That was outstanding! Really gorgeous stuff there. It's almost a firepower vs mobility issue with camera equipment. You want really nice stuff so you can accurately capture the beauty you find, but then how do you carry it all (assuming you can afford it). You do a great job with what you have, bro. Ultimately it's the director, not the camera, that makes a video great.
I've always had a difficult time conveying the beauty of the many photos I've taken in the Sierras here in Cali. Sometimes I get it right, but the majority of times, what appears in the photo does not relate to the beauty and emotion of the feeling when I took the photo. You have the knack of capturing that beauty, combined with editing and pairing of music. Thanks for sharing. Keep up the good work.
It seems like this is the real reason that we go into the wilderness. We all have excuses such as practicing survival, hunting, and others which are good reasons. But the main reason is that we want to see God's creation, and explore nature. We want to get out of the crowds, and hectic pace of civilization. If you agree, thumbs up. If you disagree, thumbs down. I
Crocket, I'm sure you get asked all the time. What camera are you using? I just purchased a 1080p HD camera and the picture quality is great. The only problem is that it just wont focus well (see my latest video). So back to the drawing boards. I love the picture quality in your videos and would like the same level of quality in mine. Any suggestions would be great. As usual, love your video!
@Strelnikov10 JVC Everio GZ-HM50. The battery it comes with SUCKS. So I used the original as a backup and purchased a big one for it. The camera is adequate. It has it’s strengths and weaknesses. Basically it’s an entry level HD camera and you get what you pay for. Still shots or slow panning is great quality. Fast panning or action, HD footage is not so good.
Very nice my friend. I here you on wanting better cameras to help capture the beauty of the outdoors, but making do with what we have. There a great message just in that statement alone.
Taylor Hayward's music is indeed great. I used this same piece earlier this year in my "Clingman's Dome" video. It really is perfect when you find that right piece of music to help tell the story of the video. Take care
I just read your description before commenting. I think this is high quality... you don't need professional equipment and steady came for this.. You vids seem more real than most TV crap.
I enjoyed this video very much as is. Thank you.
I hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas Cr0cket =D
I just got home from work and was dreading the fact that I have to work this Christmas weekend. I told my wife I wish I didn't have to but she understood. Then I was going through my email and saw you had a wildlife video. As I watched all the unhappiness just went away. You always produce great videos, but this one really lifted my spirits. Thanks for sharing, Merry Christmas, Take care and God Bless!!
Cr0ckert, I watched the video twice and then I got my son to sit on my lap and watched with dad. I keep thinking of the give that Heavenly Father gave me earlier this year when little Denny was able to see a deer the first time in his life. I was there with him. It is was such a wonderful day. Dad and him sitting together and we were eating oatmeal that I made on a fire. Watching nature together and he wasn't even one year old. I smiled a lot on this video. Thanks for the memories.
very refreshing to see a video like this.. if we're not careful we can forget how beautiful the world is.. despite all the craziness that seems to be going on at the moment
This was fantastic my friend, I just sat mesmerized by the beauty and music. It is amazing how beautiful nature is, makes me very thankful just to be alive. Jesus did such an awesome job in creating this wonderful world and letting us enjoy it. Love the scene with the doe and her fawn, very touching. Thanks for the peaceful, relaxing couple of minutes. Merry Christmas my friend and God bless.
Well done CrOcket 20. Some advice from a broadcast TV vet, now retired. Use a tripod, even the inexpensive lightweight version helps, disengage autofocus, manually focus, shotgun or wireless mic., and finally keep your camera movement on your tripod to a miniumum. If subject moves off frame, just reframe and take the movement out in post production. With your keen eye and great editing skills it won't take much to bring you up to the next level. Your instincts are definitely there, my congrats.
Sometimes we need to just go out and enjoy the out-of-doors, shooting only with a camera.
I agree with ksdj1 in that "pro" or even "prosumer" equipment just adds more weight to lug around. It's like getting a large frame, heavy, handgun for cc. Eventually you get tired of dragging it around and start to leave it at home. Keep up the excellent work!
You hit the nail on the head in the comments. Life isn't perfect. I personally feel that since the equipment you used was not professional grade, this piece turned out more personal. Also more motivating in that we all can get out there more. Some of those documentary shows are so well done that they seem exotic, and getting there cannot be accomplished by common folks.
I first seen you on Nutnfanceys page months ago, since he sold out to the outdoors and only plays GI Joe, I stopping watching him.
Love your outdoor vids. Your doing it right!
Going up to the "San Diego" Mts tomorrow with the wife for Xmas. Just the 2 of us. Tent camping in 2 feet of fresh powder. first "snow" camping we'll be doing! Can't wait.
You might not have a "professional" set-up, but your video is beautiful. Remember, professional equipment = more bulk and weight. You show allot of professional technique in your video, and while maybe not perfect, it doesn't have to be........nature in itself is perfect. Thank you for all the videos I have enjoyed watching this year. I wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a very Happy and blessed 2012 my friend!
@noBuzzkillin Thanks. This was actually one of those days where I just went out and enjoyed the quite. Don't think I said a word while out there. Hence the music instead of the talking.
@Cr0cket20 Sometimes a walk outside in complete silence is the absolute perfect meditation. I thought the handheld "non professional" look made it much more sort of "see it as you saw it".. a nice effect for sure.
Just got back from taking the kids to daycare and had ten minutes before I need to get working. Sat down with a cup of coffee and watched this. I don't think I could have spent it better.
@Faceoffman14 I think about 20 yards? This was filmed a while ago. I think she was a little confused as to what I was doing. Couldn't decide to stick around or run. Fun to see them up close like that.
Really inspiring. Thank you for showing us this.
