Opossums

We'd a slug problem; holistic solution? Put out a bowl of beer (the cheaper the better).  They'll slither in and drown in it.

In the morning, we'd find lots of slug trails--but an empty bowl -- no beer or slugs.

Then the third night we discovered why: an opossum was eating all the slugs in the bowl, drinking the beer, then staggering off.

opossums are freakin awesome brah ! i catch these critters in my yard all the time . . . . my favorite ones are the big boys that throw a fight when they get tailed. rock on .

They do not....Out of hundreds of visits I have only seen one with some urine looking substance on it which could have come from a nestmate..They are quite clean

I know that possum. That's Old Fat Jack Possum from the wooded swamp. He is always got his hands in the cookie jar. Hey Jack save some of those cookies for a poor possum like me. Mxcat50 can you leave an apple pie with ice cream next time. It's my favorite!!

They diff possums to what we have in NZ. Ours are big, fat darkbrown or grey longhaired. And vicious!!

They are smart at being possums.. They lived during the age of dinosaurs: fossil remains have been found from 70 million years ago. They will likely be smart enough to be here when we are long gone.

ACTUALLY, they ARE smart AND cute. MxCat 50 is correct. They will be here LONG after humans kill themselves off. The ONLY smart thing YOU wrote is that they would not make a good pet.

Long before You Tube, I often had a Possum with three legs come into my home through the cat door and eat cat food. He was tame and didn't care one bit if we were close to him.
