an amazing singer he is (which is true)
@fifi1fan youre not the only person who finds the character of jud creepy and just plain wrong. But the actor who plays him does have a fine voice that makes his protrayal that much more sad
@cripplious I agree completely! I just thought it was odd that no one was saying anything about the creepyness lol. But he totally is a great singer and does an amazing job!
@cripplious I also found Jud to be creepy based on past productions I've seen, but I would not call it wrong. i think it works in that it makes Laurie firing Jud, etc. justified whereas, in other productions, firing him seemed kind of harsh.
@moorewjr I'm pretty sure the idea is that he's american pretending to be Persian to make him seem more mysterious and sell more things. So the accent is supposed to be ambiguous.
This is the best song in the whole of the play.
When I saw an amateur performance of this song, I almost cried, it's just so sad.

I wish they included "Lonely Room" in the film version. It would've been interesting to see how Rod Steiger perfomed it.

What a creepy song! Well performed and it gives a fuller insight into Jud, but it really is disturbing.

@moorewjr hmmm. Maybe to suggest that since he's a peddler, and he's been all over, he's picked up a bunch of different accents or something?
