The scene I love in this movie is the one when Doc says to Johny Ringo " it looks like somebody just walked over his grave" and what a way to say this.
When the legend becomes larger than the man write the legend people need heroes and icons and Doc was one of those, intellectually I found Doc to be a interesting fellow a gentleman of rare taste and skill.
Interestingly enough, the 'winners' are often more flawed than what most people would consider a hero to be. Sometimes the same with 'the loser'. (See Coen Brothers' movies; The man who wasn't there or Fargo)
I think, though, that in the movie the word pimp actually means one who sells out women, not the meaning it has come to take on. As I understand it, when Clanton call them a "bunch of pimps" he actually means that. Their wives began as hookers, and from time to time still made the rounds. At least that is my understanding.
To me this is Val Kilmer's best. Why he did not win an oscar for this role is beyond me. A true classic movie; up there with True Grit and John Wayne.
Doc holliday was funny in this one. How he made fun of Ike Clanton- just how stupid Ike was. Brilliant movie, lots of gun fights. "I'm your Huckleberry."
I'm your huckleberry..
