I agree with the VMWorkshop comment about negataivity. I enjoyed this video, it looked as though it was fun to make and full marks for the guy who was brave enough to go in front of the camera (s)!
I usually hide behind my camcorder. If I lived closer to Chico I'd definitely go to one of the Videomaker workshops. As you say, it's all about meeting people and learning - not for guys who already know it all.
I am a bit surprised by the negativity of these posts. Generally we find the video community to be very supportive of beginners and first time Videomakers.
The purpose of the video production workshop is not to make a brilliant perfectly polished video. But to teach the fundamentals of videography to beginners. Of course there's going to be some mistakes, but allowing them to make those mistakes, then teaching how to avoid them in the future is the process we're after, not a polished video.
Yeah, videos done by students, wannabes, rookies. But students, wannabes and rookies with the expert guidance and tutelage of Videomaker. Not a good reflection on Videomaker.
I know now not to refer anyone to a Videomaker Workshop. I get asked frequently and I have wondered if it was any good or just cheesy. These student videos answer that question.
A couple more of these and I am gong to revoke my subscription.
Glad you find the mag useful. We are geeks. This geek took a look at the videos you posted, and you show good instincts, but need to work a bit more on your timing. However you seem to have incredible potential for a someone your age, and I encourage you to keep making video, as I've found it a ridiculously fun and exciting way to make a living.

I love the magazine but it seems that the videos by Videomaker seem vary bad and stupid. The people over at FXhome know alot more.
