Thumbs up for all those that listened to this back in '95 and up to now in 2012 and it still gives you the same adventurous inducing nostalgia as it did back in the day...Truly timeless music
I hope my SNES lasts long enough so I can buy my own entertainment center after I graduate from college and get a good paying job. The first thing I'll do is play Donkey Kong Country 2 in surround sound.
it's funny how people say the "new age of gaming" really when you look at THIS this is what gaming should be. Graphics are not everything, gaming is about bringing people together to form bonds and I know that I formed a few with this game. Thank you Rare.
@XxXdavo21XxX i know that what im saying is people dont put the same effort into a well rounded game. This had grahics, music and tons and tons of replay value. It was about getting to the next area not the highest K/D.
@Ian2forget yeeeah! this stage was pretty much "think fast think fast" lol and i would know when 2 jump cause of the voices and thats how i remember this stage hehe
lmao i played and love this game for years and i just know figured out why they put it as Diddy>s< kong quest and not Diddy Kongs quest, u c Diddy is on a quest for a kong Donkey Kong aaaa i feel so gud now
Well the 70s were good, the beginning of the 80s were good but the rest of the 80s sucked (except for the games), then the 90s were awesome, then 2000-2010 sucked. Maybe awesomeness skips a generation, and now until 2020 will be awesome again?
@fishcomputer33 Half-Life 3, a real Banjo-Threeie, and Killer Instinct 3. Seems like most of these good games end with only 2 games. Or in Banjo's instance, only two good games.
DKC2 truly does have the best soundtrack of any game ever made. Each song is so perfectly fitting to its level, so memorable and catchy, so atmospheric and cinematic. The best track has to be Stickerbush Symphony though without a doubt.
this song takes me back to my childhood when i would be playing this game during the christmas holidays. it would be really cold outside and there i was, real cozy in my room playing this game while the weather was absolute shit outside. i had this and hot chocolate. wonderful memories this gives me, thanks for posting this song!
I love this game and it's music so much!!!!!! It's so sad that gaming is not same anymore, because game desingners focus too on the graphics more than gameplay aspects and music. I HATE THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Despite the fact that I grew up in 32-bit era. 16-bit era was and still is THE BEST era in gaming!!!!!!!!!!!! Super Nintendo is the best console EVER!!!!!
Every time I listen to Donkey Country Kong 2 I get depressed and start to believe that this here was the peak of gaming... Maybe the peak of my childhood.
@thejobloshow It's certainly the peak of video-game music, as far as I'm concerned. Modern game music is too much like generic movie soundtracks, all grand string arrangements; this stuff had variety and character, not to mention genre-blending.
God I would give anything to go back to when I was 6 years old. Before I had to deal with school and everything. Back when you could just kick back relax and play awesome classics like this. Honestly its these games the shaped me into who I am today. Mostly because of their difficulty levels and how I had to rely on my friends to help me. It shows that you can't do everything by yourself and sometimes you need help from the people around you. Thank god my SNES still works. :)
I miss this time, where I was 8-9 playin these games for the first time, and being excited when i got to a new world in DK, before dealing with women and their hurtful games, when I was still innocent, when we were kids and all we cared about was the end of the school day to come back home and play these games ourselves or with friends, this game franchise makes every summer for me, I play them all every summer as a tradition from childhood, here's to you, SNES, best system i had and still have
@MutantX123 You remind me of myself when I was 8-11 years old. Even though I born in 1995,I was very lucky enough that I have older sibling and cousins that saved the SNES for me and SNES was the very first console I ever had in my childhood along with the N64 and I LOVED them. I would always be playing Super Mario World, Donkey Kong Country 1 and 2, Mortal Kombat 1,2 and 3 and Street Fighter II. It's too bad my siblings lost them when they borrowed it...
@MutantX123 but it's a good thing we have the internet where I found a website and program to download and play both SNES and N64 emulators and yeah it's a pain in the ass using the keyboard as a control but I least I got to play my childhood video games again.
Man your right on point, we have to believe in the same things as we imagined as a child! our generation has to change the world, create a peaceful place for humans to live in for once, make a better planet for ourselves.
@every one... Just listen to the music it relaxs you and reminds you of the past like playing this game with your little or older brother...A what a peacefull time it was back then
when my super nintendo broke down i was down :'( but then i understood that i have a pc!!! so i downloaded the snes program and i play every day the donkey kong games!! if anyone wants the links to download and play them just speak to me !!!
Man i cant wait to play this 20 years from now and see if i still know every level by heart and all the shorcuts :P Boyy those were the dayss RIP DK games To bad they dont make games like this anymoree
I agree - DKCR kinda blew me away as there was a lot of action. However, the original DKC didn't need action. Rare produced something magical. Honestly I think we won't ever get those good old gaming days back, video games just won't be so creative anymore. I'm glad i lived in the 90's to experience the "golden age of gaming"
@metalWeirdo77 i agree. for me, most of that had to do with the music. thank you david wise for enhancing my imagination and inspiring me in my musical endeavors!
Check out Pure Nano Rythm 1 and 2 in my channel, Been thinking of doing pure nano rythm with a track from DKC2, grew up with nintendo and super nintendo and know what real music is.
@Sparkylilguy4u Never let the child die out in you. Always hold onto the memories so you can use them when you feel down. Just take a weekend to play through these games. I do it all the time. Just make popcorn and get a bunch of other snacks and go through these games over the weekend with my brother. Keeps the child and memories in me alive. And it helps me when i'm feeling sad or i'm going through something tough, like a family death or something like that.
What David Wise has done with this soundtrack is capture the theme of every world the Kongs had to brave through and he did it wonderfully. You can just feel the atmosphere of an enchanted forest with hidden secrets.
I can already hear those most annoying "ghost strings" which you could hold on to for like 3 seconds before they disappear in their "wooooo" sound =) ..
The first DK you defended your own turf from the Kremlings, but the sequel you fought on Kremling soil. All the levels in this were approvingly desolate and evil. Even the amusement parks were a symbol of commercial bringing low nature, Even the parrots were bad sports in racing, and the forests were full of the ghosts of dead animals...
So short side note. Out of all 3 DKC games, this game was the one solely composed by David Wise. And i wouldnt blame anyone for not being suprised by that. David Wise had a part in all three but did allllll the music for this one. And no suprise its the best.
David Wise, if I ever meet you....we're getting married.
@legalink1 Hahaha its the exact same story with me but for me it was my older sister... i tried to get my super nintendo to work again a few days ago just for memores and failed ):
Dust that shit, there's nothing like a nice nostalgic walk down memory lane. carefully vacuum through the air intakes and blow are into those cartridges. Otherwise, get a Wii (if you don't have one) and buy some old school games from Nintendo WFC.
Thumbs up for all those that listened to this back in '95 and up to now in 2012 and it still gives you the same adventurous inducing nostalgia as it did back in the day...Truly timeless music

It's a real shame this doesn't get as much attention as Stickerbrush Symphony. It's just as beautiful!

Dust that shit, there's nothing like a nice nostalgic walk down memory lane. carefully vacuum through the air intakes and blow are into those cartridges. Otherwise, get a Wii (if you don't have one) and buy some old school games from Nintendo WFC.
-Enjoy!
