You can download the demo for it. Search The Ur-Quan Masters Project 6014, and download that, will bring back so many memories. I can't wait until they have it finished.
By the way, I beat this without the starmap. It isn't too bad, most of the aliens either give where you need to go in coordinates or by system name, which you can just search the starmap in the game for the systems you need to go. Played it so much I knew where all the constellations were by heart.
After 16 years, still my favourite game of all time, just for how complete it is.
Almost nothing beats this games story and its detail, music, voice over, etc.
hey, this is my favourite game of all time... I have a 3DO ever since 1994. I remember the day I came home from school, and my dad bought this game, he was in Orz territory, and needed to get back home, I didn't know where that was. But I was great with maps and astronomy. So since all the stars are actual constellations, he landed on Sol, which I knew is the actual name of our solar system. I got so hooked to this. Probably the first game where it was totally exploratory and non linear events.
Wow, this really does look awesome. I've been meaning to buy another 3DO (to play the 40+ games I still have for it!) and when I do I'm certainly going to try to pick this one up.
@stuntwill Download the FreeDo emulator and then download star control 2 from dope roms...Works great for me. Also you can download UR Quan masters for free for the pc which is the same game and better. If you need any help just let me know.
I have a horror story for you...I finally got my panasonic model 3DO loose with star control II and the box/star map....played it once, and then had to go on vacation with the wife/kids. Came back to severe water damage in the house, which destroyed the console! NOOOOOOOO
I'm presuming the CD is also dead, but obviously I haven't been able to test it out, although I could maybe pop it in my pc and see if the file list comes up as a normal cd hmm

the cd can usually survive water. Don't worry as you can easily buy another 3do console and play it again :)
