Actually I think Rick Wakeman was faster. He just took a lot longer from the time he stopped hitting the keys until he reached up and stopped the clock.

I agree, if Rick was playing with his right hand... But also, I think his form is slightly smoother and cleaner. Also Wakeman did pause before pressing the button, but hey, what matters is that we saw not one, but two displays of awesomeness in under two minutes.

This definitely proves that Wakeman has also a good left hand dexterity and velocity, perhaps not as much as his right hand (don't know if he is right-handed or left-handed)? These who-has-the-fastest-fingers-in­-the-world concourses have something vain somehow, they are musicians and not sportsmen, who cares about half a second of playing-time? This important is that we know they've got a lot a talents by watching them play.

I just tried it on my own electric piano and actually I´m a bit amazed that they don´t do it faster!!!

I did it in 7,89 and 8,08 on my first two tries... Maybe it is something with the Yamaha action???

But anyway. Doing a complete chromatic scale with your left hand doesn´t make you a great pianist!!

it's a Yamaha P-150. It has weighted action, I have one. It's suppose to be a piano with a bonus so to speak. The action is not terribly stiff but it's not like an organ or synth. The Yamaha weighted action is the best IMHO and BTW my P-150 is 10 years old and plays like new and I've beat the s#$t out of it.
