I swear you're referring to the UK definitions of college and high school cos i swear there is nothing you will do in your life more difficult than A-levels...
You'll do things that require more hours but never as difficult (:
to me college is the beginning of the real world... like u said no one is looking over your shoulder anymore and it's up to u to do the work... im a senior in high school this year and i havent studied for one physics test yet i have never gotten below an A on a test... good thing i know i cant do that in college other wise i'd be in for a rude awakening
I wish i had stayed a year longer in Highschool so that i would be 19 by the time i start college but that didn't work out...Now i cant go to any of the pub nights that the school hosts. *Sigh*
college is a great experience. so much harder than high school. i slept in high school and was 3rd in my class of 150. now i've realized college is so much harder. study study study. parties are fun just keep it in order. you are paying lots of money towards your future you, got it right here murka
I've heard from a lot of people that it's hard to pass all of your classes in college and that it's smarter to pick and choose the ones you really want to pass, then try your hardest in those. Is that true? :o
The definition of college is different in Canada too.
I agree completely on the difference. I partied all my first year and my average dropped 25% from my grade 12 years (My university uses % instead of GPA). I now spend about 40-50 hours a week outside lecture time at the school. It's a full time job by senior year.
@OpTic3liJK I had around the same thing as you in MS, but high school is pretty hard if your taking harder classes, where i'm from its honors and AP(college courses) classes which i have. Good luck in High school! :P
@OpTic3liJK dude trust me, you don't want to have regular classes. I'm not saying it's bad but you won't stick out from the rest when you apply for a college, even if its hard go for it, things in life won't always be easy, try dude, TRY!
well basically here we have primary school, where you go till you're eleven, secondary where you go until you're 16, college where you go for like 2 years and then university where you get your degree
well i think of really tall nerdy people walking around saying words that are like old people launguage like doctor words and stuff like that it scares me
Yeah dude I hear not waiting til the last minute, that's what I just did this morning for my final in Culinary Math, and I honestly thought I was gonna bomb it. Turns out I think I aced it, only because we reviewed before class.....got lucky on that one.
im currently taking a European History early college experience course during my senior year at my high school. it definitely requires the student to take a great deal of initiative to do the work and maintain good grades but i feel that it is a great taste of what college will be next year.
Hey Taylor, Here in the uk. At high school, we don't really get graded on assignments unless its coursework but you only ever have that once. Here it's totally test based to get our A levels and so it kinda sucks. Pretty much sums up the British education system, It sucks. There's none of this minor/major business. You can only choose one subject for 3 years. Aaah.
it sounds like u are just a smart kid bc if u did go to a good high school, then i guarantee two things if u could just walk in and do decently well. 1. what is your definition of well and 2. did u take tough classes. since u didnt PREPARE that was probably a shock to the system when u went to college, even though you were a smart guy
my school is in the IB program (international program where the education is matched to everywhere in the world so that you can go to a school anywhere in the world and pick school right back up), im a jr, and most of my classes are at college level, yes, does IB make it harder, yes. But i dont think it is as hard as college. Like Murka said, there are a lot of helpful points you get.
Well since I might get accepted to pathways for the police tech, I must keep my party-animal side under control. Note that the girls are fucking hot!!! (Canada)
just want to let you know i completely agree with you on the social aspect of drinking and smoking. people need to realize the difference having a little fun and being a fuckup.
@IBrakeForBananas well the correct term is HIG SCHOOL hence why all of our so called ''secondary'' schools have the words 'High school' written after the name, Example where I live there are many schools including Christleton High School, Bishops Blue Coat High School, Blacon High school, Queenspark High School, Tarpoley Community High school ETC ETC.
I took all honors classes in high school and graduated with honors as well. I must say college is so much harder! I wouldn't even study for tests in high school, rarely did my homework at home, and played sports, and I got a 3.9gpa. Then college hit and I had a reality check. I actually have to go to the library to do homework?! What the heck?! I need to not play xbox today because I have a test tomorrow?! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
im a junior in high school and i agree: the work is not that difficult. i mean there are somethings that are confusing but not difficult. im in all honors and i usually study like 5 min before a test or quiz. now i no college is like 10x harder and im gonna have to start studying. do you have any studying tips?

@Rarepurplemoose US:Preschool age 4 Kindergarten age 5 Elementary or lower school up to age 10 (each year here you go up a grade level when you pass starting at first grade so when you pass 1st grade you go to 2nd grade and so on elementary school ends at 5th or 6th grade) then you go to middle school or JR. High grades 6or 7-8th after that you go to High school for 4 years(you can drop out of school when your 16) You can then go to collage for 4-8 depending of the degree(s) hope this helped
Im currently going to college online at university of Phoenix. Im a stay at home mom with not good colleges near me so online was my only choice. As for me, I dont drink or party... I have a kid to take care of all the time. I have weekly readings, Daily questions, responses, and a weekly assignment that is due. Im only 2 blocks in to my 5 years so it might change the farther I get but for now its not to bad. I wish you the best of luck with your venture in college and thanks for the great vids.
In Norway it's kind of different, high school is alot harder, and there is a lot of more work than in colleges or universities, plus I get more money at my university, than i did in high school so that's pretty awesome
In the UK, elementary school is primary school. High school is called an Academy (generally) and College is college lol. Just wanted to clear that up :D
Actually I'm 21 and I have to say my English 4 class was a lot harder than my English 110 class. It must be because our HS teacher taught at a college in the Fall, and therefore she decided she would treat us like college students. It really paid off though, and it made college that much easier.
1. Go to Class, I've lost a lot of points by simply skipping class
2. Go to the Gym, you're gonna gain weight
3. Bring extra socks and underwear, because doing laundry is tedious
4, Floor meeting are never as mandatory as they say they are...it's really no big deal
5. Be responsible for your own sake, in regards to work, hygiene, and your roommate. Don't be a dick to your roommate, as they can steal your stuff lol
College can be either easy or hard depending on how you make it. It makes a huge difference to know what you want to do and have defined goals. My first foray into college was dreadful, I had no idea why I was going or what I wanted to do. Now, 2nd time around, I have defined goals, and understand why I am going and it has made it seem so much easier because I actually care enough to do the work and go the extra mile to learn all I can.
I'd have to disagree with you about college being harder. College is harder in a sense that NOTHING is given to you. You have earn your grade 100% all by your self. The professors wont cut you any slack what so ever. I personally think the work was harder in highschool, but i got better grades in highschool.
I live in the Netherlands and high school here IS brutal, believe me. Although I will most certainly graduate at the end of this year, it still is hard :/
College is heavily independent whereas the teachers in 'high school' or secondary school here in Ireland, they want you to get good scores and will do all they can to help you. The lecturers in college do want you to do well but the bulk of the work has to come from you, they'll point you in the right direction though.
cool video..great idea for uploading this gun game while talking about college..!!

Tips for college:

In the UK we call high school secondary school, and you go off to collage or whatever at 16.

How much more difficult you find your College can depend on if your high school was academic oriented...........
