Why were so many of the performers on the show American even long before the producers moved it to Los Angeles? By the end of the UK run, the cast was usually at least 3/4 American or even 4/4 American. I never understood that. (As an American I don't mind that they did since we'd never have had Whose Line US without the established set of American performers who were already veterans of the UK show. ) I use "American" in the continent sense here (to include Canada).

Tony was fired following a particularly disappointing run of episodes in series 7 (his addiction to drugs and alcohol coupled with the bipolar really taking its toll). Mike was a good friend of Tony and quit the show because of the way they fired him.
