I mean, I did not care yet during that time about what songs were currently on the charts. In short, I was not yet a music lover. Yes I was also hearing 80's songs during that time, but the thing was; I DIDN'T CARE yet. I just became one when I was 14 or 15 already, but that time, I was only listening to the more current songs, esp punk-rock songs like Simple Plan songs.
