  • Thank you... I am going to try that. I did a cowash yesterday, braided my hair with the intention of doing a braid out today for work. I started separating the braids. It started to look like a loose afro. I panicked and started to straighten it with a hot comb and flat iron. I realized what I was doing and stopped. It's a mess. I wrapped it, and I am heading off to work. When I come home I will do a pre-poo, cowash again, then go with your suggestion. I will keep you posted :)

  • @Nadeanism Lol. It's a process, don't worry about it, you're learning. Alright :)

  • MyBeautyKinks, what do I do for dryness. I am using Herbal Essences (Hello Hydration Shampoo and Conditioner, and their Totally Twisted Conditioner) and Aussie Moist Conditioner. Plus, All Naturals 100% Pure Unrefined Shea Butter, IC Alchohol Free Styling Gel, and Hollywood Beauty Castor Oil, Proclaim Leave-In Conditioner and regular water. When I took out the bantu's the new growth was dry... I am calm. I will remain calm :) Thank you, and talk soon.

  • @Nadeanism It may just be the order in which you apply your products. Not sure how you apply them, but try this: while your hair is dripping wet or damp, add your shea-butter (or any moisturizer you desire to use). After, add your oil to seal it in. Then apply your gel on top of that and style. If this is how you've been doing it, then maybe you need a more moisturizing product. Try the vegetable oil and water mixture and see if it works for you.

  • Have you tried the pre-poo (it is a moisturizing conditioner plus olive oil) applied to dry hair (and left on for a minimum of 15-20 minutes) before shampooing the hair? You also mention that you use gel... have you tried the aloe vera gel (Brand: Fruit of the Earth)? I just started this hair journey at the beginning of October of this year. There is a lot of good information. Let me know if these work for you. The bantu knot outs are my favorite so far. I like the way you do yours :)

  • @Nadeanism Yea, I always pre-poo before washing now, but I use coconut oil instead of olive oil. I have not tried the aloe vera but a different kind (still alcohol free)... But I barely use gel now that my hair is all natural and a bit longer.. just once in a while. Good luck on your journey... Keep me updated on your progress, and be sure let me know when you decide to BC. And thank you :)

  • Havent been on here in a minute. yea im about to wash my hair too. i might do that towel thingy u did

  • Great Video!...and glad to see a fellow HN user!!....that new growth looks awesome...do you plan on sticking with HN solely after you do your BC?...will keep an eye out for that video! : ) Peace*

  • I would like to. But If i'm not able to order it, I'll try Jason or Organix. I'm thinking of BCing in 4 months.... maybe sooner :)
