Does anyone know about the musical Nell Carter co-starred in the 70s titled "Cindy" and where to obtain a copy please contact me. Thank you. It was the only production of an all black casted Cinderella story shown once. I was 18 - now 52 and it was never re-broadcasted. It was a magnificent production with A 4 star ratings and a treasure. Like so many great made-for-tv movies they're in the backroom. Queen of the Stardust Ballroom was another gem and hard-to-fined. Thanks for helping.
Thanks fo sharing this video, edicottpete. I was lucky enough to buy Nell's Aladdin costume from her estate after her tragic death. It's something I treasure.
I saw her star in "Don't Bother Me I Can't Cope" in Baltimore in the mid 70's and I was amazed at how well she could dance. In one scene she ran the length of the stage and jumped up and performed a split in mid air. It was outstanding. Man could she sing and dance! Truly one of a kind.
Yeah, why didn't Robin Williams performed? Oh wait, I remember now, it was that time he was pissed off at Disney. Pitty, it would have been so cool if he had sang.
When he accepted to portray the Genie in "Aladdin", he made them agreed that they wouldn't base the publicity around the Genie, and when used in posters the character couldn't surpass certain percent of the size of the image. Disney didn't do anything they agreed to do, plus apparently he was angry at them for not promoting that "Toys" movie, so, he pretty told them go to hell for around a decade.

I'm trying to get my drama teacher to allow us to have a female perform as Genie. Maybe I should show them this and they'll allow me!

So sad and desperate..this is the musical equivalent of an actress of a certain age taking off her top. RIP Nell you were so much better than this

She was awesome. And the little kids in the dance troupe were pretty amazing too. Actually the entire dance troup was great. Loved it.

I found this on an old VCR tape (which is why the quality isn't so great). Hope everyone enjoys it.
