Donald Butler is a stud, he had a great combine, fastest top ILB, he blew away all the other ILB's with 35 reps. of 35, almost 10 more than any other at this position. He was ranked over all top 4 among all ILB's in this draft. The chargers had a need, we filled it. We'll have a great asset who can be productive right away, and a starter in a year or two. There is no reason to draft tons of guys you are not going to use, A.J. is going after key players, quality, not quantity. Watch and learn.

@MrNAFTA: I hope this guy turns out great. We passed on Maualuga last year where we should of drafted him, but instead we got Larry English when we didn't need an outside rusher. I thought English was overrated at his position. We should of got Rey Maualuga last year and got Sergio Kindle this year for the rush off the edge. I don't like A.J. Smith he sucks... only pick I liked was Ryan Matthews but not too sure if he will last. We should trade to get Marshawn Lynch.

@hurricaneaasu Larry English is not overrated, just raw. He played in a 4-3 at NIU and has the build and tools to be a great OLB. He has the quickest first step that ever...there are many times where he could have made plays/sacks on the QB because he was there in an instant, but he overpursued because he's so raw. I expect him to get better, he might even have a stud year this year. Donald Butler this year was a great pick. He will help anchor our ILB corps for a long long time.

@tmvu Nah I have to disagree with you, I hate to admit it but I have to- Larry English is a first round bust!! He has not lived up to expectations in 3 seasons, always injured, hasn't done anything in the pass game, hasn't gotten enough pressure on the QB. What sucks is that Orakpo and Clay Matthews were in the same draft class and taken AFTER English :(

but I agree with you on Butler, I was mad when we let Siler and Burnett go cuz I didn't know why we were going to rely on a first year starter to be our starting MLB, but he has definitely exceeded my expectations through these first 4 weeks, definitely a future pro bowler in the making

Stop complaining, our Defensive line is fine. Last year was just full of fluke injuries. DT can be played by Antonio Garay, Travis Johnson, Ian Scott, Ryon Bingham, DE we got solid players Castillo, Cesaire, Boone, Derrick Jones, Vaughn, and fawking Nwagbuo. Stop crying about Terrence "bitch tits" Cody, go look at the kid, he's a sluggish, lazy, no gas in the tank donut. He;s not an Anchor or star nose tackle, he was up to 370+, his weight and endurance will always be an issue.

@MrNAFTA glad to see someone else agrees on how overrated terrence cody is. Everyone should google Terrence Cody Shirtless and see that this guy doesn't carry his weight well, to say the least. There's a reason why Saban only put him on the field for one snap every three or for plays, because the kid gasses easy. Lazy, fat and slow in college. Worked well cause he was playing against kids, won't translate well into the NFL.

we got a linebacker cuz dobbins is lost his role, burnett is in his lat year of his contract and siler isent an every down player ! i did want them to get a lineman but butler will be a good fit!

@sexweedz Please tell me how a couple of 270 pound DEs fit with the Chargers at all. Too small to actually play DE in a 3-4, and We certainly don't need another OLB. A NT could have been nice, but we do need a strong ILB, and...well he's about as strong as it gets. I believe they wanted the 15th specifically to ****block Denver, who might have been interested in him.

And are seriously hating on Eric Weddle? He's one of the best defensive players on the team. Only one who can make a tackle.
